Xu Xiake is a famous traveler in the Ming Dynasty(朝代). 

He started his great travel by visiting some places near his hometown. In 1613, he started from Zhejiang, and then visited Tiantai Mountain and Yandang Mountain. During the next few years, he traveled along the Changjiang River. He visited Yangzhou, Hangzhou and many other cities. 

In January, 1637, he went to Hunan. He traveled south along the Xiangjiang River, and visited many places in the south of China like Guilin. In 1639, he got to the westernmost(最西边的) place in his life—Tengchong in Yunnan.  

He met many difficulties during his journey, but he didn't give up. Every time he met difficulties, he tried his best to solve(解决) them. He traveled to most places of China. He is really a great traveler. 

There are many ways for us to travel around. 

Riding a bike is good way to travel around. It is good for your health and the enviroment as well. You can also feel close to nature when riding a bike. But you can't go very far on a bike because it is tiring(令人疲倦的).

Taking a bus is cheap. Buses can carry many people at the same time. But you have to wait for the bus. Sometimes the bus can't take you where you want to go, and you still have to walk or ride a bike for a while.

Taking a plane is also a great way to travel around. But the airport(机场) is usually very far from the city center, so we need to set off from our home early to catch the plane. Once Jack wanted to get on the 8:00 a.m. flight(航班), he needed to get up at around 5:00 a.m., or he may not get on board(登机) on time(准时). 

Now, the high-speed train is very hot. Plenty of people like to travel around by high-speed train. Maybe in the future, there will be more ways of traveling around... 

It was sunny last Sunday. I went to a park for a picnic with four of my friends. 

After the picnic, we went boating on the lake. The lake was about 9 meters deep and was clean and blue. We rowed and sang songs together on the boat. We could also see some fish swimming in the lake. Liangliang wanted to catch a fish. We told him it was not safe and asked him not to do that. But he didn't listen to us and leaned(倾斜) out to catch the fish. In the end, he fell into the lake. We were worried and cried for help. Luckily, some people came over and helped save him. We thanked them a lot. Liangliang was frightened(害怕的) and wanted to go back to the bank. So we went back to the bank and spent the rest of the day on the grassland, enjoying the sunlight. 

To make the community(社区) cleaner, there is a pick-up-rubbish activity for children under 12 years old in Lily's community. At first, she gets a piece of poster.
