Have you ever heard of Wang Zhenyi? Perhaps most of us didn't know this great name until she  (introduce) in a CCTV programme.

Wang Zhenyi was a great Chinese scientist. She was born in the Qing Dynasty. At that time, girls had no chance  (get) a formal (正规的) education. , her father and grandfather were open-minded. They thought girls should share the same opportunities with boys. They encouraged her to read the books in their home library. Wang Zhenyi educated  (she) and read a lot about astronomy (the study of the stars, planets, etc.), maths, geography as well as medicine.

Throughout her short life, Wang Zhenyi wrote many articles about her research. In her articles, she explained difficult ideas in clear and  (simply) ways so that people could understand science more easily. She helped make science available to more people. She made a great contribution (贡献) to astronomy at that time.

Money may not buy happiness, but it helps. Many teenagers want to learn how to manage money before going out into the world.  This idea is raised by Dr. Mara Harvey, a money expert. The following are some of her tips.

Learn to make money. Ask parents or neighbors if you can do chores to make pocket money. These could include washing a car or taking the dog for a walk.  In this way, you can also improve your communication skills, which will help when you have a grown-up job, too.

Help your money grow. Money can't grow if it's sitting inside a piggy bank. Put your money in the bank and you can get interest (利息).  One day you may feel surprised at how much money you have.

Make a plan. If you have a big event, such as a holiday coming up, it might mean you will need to spend more of your pocket money. Try making a plan for spending and saving.  Then it will help you take control of your money.

 Figure out how much you can reasonably spend each month. Spend your money on what you truly need. Then try to cut down on spending. For example, rather than eating out, you can choose to cook at home.

On November 21, a special soccer match was held in Doha, the capital of Qatar. This was not the 2022 World Cup, but a friendly match between Chinese youth players and Qatari youth players.

The match was supported by a famous company. With its help, the 11 Chinese teenagers played matches, watched World Cup matches and participated in more football-related activities in Qatar from Nov. 19 to 23.

"Football is the most popular sport in the world. We hope Chinese youth love football and grow up healthily," said Lu Minfang, chairman of the company. To achieve this goal, he has also organized soccer training camps and donated 10,000 balls and some training equipment to schools.

How did these youth players feel? Because these teenagers worked as student journalists for Teen 21, they shared their experiences in Qatar with its readers.

What impressed (留下深刻印象) Chinese captain Huang Junyu most was their fierce (激烈的) match with Qatari youth players. They trailed (落后) by three goals in the first half. But in the second half, Huang Bo scored a hat-trick—three goals in a row—to end the game in a draw. "Qatar is good at attacking, but we have the spirit of never giving up," Huang said after the match.

The 11 Chinese players include three girls. Wu Tong is one of them. She played for 50 minutes in the friendly match. She said, "It's great that girls and boys can play together. Although we girls may be weaker physically, we are good observers and we have calm minds."

Though not as important as the 2022 World Cup, what they did promoted culture exchange between the two nations. Chinese teenagers brought Cuju to the game. The young players from both sides changed into traditional Chinese Cuju costume and experienced the traditional Chinese football culture together. "We could do a lot of fancy moves in Cuju. Both sides had a great time," said Zhang Lu of China.

Peng Jingxuan, a 26-year-old Chinese girl, is now studying in a music university in Paris. While learning abroad, she is also working at spreading traditional Chinese culture to the world. She can often be found on French streets, wearing a silk Han Dynasty-style dress and playing the guzheng to passers-by.

Born in 1995, Peng began to learn the guzheng when she was seven years old. After arriving in France in late 2017, she saw many people do street performances, but few of them knew about Chinese music. So she decided to play the guzheng on the streets.

Peng made her first performance in front of a theater in October, 2018. "I was very nervous at that time, but a lot of people said they enjoyed my performance," Peng said. Then she started to perform during weekends and holidays. After being asked plenty of times by local people about the guzheng, Peng now carries a book that explains the instrument to foreigners. Later, she posted her first video of playing the guzheng online and it spread quickly. From then on, Peng has posted many videos of her street performances. The videos have got many likes and made her a very popular guzheng artist. She has millions of fans on the Internet now.

More and more people show great interest in the guzheng after watching Peng's performances. "People come to me and praise me for the beauty of the instrument and the music. Every time they ask me which country the guzheng comes from, I am very happy to tell them it's from China." Peng feels she has more responsibility to spread traditional culture. "What is national is universal. I hope to play a bigger role in making Chinese music known by the world." said Peng.

When I was young, I loved to read biographies (自传) of successful public figures, from ancient times to modern 1 , from China to abroad. They never failed to 2 me. And from all these successful people, I always find one common characteristic—grit.

Bags of love

Last year, I worked in a middle school near my mother's house, and I stayed with her for a month. During that time, I helped her do some housework and buy some 1 .

