Most people have an inner(内心的) voice. It's the discussion that goes on inside your head. What you say to yourself will make a difference to how you think, feel and act, so it's worth paying attention to it.

Your inner voice is always with you. You may notice it when you make a mistake or when you try something new. You inner voice has different tones. Sometimes it sounds kind, but at other times it may sound scary. Whatever it sounds, we should treat it with kindness.

How does the inner voice influence you? If you keep telling yourself you're not good at making friends or you're not creative, over time you'll believe your inner voice is true. When you talk to yourself using a sentence like "I have to clean my room", it makes the task harder. Instead, if you say, "I choose to clean my room, and then I'll feel comfortable and find my things easily", it's more positive. You' re telling yourself how you'll benefit(受益) from cleaning your room.

But how to treat your inner voice? It can give you more energy to try to be friends with your inner voice. For example, when you make a mistake, you may feel afraid. You think you may be criticized(批评). But you should tell yourself it's OK to get something wrong. You can learn from the mistake and try to avoid making the same mistake next time. When you do something that makes you feel nervous, encourage yourself to go ahead bravely. If you are not sure what to say, imagine you're talking to your best friends and trying to support and help them inside your head.

Politeness is the key to successful communication. It is a set of behaviors and language rules that make communications with others more pleasant. In our daily lives, whether we are speaking to friends,family, teachers, or strangers, using polite language can make our relationships better off.

The simplest and most common polite expressions are "please" and "thank you." Saying "please" when asking for something shows that you think the other person's time and effort are very valuable. For example, instead of saying "Pass the salt", you can say, "Please pass the salt." And saying "please" also makes your request sound more pleasant. Similarly, "thank you" is a phrase that shows kindness. It is always pleasant when you say the phrase, whether it's for a small favor or an important help.

Saying"sorry" when you have made a mistake or caused inconvenience shows that you don't get away from mistakes. It helps to keep your relationship. "Excuse me" is a phrase that can be used to get someone's attention to politely stop a conversation. It is also used when you need to pass by someone in a crowded place,showing that you know their space and do not wish to get in.

Politeness is also about personal space and time. No stopping thers your turn to speak, and not standing too close to someone during a conversation are all examples of showing respect. Being on time is another way of showing respect for someone's time. Arriving on time for dates, classes, or meetings shows that you treat the other person's time as your own.

Kangaroos in Australia are known for hopping. They sometimes walked on two legs.

A professor named Christine Janis found out that 50,000 years ago, kangaroos in Australia were different from each other. The biggest kangaroo today, the red kangaroo, weighs less than 90 kilograms.These big kangaroos had to learn to walk because their legs were too heavy for hopping.

Scientists looked at very old bones of animals called macropodoids. They belonged to the same animal group and shared the same ancestor. Scientists wanted to see how these animals moved over millions of years.

The result is that small macropodoids could hop long ago. But as Australia became hotter and more open,bigger macropodoids appeared. Their way of moving around gradually changed.

An extinct kangaroo, the Protemnodon, probably walked on all fours. It had short and wide feet, which weren't good for hopping.  They don't put too much pressure on their heels, which helps them hop really well.

The Spring Festival is known as Chinese New Year in China. It usually falls between January 21st and February 20th. This festival marks the   of a new year and is a time for family gatherings and celebrations.

Before the festival people clean their homes to get rid of bad luck and decorate with red lanterns and paper cuttings. Red is a symbol of  and good fortune in Chinese culture.

On New Year's Eve, family gather for a big dinner with special   like dumplings and fish .Each food has a meaning. For example, fish is for abundance. Family often stay up late  new year with fireworks.

When the new year arrives, people celebrate with fireworks to scare away evil spirits. The sound of fireworks fills the air, a festive atmosphere. Children receive red envelopes with money  "hongbao" from their elders for good luck.

During the festival, people visit friends and relatives, exchange gifts, and enjoy lion and dragon dances. These dances are carried out by trained dancers who wear large and  costumes. These lively   bring joy to everyone.

The Spring Festival is a(n)holiday in China and a joyful time filled with family, food, and traditions. It's a chance to celebrate the past year and look forward to a new one full of hope. Whether through delicious food, colorful decorations, or exciting activities, the Spring Festival is a wonderful celebration that brings people  together.

