This morning,I got an email from Tom. It seems that my boy really (enjoy) his new life at Harvard University. The email made me think of the first day when we moved into this house.

Little Tom ran around the new house with great excitement and (try) to move his own things into the house, such as his toys, books and clothes. While he (move) something, his little hand knocked over a bottle of paint(油漆) on the shelf. The paint made the tidy floor and the white wall a terrible mess. "Oh, my God!" My wife rushed in angrily. I looked at my son and his small face (fill) with fears.

I smiled and held his hand, "Take it easy, Tom. You (give) some chances for us now. Let's do something to make it look nice." I took out a brush. "You see, Dad is a magician. I can change it into a big tree." His mum soon helped to paint some butterflies and flowers on the wall. We spent the whole morning painting and (laugh).The wall became a beautiful forest with plants, birds and small animals. Tom also painted the blue sky and white clouds.

The night before Tom left for Harvard, he asked me if I still remembered the day when he had knocked over the paint. "Since then, I (not worry) about making mistakes," he continued. "I believe I can always find out ways (solve) problems. Of course,I (remember) the day forever. The day means a lot to me." That's for sure, mistakes are unavoidable. Making mistakes is part of life.

When we make a mistake, what we should(do) is to face it bravely. The mistake can be valuable if we make full use of it.

Each year, billions of pounds of rubbish end up in the oceans. Sometimes people throw away water bottles or other plastics. They(not recycle) their rubbish. (actual), wind and rain can move rubbish from land to sea. Plastic takes a very long time to break down. It can (remain) in the oceans for hundreds of years. Plastic pieces are very (danger)to sea animals. One group, Washed Ashore, came up a new idea to tell people about the problems in the oceans. First, they take the rubbish from a beach. Then, they clean and sort it. (final), they work with the plastic pieces to make huge works of art that are mostly of sea creatures(生物). Washed Ashore has created more than seventy of these artworks (success). Some of them are now travelling in a show all over  world. Each piece shows the effects of trash. In one show, people learn       plastic fools fish and other sea animals. They think the plastic is food, so they eat it and get very sick or even die. This would not happen. people used less plastic and didn't litter. It's really time for human beings to take action!

There is a big and beautiful country in South America. It is easy (see) it on the world map. It looks like heart. Yes, it is Brazil, a big countrylots of people in South America. Brazil is famous for (it) beautiful landscape(风景). Let's take a look. 

In the north of the country, there is(large) rainforest in the world, the Amazon rainforest. It is home to many kinds of animals, from rare birds to some (danger) animals like cougars(美洲狮). 

In the west, on the border(边界) between Brazil  Argentina are the Iguazú Falls. They are one of the largest waterfall systems in the world. 

There is a famous river— the Amazon River. The river  is over 6, 400kilometres is the second longest river in the world, just after the Nile in Africa. It flows(流)through Brazil. However, it has the largest discharge(流量) in the world, up to about219, 000m³ per second! The Congo River has the second largest discharge has only about one fifth discharge of it! The Amazon River is also well-known for having no bridges (cross) it.

Do you know something about robots?The first robots (invent) at the end of the 1950s. Since then, robots(appear) in many American films. In real life, robots are used in many places, such as factories, restaurants and hospitals. Also, they help disabled(丧失能力的)people. 

In some American hospitals, there are robots that can do simple jobs. At one hospital, for example,  robot takes meals from the kitchen to patients' rooms. It never gets lostthis robot has a map of the hospital in its computer memory. 

Today many blind people have a guide dog to help them. In the future, some robot dogs(use) as guide dogs. Now scientists are studying a kind of robot guide dog with (wheel), When using it, a special belt(腰带) (wear) by the owner. This belt can send instructions  the owner from the dog, such as"Stop here", "Turn left" or"Turn right". 

In the United States, another kind of robot helps disabled people to take care of(them) in their daily life. The robot hears the sound of its owner's voice. It follows instructions such as"Turn the page" or"Make a cup of coffee". 

Because the technology is still developing, robots (become) more useful in the future. Let's look forward to the bright future!

Social distancing during the outbreak of COVID-19 (新冠肺炎) helps save lives. It's surprising to find that social distancing can also make environment better.