Why Should You Learn a Second Language?

In today's highly-connected world, there are many reasons for learning a second language. Here are a few of them. 

You can talk with more people.

Talking in someone's language does two things. It shows respect(尊重) and it allows you to connect on a deeper level. You might be surprised at how open people are when you speak their language. 

Learning a language isn't just about learning words and grammar. It's also about learning about the history and culture of a country. Learning new languages can open up your eyes and bring you closer to people of different countries. 

Traveling is easier and more fun.

Traveling is much easier if you speak the language of the place you visit. It will help you learn more about the place. The people there know their city better than any visitors. 

It makes you smarter.

Learning a second language improves your brain.  The more you use your brain to learn, the more active your brain will become.

What will the future world be like? Many believe that technology will help solve some of the most difficult problems we have today, such as pollution and hunger. Others worry as old problems are solved, new ones may appear. No technology is all good, as these three examples tell. 

When dreaming about the future, many of us hope we can go to different places in our own flying car. Everyone can clearly see the good part of the idea. This technology would allow us to move freely. We could fly really fast, getting away from traffic lights and busy roads. However, some people believe if the cars become popular, there will be air traffic problems. Another big problem is mechanical failure. What will happen if the cars break down or suddenly stop working in the sky? These are problems we must expect if flying cars become real. 

3D printing is another new technology with exciting possibilities. 3D printers are used to build things with liquid(液体) plastic. Car companies already use 3D printers to make life-size models of car parts and medical companies use the technology to make man-made body parts, such as ears. Before long, it might be possible to see something on a website and then print it out with a 3D printer at home. If so, 3D printing will change the way we shop and the way we make. The weak point is that such machine will be very expensive. 

Finally, imagine having your own Iron Man suit. Several companies are trying to build a real robot exoskeleton (外骨骼). This is a special suit with robot arms and legs which follows the wearer's movement. Exoskeletons allow you to lift heavy things, walk long ways and even get through walls! This technology may bring hopes to disabled people. The suit might help people walk again after illness. However, one bad thing at the moment is cost. Another problem is battery (电池) life. A heavy suit like this needs a lot of power, and battery life is short. 

Looking ahead, although there are some problems to solve before all of this is possible, we can certainly dream of a world where technology makes life easier and safer for millions of people . 

Li Ziqi, a Chinese Internet star famous for sharing traditional skills, made her first appearance at the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala. Her performance became one of the most exciting moments of the show. 

A Magical Opening Scene 

The gala started with Li Ziqi standing on the stage. When the camera focused on her, large butterfly wings made with Weifang kite and gold-weaving skills opened behind her. Robotic____butterflies flew around her, creating a beautiful scene. This mix of modern technology and traditional art surprised the audience. 

A Dress Full of Traditional Skills 

Li's dress showed many traditional crafts. It used plant dyeing (coloring cloth with leaves), bamboo weaving, and Qiang embroidery (花). 

The butterfly designs on her dress included Chengdu lacquer (漆) art and Yingshan silk flowers. In total, 13 different intangible cultural heritage (ICH) skills were used "Every part of this dress tells a story from the past. " Li said. 

Why It Matters 

As a "Sichuan ICH Ambassador", Li's performance taught young people about traditional arts. After the show, many viewers searched online to learn about these skills. "I never knew bamboo weaving could be so interesting!" wrote a teenage fan on social media. 

Li Ziqi proved that old traditions can live in modern times. Her performance reminded everyone: cultural heritage is not just history--it is a treasure for the future. 

Last summer, my son, Eric, left for university in another country. Our once lively house became quiet and lonely. I missed and worried him so much that I started sending him messages on the phone, mainly to say hello or to give him a word of warming. 

One of my messages says, "So you told me you lost your wallet. If you are always careless, one day you'll wake up and find yourself lost. " 

I did get Eric's messages, but most of them were about money. I was a bit angry. They    were    not    different    from    the    notes    he    used    to    leave    on    the    whiteboard    when    he    was    at    home. 

"I bought a new pair of shoes. They cost me $90. Please help!" 

"Money is running short because I've bought some books for my research paper. Help me please!" 

Recently, however, Eric begins to send me all kinds of articles. Some are funny, some are touching and some make me think. He knows I haven't got many things to do in my free time. He says they will help me understand young men better and keep up with the times. 

I read the articles slowly, like a careful student, with mixed feelings as well. My kid, who followed me around not long ago, has now become my teacher! 

So I write back, "I've read all those articles, I'll take them as a loving son's hopes towards his mother. He must be thinking that his mother is still young enough to accept new things. That makes me feel proud. We parents can't learn quickly and change in both body and mind. Thank you, my son. " 

In this way we share ideas, with a gentle and beautiful language we seldom use.