Have you ever seen lions dancing in the streets? The lions dance to the beat of a drum. Of course, they are not real lions. They are dancers in lion costumes(服饰). The lions are part of a tradition that is centuries old. Lion dancing first started in China centuries ago.

Chinese people believe that lions can bring good luck in the coming year. Many people also think that the animal stands for China. There are different lion dances in different places. It's called Xingshi in Guangdong. In 2006, Xingshi was added to China's National Intangible Cultural Heritage 国家级非物质文化遗产) List.

Usually, a lion is made up of two dancers. One dancer controls the head. The other control s the tail.

"I think of it as a sport," says Anthony Huang, aged 16. He is a member of the New York Chinese Freemasons Athletic Club. Anthony performs as the lion's head. It can weigh 20 pounds. Lion dancing is important to Anthony. "This tradition really lifts me up," he says.

In the past, lion dancing was performed mostly by men. But it is different today. LionDanceMe is a lion dancing group in San Francisco, California. There are boys and girls on its team. They dance together.

"Anyone can take up lion dancing. You have to believe that you can do it," says Ananda Tang-Lee,a17-year-old girl.

Lion dancing will continue to evolve(演变). But a team's sense of community will never change. "We call it a family," Ananda says. "It's really great, because we always have each other's backs."

Every year, a cheerful festival takes place on the beach in France. It's the International Kite Festival in Berck-sur-Mer.

In 2024, the 37th International Kite Festival in Berck-sur-Mer opened on April 20th. China was the first-ever guest country of honour(主宾国) at the event. People could enjoy many Chinese kites and learn kite-making skills from the experts from Weifang, Shandong—— known as the"kite capital of the world".

Actually, kites are a symbol of the friendship between China and France. In 1958, the Chinese and French people made a film called The Magic of the Kite together. It tells of the friendship between Chinese and French children created through a kite. Liu Hongge, director of the China Cultural Center in Paris, said, "We will continue using kites as a tool to tell stories about the kite culture in China and France. This can help the two nations understand each other better and make the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism a success."

Since its first celebration, the festival has become the largest kite-themed event in France. People from25 countries and regions(地区) took part in it this year. At the festival, visitors could not only admire many different kinds of kites, traditional and modern, small and large, but also visit kite-making workshops, watch art performances and take part in DIY activities.

"I hope the festival can improve the friendship between the two countries. And I believe more young people will get to know about Chinese kites and their role in traditional Chinese culture," one of the Chinese workers said.

Two months ago, when our class election(选举) started, I decided to run for class president. 

I enjoyed speaking in public and got along well with people, so I felt it 1 to win. But I was afraid that people would feel bad for me if I lost.

I was busy preparing in the following week. My plan wasn't to make promises to do things I couldn't manage but to show my class 2 I wanted to be the president. I put up my posters in hallways and in the classroom. I also spent three hours writing my speech, saying that I was the one they could turn to whenever they had a problem. Since I was 3 prepared, I felt that my chances of winning were strong.

However, when I gave my speech on Election Day, the situation wasn't what I had 4 . Few people actually listened. When it was my opponent's(对手的) turn, everyone was screaming his name. His speech wasn't long, 5 all to the point. By then, I realized I should have made min e 6 .

It was clear who would 7 . For the rest of the day just go home and cry, but I made it through.

I was right. I didn't win. The next day, people were still talking about the election. I just pretended not to hear. But later, things got better. People forgot about the election and talked to me just as they did 8 .

I don't regret(后悔) putting 9 and energy into the election because I've learned that things aren't always going the way I expect. And moments of 10 like this build character. Since then, I' ve learned to face disappointment and grow stronger.

Peter: First, when people are speaking English, I can't understand them.

Jane:  The English club meets after school on Mondays.

Hi John,

How are things going there? We're all fine. And we   see you again on New Year's Eve. Dad plans to buy some fireworks and we all want to  in Mom's favorite restaurant. Now we're enjoying having a few days off. We need to relax and do some shopping. We also hope to visit Aunt Anne next week before we  to work. But it depends whether it will snow or not. It's quite difficult to her house when there is snow. Usually, she asks us to wait until spring. She says she will come to visit us soon. Oh, let me know when you arrive and I will let Dad meet you  . He will try to get there earlier.
