April 24th is China's Space Day. Since Yang Liwei went into space in 2003, about 20 Chinese astronauts have traveled there. 

In space, astronauts have many problems. There is almost no gravity（重力）, which makes their bodies weak. Staying in a small spaceship for a long time without family and friends can make them feel lonely or sad. Also, if something breaks suddenly, they must fix it quickly under great stress. That's why astronauts need to be clever, strong, and ready for any problem before going to space. 

To help astronauts work safely and come back to Earth, they have 8 types of training with over 200 topics. They train for at least three and a half years. This includes physical exercise, science lessons, and practice for space tasks. 

One of the hardest parts of training is underwater work. This helps astronauts get used to weightlessness. They wear diving suits（潜水服）over 100 kilos and stay underwater for six hours each time. 

"Take out the rubbish, clean the living room, do the dishes, and sweep the floor, " said Jewel' s mother. "Jewel, you have to help me 1 we can finish the chores faster!"

Wonderful hobby, colourful life

I have a wonderful hobby. It makes my life colourful.

Ben Cheng was a 63-year-old teacher from Changchun, Jilin. She has cycled over 100, 000kilometers over the last eight years. 

"I' ve kept up all kinds of sports like swimming and mountain climbing for many years, " she said. "After retirement（退休）, I had more time for my hobbies. I found cycling to be a good choice, because it was more friendly to the environment. "

She started cycling in 2017. In May 2019, she began her first long journey——a ride around Bohai Bay. It took her 24 days to finish the trip. This success encouraged her to do more. 

Together with other cycling lovers, Ben started the ancient Silk Road journey from Xi' an on May 21, 2024. She crossed cities like Lanzhou, Dunhuang and Jiayuguan, and finally arrived in Urumqi（乌鲁木齐）on June 18. "Though I faced difficulties like storms and terrible road conditions, the views were enjoyable. " she said. 

Guess what? After finishing the Silk Road journey, she immediately began planning her next trip. She said she hoped more people would try cycling. 

Nowadays, weight management（管理）is receiving much attention. The National Health Commission（国家健康委员会）has a t three-year activity called"Weight Management Year". Taking good care of our health is as  as studying hard. Here are some simple and useful to help us stay fit. 

First, we need to eat right. Follow a"vegetables first, then meat or beans , then rice or bread" eating order. This way, you can control the calories（卡路里）you eat. Stay away from junk food such hamburgers, chips and soda. They are high in sugar, salt, and fat, they aren't good for our health. Second, regular exercise is necessary. Exercise can make stronger and happier. Even taking a walk after dinner is than sitting on the sofa all day. Third, we also need enough sleep. Most middle school students need about 9 hours' sleep each night. A good night's sleep helps us  fresh and ready to learn the next day.  get better sleep, go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. Don't play with your phone or watch TV  bedtime, as the light from the screen can make it hard to fall asleep.

Exercise in Space:In space, the onvironmon t is very different from that on Earth. Astronauts must exercise every day to stay healthy. So they exercise 2 hours every day. The space station has special equipment（设备）, like a running machine, to help them exercise easily. 

Staying Clean: On Earth, we take showers. But in space, without gravity（重力）, water floats away! In the special" bathroom" in Tiangong, Astronauts use a wet towel to wipe（擦）their bodies. 

Space Food: What do astronauts eat? They eat 120 kinds of food, including bread, porridge, and traditional Chinese dishes like Kung Pao Chicken! They put the food in a special fridge to keep it cool. Do you know? Food tastes less strong in space, because astronauts' tongues feel different. 

Doing Important Work: Astronauts do science experiments that they can't do on Earth. They grow rice in small boxes to see how plants grow without gravity. They watch how fire burns in round shapes. . . . The work in Tiangong helps people on Earth make better medicine and cleaner energy. 

Talking to Family: Do astronauts miss home? Yes! With special communication equipment, astronauts can make"sky-to-earth" calls and talk to their families from anywhere in the space station.
