The school sent a list of reminders home: wear comfortable shoes (you'll walk 3-4 miles), bring a water bottle, and leave electronics in your bag during exhibits. "This trip is about exploring, not scrolling," said Principal Liu in the morning announcement.

Students are already asking questions. "Can we buy souvenirs?" asked Tim. "The gift shop has small items like dinosaur stickers and astronaut keychains," replied Ms. Wang. "But bring only a little money—you won't need much."

Jack taught himself to play the guitar when he was 12. It started with a dusty old guitar in his grandpa's attic—brown, with a few scratches, but still playable. "Why don't you try it?" his grandpa suggested. "I taught myself to play at your age." Jack was curious, so he took it home.

The first week was frustrating. His fingers hurt from pressing the strings, and he couldn't play a single chord properly. He wanted to give up, but then he found free tutorials online. "There are hundreds of videos on YouTube," he said. "I watched one every night, pausing to practice each step."

Jack focused on simple songs first—Happy Birthday and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. He practiced for 30 minutes daily, even when his fingers ached. After three months, he could play Let It Be by The Beatles, his favorite song. "My mom recorded me and sent it to grandpa," he said. "He called me crying—said it was the best gift ever."

Now 14, Jack plays in his school's music club. His teacher, Ms. Lee, says his skills set him apart from other students. "He has a natural feel for rhythm, which you can't always teach," she said. "And he's always helping others—showing them how to hold the guitar or change chords."

Jack still practices daily, often staying up late on weekends to learn new songs. "Music helps me express myself," he said. "When I'm stressed about exams, playing for an hour makes everything better. It's like having a friend who listens without judging."

This year, he's teaching his little sister to play. "She's 8, and her fingers are too small for some chords," he laughed. "But we take it slow—just like I did. Who knows? Maybe we'll start a band someday."
