The parents in the movie Home Alone have faced a very different end in real life for leaving their children at Home alone. 

The police went to a family's home in Indiana after receiving an anonymous tip(匿名举报). And a seven-year-old boy and his four-year-old brother were found inside the house with no adults. The police said the boys happened to be watching Home Alone on television, a 1990 film about the adventures of an eight-year-old boy who is left behind at night when his family takes a trip to Paris for Christmas.

One of the (reason) for the drop could be the rise of online food delivery services. They can bring you food no matter  you are. They also offer more choices and taster food. About 70 percent of young people order meals online at least once a week according to  recent survey by China Youth Daily. This shows that Chinese people now have higher expectations for the quality of their food. 

Facing this challenge, instant food companies made up their mind (improve) their products and make instant noodles with less fat and salt. Now they are m king new products, including self-heating hotpot and instant rice. Those can be fit the tastes  young people

Off the northwest coast of Malaysia, a group of islands called Langkawi sits upon the sea. It's the destination (目的地) of our recent1 trip. To be honest, it was exciting at first, but later, something bad happened. I lost one of my 2 , which nearly drove me crazy. But life was really amazing, I felt different at last. Let me share my trip with you.

The writer Jerry Craft (J) was refused many times before his graphic novel（漫画小说）New Kid came out. Now a reporter (R) from The Week Junior spoke to him about his life and his new graphic novel School Trip. 

R: Was it difficult when you kept getting refused?

J: Yes, but it didn't stop me from making books. I ended up writing more than 25 books before New Kid. When I visited schools in the past, no one read my books. But now I go to a school and 300 kids have already read my works.

①When I was a boy, my mom used to say I would read the back of a medicine bottle if I didn't have a book in my hand. It was true, and even now that reading habit has been with me. I always have at least one book being read, and sometimes I might have two or three. And I'm talking about real books, books made out of paper, books that you can hold in your hands, to read, at the table, on the subway or my favorite place to read— in the bath. 

②But the number of people reading books is dropping. A recent survey tells us that Chinese people only read 4. 77 printed books a year on average and in the US, 25 percent of the population say they didn't read a book last year! So what's stopping people from reading?

④Healthy experts advise people to eat a mix of healthy foods, with about half of your everyday calories coming from carbs（碳水化合物）. They also encourage people to eat until 70% full for long-term weight control. Keeping a regular sleep habit is also important because staying up late can lead to unhealthy eating habits and weight gain. 

①Do you enjoy growing a garden? Do you think growing a garden is easy? Maybe it seems impossible for you since you live in an apartment without a yard. Don't worry! Gardens come in all shape: and sizes. With a good planning and a few tips, you can even grow your own garden in the small space.

The 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature went to the South Korean writer Han Kang.  October 10th, the 53-year-old writer was awarded the prize for her"poetic prose". She is the (one) South Korean writer to win the prize. 

Han  (keep) writing since her first prose came out in the 1990s. One of her  (good) works is The Vegetarian. It tells the story of a woman's decision to stop  (eat) meat and her family's worry about her mental health.  novel was also translated into English later.

What did you do during National Day? I visited the Yellow Mountain, a (自然的) wonder in China. I went there by bus and there were a lot of  (乘客) on it. Maybe most of people wanted to take a holiday to relax  (自己) after their hard work. Later, at a bus stop, an old man got on the bus. He  (设法) to find a seat to sit down. A girl beside me got up quickly and picked up her big but  (空的) bag and said, "Please take this seat, Grandpa. " The old man showed his thanks and sat down. It was not  (寂静的) in the bus and not many people  (注意到) this. But I could feel the sign of warmth around us. As soon as I got to the place of interest, I could see some flowers and  (旗帜). It was simply a beautiful place. While I was climbing the mountain, I met a soldier. He told me his life stories and they really moved me. On the top of the mountain, we ate some snacks,  (包括) some fruits, fried chicken and corn. I really had great fun and learned something  (有用的) from others.

Before the festival arrives, people often clean their houses carefully to welcome the Torch Festival. This means getting rid of the old and welcoming the new. During the festival, people light torches and carry them around. There are also different activities such as dancing, singing and sheep fighting. People wear their traditional clothes and enjoy delicious food. 

The Torch Festival holds great meanings. It stands for people's expectation of light, hope, and success. It is also a time for families to be together. What's more, it develops cultural exchanges and understanding in different ethnic groups（族群）。

The festival attracts the attention of people from all over the world. More people are increasingly interested in this festival. However, this also brings some worries. Efforts will be made to reduce the bad influence on the environment while keeping the traditional cultural customs.
