Eddie was excited to wait for the mountain bike race. He trained hard for a long time. 

Perhaps he would finally win this year. 

When Eddie heard "Go!", he got away quickly. The road was with lots of sudden turns, but Eddie was ready for them. As he went around the last corner(拐角),he realized his friend Riley was the only rider in front of him. Eddie tried harder and    ▲   Riley. Then he was in the lead. Eddie could see the finish line at the top of the next hill. People began to cheer and Eddie heard his father's voice. 

After a short while, Eddie heard a cry. He saw Riley lying on the road with his bike ontop of him. Any minute now, the other riders would rush to him over the hill. But Eddie jumped off his bike and ran to help Riley. Luckily he was not hurt. Then they quickly moved Riley's bike off the road. The other riders sped(加速) past the finish line and Eddie heard  a cheer for the winner. 

Slowly, Eddie pushed his bike to the finish line. His eyes watered with disappointment(望) . Then, to his surprise, Eddie saw people cheering for him. And there was his dad, with the proudest  smile of all. He said loudly ". . . . "

It's 6: 00 p. m. Kate's family are having dinner. There is rice, eggs, salads, strawberries and some vegetables like tomatoes, onions and carrots on the table. But Kate doesn't like vegetables. She doesn't want to eat them and puts her bowl away. 

"Kate," says her father. 

"Where are my hamburgers?" asks Kate. 

"Don't think about them. We need to eat healthily," says Mom. 

"How about some ice-cream, then?" asks Kate. 

"Kate," Dad calls her name again. He thinks the dinner is nice. 

Kate takes a bite (咬一口) of the tomato and quickly spits (吐出) it back into the bowl. 

"Kate! Room! Now!" says Dad. He doesn't like her bad eating habits. 

Kate runs to her room and cries, but she soon stops. Usually, her parents will get her some other food she likes if she doesn't eat dinner. So she waits. 

At about 7: 00 p. m. , Mom tries to get Kate to eat some vegetables, but she says no. 

At 9: 00 p. m. , Kate wants to eat something, but her parents still don't give her anything to eat. 

At 10: 00 p. m. , Kate goes to the kitchen and sees some vegetables on the table. They don't look so bad. And you know what? They don't taste so bad, either. 

Kate learns that she should eat healthy food and live a healthy life. 

There is a new school near Chennai, India. You might find students in a study room full of trees or a test kitchen. They aren't in an old-style（旧式的） classroom. The school wants to teach children how to be happy. Learning knowledge comes next. Learning for tests is not the only purpose of teaching. 

"To be happy is very important to help people live a great life, " said Vivek Reddy from the Riverbend School. "If you think of old-style schools, the most important thing is learning knowledge. " said Danish Kurani, head of the new school. "But we want to give happy kids to the world. And let them go out into the world and do some good things. "

    Students in the new school can pick the lessons they want to learn. Teachers help them learn how to think by themselves. The school also has rooms for films, music, art and dancing, and small shops where students can run their own businesses, The teachers want to make a difference to the education. Students can learn something more than knowledge.

It is hard to solve these problems because it will need a lot of money.  People are working on a big program called the Great Green Wall to stop deserts from getting big, and they are doing better than expected.

We arrived at our new house in the city. I took my dog Max with me. Grandpa offered to keep Max on his farm but I refused.

Although I would visit Grandpa every weekend, I couldn't give up Max for five days a week! Dad and Mom started cleaning the new house and I took a chain(链条), tied it to Max's neck and walked him to the yard. I felt sorry when he looked at me with sad eyes. He wanted to run freely. At last, Friday came and we packed to go to the farm to visit Grandpa.

From friendships to work stress, more Chinese people are now using AI tools like DeepSeek to talk about their problems. They share feelings with the chatbot(聊天机器人) and get warm advice.This is called "AI therapy(疗愈)", which is becoming popular online. But can robots really take the place of human therapists（治疗师）?

Around the world, 45 percent of people who needed mental(心理的)health care in 2024 did not get it because it was too expensive or there weren't enough doctors, according to Huntington Psychological Services. Daniel Lowd, a professor (教授)at the University of Oregon, believes AI could help solve these problems. "If people can find some support and ideas by talking to ChatGPT or chatbot Claude, then I think that's wonderful," Lowd told Newsweek. Li Yong, a doctor at the Jiangsu Province Hospital, agreed with Lowd, saying that AI meets people's needs for emotional(情绪上的)support to a point

However, AI has its limits. Human therapists understand feelings deeply through face-to-face talks and create personalized treatment(个性化治疗)plans--something robots can't fully copy. Another problem is safety. AI might act like a therapist without proper training or rules. It can't be as responsible（负责的）as human therapists.

Experts believe the key to safe AI therapy is strict government control. For example, Wysa, an AI mental health app, follows strict medical standards（标准）in the UK . As AI becomes part of daily life, finding a balance(平衡)between its benefits(效益)and risks is important. While AI offers quick help, human connection keeps irreplaceable for serious emotional needs.
