At present, young people in China enjoy saving things that are often seen as useless waste. They are making new rules in life:  saving everything, just in case.

To most people, a handmade book is only paper and thread. But for Anastasia, a young girl from Russia, every page has a special story she wants to tell the world.

Anastasia studies in St. Petersburg. Before she came to China, she read lots of Chinese folk stories online.She was very happy when she knew she would come to China for a cultural exchange. She spent much time prepar-ing for the trip to learn about traditional Chinese culture.

In China, Anastasia and her classmates stayed for a month to learn from local artists. They learned the story of"double happiness(双喜)" and the twelve zodiac animals(十二生肖). They also visited old gardens and experi-enced the life of ancient Chinese people. Everything was new and interesting for them.

The story of the twelve zodiac animals attracted Anastasia most. She said Russia also had animal signs, so theChinese zodiac made her feel warm. But the story about the rat was new to her, so she decided to write this story in her book.

With the help of Mr. Xu Jinlin, a Chinese teacher, the  students made their own handmade books. One ofAnastasia's classmates, Natalia, drew many beautiful pavilions(亭)  and bridges from Chinese gardens. And her friend Natasha made special pages for Chinese Xiehouyu—— two-part sayings with hidden meanings.

From this special journey, Anastasia and her classmates found that people from different cultures could under-stand each other through sharing stories.

Anastasia looks on her book as a great treasure. She will take it back to Russia and share Chinese stories with her family and friends. She hopes more people can learn about traditional Chinese culture from her book.

In the central square of Zengchong Village  in Guizhou stands a special  wooden  tower    lhe  Zengchong DrumTower. Built in 1672, it is one of the oldest Dong drum towers in China. It shows the great building skills.(theDong people and is a key national cultural relic(文物).

The tower is 25 meters high with 13 layers of roofs. It is made only of wood in a special way. The wood' ts perfectly without any nails(钉子). Four large thick wooden pillars(柱子) inside form a strong center, and eight more outside form a ring. They connect tightly, making the tower very stable. The roofs are painted with colourful pictures of dragons, fish and other animals.

The tower is more than a beautiful building. On the first floor, there is a fire pit(火坑). People sit around it to keep warm, chat and have big meals. In the past, villagers held important meetings here. It is also a place for showing respect to their ancestors. High in the tower hangs a big drum. In the old days, people used different drum-beats to send messages.

This special structure is a folk building for the Dong people, serving as a place for discussing affairs in the communi-ty, welcoming guests, singing grand songs, and holding other important events. It is not only a living treasure of theDong people's building skills, but also one of the oldest existing drum towers in Dong villages all over China.

Today, the Zengchong Drum Tower is well protected. It stands for the wisdom and spirit of the Dong people. It is a living cultural treasure for us to value and protect.

Not having enough sleep is a common problem for people around the world. However, sleep is just like food and water to us. None of  can live if we don't sleep at all. Sleep experts say that an adult  7 to 9 hours of sleep a night and a teenager needs 8. 5 to 9. 5 hours. Not getting enough sleep could be  to our health.

In small villages, people often say hello to their neighbours in stores, on the streets, or outside their homes. But in cities, many people don't greet their neighbours, even when they are standing in line at a supermarket. A recent study shows that greeting neighbours, especially up to six people a day, is really good for you. 

The study has found that greeting others can make you happier. The magic number is six. When you greet up to six people, your happiness score goes up. After that, the score shows no further rise. The study was carried out last year and got replies from more than 4,000 people. It tested people's social happiness, physical happiness, community happiness and more. People who greeted six neighbours had a much higher happiness score than those who didn't greet anyone. 

You might think that saying hello is only about social happiness, but that's not true. Regular greetings also improve your physical and community happiness. ____ If you feel your community is safe, it's more possible for you to talk to people. Walking around your neighbourhood can make you feel better physically. 

Dan Witters, the leader of the study, said,"We don't mean that you should know the person well. Just stop and talk to them. The more people you greet, the more chances you have to start a conversation. "
