The Chongyang Festival is a Chinese traditional festival. It is celebrated on  ninth day of the ninth lunar month. It's also  the Double Ninth Festival.

The festival started as early as the Warring States Period (475—221 BC). It has a  of more than 1,700 years. Among the numbers from zero  nine, nine is the highest odd number (奇数). People believe that two "nines" meeting together means a long life.  it is a special holiday for Chinese people to show love and respect for their elders. They hold many  of activities in honor of old people and wish them good health and a  life.

The festival comes during the golden season of autumn. On the day, people traditionally, eat Double-Ninth Cakes  climb mountains. They also carry a kind of plant named dogwood.

People in ancient times believed that  could drive away evil (邪恶的) spirits and stop them from  an illness in winter. The young should keep the tradition in mind and celebrate the Chinese traditional festival.

Zhang Jiacheng lost the lower half of his right arm in an accident at the age of 5. Life used to be really hard for him.

Now, the 14-year-old boy from Yunfu city, Guangdong, has gone popular for his basketball skills in a video on Sina Weibo. "I want to be a popular basketball player, playing more games and letting more people know me," Zhang says.

In the video, Zhang plays with one hand against his match, who is taller and stronger, and makes a shoot, driving the fans crazy. His videos have been watched about 32 million times. Some Weibo users found his story inspiring, commenting (评论) that "God knows what he has been through". Below the video, CBA's famous player, Yi Jianlian, commented that "The heart is always the strongest part of the body."

At 12, Zhang Jiacheng began playing basketball. The sport became his excitement and dream. But in the beginning, he found even the simplest moves difficult. "Things that make you a better person mean you may feel uncomfortable on the way," Zhang wrote in his latest Douyin video. "The sport makes me happy and confident. When I touch the ball, I cannot take my hand off."

Zhang is strong-minded and hard-working. "You make me proud," his father said. Just like what he wrote in one of his Douyin videos, "Give it a try, or give it up." He choose to keep trying.

September the 11th of 2001 was one of the saddest days in recent history for Americans and all people who love peace. On that day, terrorists (恐怖分子) took control of four passenger planes and flew them into the Pentagon (五角大楼——美国国防部所在地) in Virginia and the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York. The Twin Towers fell down within two hours. Thousands of people working in the building died. The fourth plane crashed (坠毁) in Pennsylvania. The attacks killed around 3,000 people.

After the attack, the US government tried to find the mastermind (策划者) behind the tragedy. They believed it was Osama bin Laden, the leader of AL-Qaeda (基地组织), who organized the attacks. So catching bin Laden became a major task for the US after September 11. On May 2 of this year, the US army finally found bin Laden in Pakistan and killed him.

The September 11 attacks also made Americans realize one thing—not everyone in the world loves the US. The threat of terrorism from abroad became a main factor in US politics. The government has also worked to make airports and airplanes as safe as possible.

On the anniversary (周年纪念日) of the September 11 attacks, people across the US will remember those who died in the terrorist attacks. There will be public ceremonies and moments of silence. People will also gather at the sites of the attacks, sing songs and share memories.

I've been learning English since I was 7. The first few years were really 1 to me! We, my brother and I had to learn words and grammar 2 , which seemed boring and difficult to us. At that time we 3 felt the need to learn English.