Delhi, one of the most polluted cities in the world, went into a strict lockdown (居家隔离) on the 24th March, 2020. A study team looked at the PM2.5 particle concentration (浓度) in the air at the US embassy (大使馆) in Delhi before and after the lockdown. They found the PM2.5 particle concentration dropped by 46%.

The new study also looked at solar power (太阳能) in Delhi. It has found that the reduction (减少) in air pollution has allowed a lot more sunlight to get through to solar panels in the city.

Overall, the amount of sunlight reaching solar panels in Delhi increased by around 8% in late March 2020, and 6% in April 2020 compared to similar dates in earlier years.

It was the fifth day of our Italian journey. We arrived at our hotel earlier than usual. There are lots of (Germany) like us in it. Dad offered to take us to the ancient city of Pompeii. I didn't really want to go I had no interest in old cities.

We traveled there by train. On the way, Dad told us something about history. Many years ago, Pompeii was a large city near a volcano (火山). The volcano broke out and (complete) covered the city in ash (灰). About twenty thousand people were killed. But the buildings remained there. And now, 2,000 years later, people around the world come here (see) how people lived all those years ago.

I had thought it was boring to visit the 2,000-year-old (house), but I was wrong. They were very interesting! Most of their rooms (have) fine paintings all over the walls. I was also amazed the bathrooms. I'd love a big bathroom in our house— (our) is so small!

Dad usually makes bad plans but this time he gets it right, finally. What a surprise! I got really interested in Pompeii. In fact, I (get) lots of ideas for our house when we get home!

I love all kinds of books, even books with3 or no words. I could pick up a picture book and spend hours4 it. I love reading, so I often go to the5 to buy books with my mom.

I think reading is magical. It is enjoyable6 relaxing. If you sit down with a good book to read, you will7 into a different world for a few hours. You will experience different feelings and stories. It just8 what you are reading.

Some people say they are too9 to read a book. I don't10. You always have time to do your favorite things, right? Now turn off the TV, open a book and enjoy it.

Frog: Why are you so sad, beautiful princess?

Narrator: The princess looked around and saw only a frog.

Princess: My favorite golden ball fell into the well.

Frog: I can retrieve it for you, but first, you must agree to one condition. You must promise to take me home and be my friend.

Narrator: The princess didn't want to be friends with a frog, but she promised anyway. When the frog brought her the ball, the princess snatched it from him and hurried home!

Narrator: The frog hop-hop-hopped through the grass and knocked on the heavy door of the castle.

Princess: What are you doing here, you bumbling frog?

Frog: Dear princess, I am here to remind you of the promise you made.

Narrator: The princess slammed the door in the frog's face with a big BANG.

King: I heard a door slam. What's happening? If you made a promise, you must honor it.

Narrator: The princess was angry but obeyed her father. So, the king, the princess, and the frog enjoyed dinner together. It was mutton stew, the cook's specialty.

Frog: I was hungry, but now I'm full. Thank you for dinner. Kindly show me to my bed now.

Narrator: The princess did as she was asked, but the frog looked sad!

Frog: You have welcomed me into your home, but I can tell that you don't want to be my friend.

Narrator: The princess's face went red, for what the frog said was true. She bent down to kiss the frog, but ended up kissing a prince.

Frog: I am a prince who was turned into a frog, and your kiss turned me back. Thank you, dear friend!

Narrator: The prince and princess were wonderful friends from that day on and lived happily ever after.

Don't argue with your parents. Your parents probably won't consider (考虑) your ideas if you are shouting at them. And you can't express yourself well if you are angry. Go someplace to cool off. Make sure you understand why you are unhappy. If you don't think you can speak to them at the moment, try writing a letter.

Try to reach a compromise (和解). Perhaps you and your parents disagree on something. You can keep your disagreement and try your best to accept each other. Michael's mother didn't agree with him about buying a motorcycle. They argued over it. But they finally came to a compromise. Michael bought the motorcycle, but he only drove it on certain days.

Of course, your parents might refuse to compromise on something. In these situations, it is especially important to show love and respect (尊敬) for them. Showing respect will keep your relationship strong.

Talk about your opinions. Tell your parents what you care about and why. Understanding your opinions might help them see your purposes (目的) in life.
