Do you get in trouble for feeding your dog on food from dinner under the table? A new study suggests that by sharing "people food", you might actually be helping to keep your pet healthy.
Many dogs are fed dry processed food. Science has shown that a diet of processed food is not healthy for humans. Scientists from the University of Helsinki, in Finland, says this diet is not good for our pet dogs, either.
The scientists discovered that the foods a dog might find in an owner's home─ such as eggs, fish, meat and vegetables─may be better than a diet of just dog food. This is because having different kinds of food leads to more variety(多样性) in microbes, which are little living things, too small to be seen with our eyes. There are millions of them in human and animal bodies. Some are bad for us, but many are good for us, and they play important roles in helping us digest(消化) food.
A total of 8,500 young pet dogs took part in the study. 4,500 of them were under 6 months old, and the rest were between 6 and 18 months old. The owners were asked about what foods they had fed their pets and how often. When the dogs reached adulthood, their owners reported that about 20% of the dogs showed CE symptoms(慢性肠胃不适症状) such as weight loss. However, if dogs had been fed a mixed diet while young, it was 22% less possible for them to experience CE symptoms later in life.
Dr. Anna Hielm-Bjorkman told The Times of London, "Dog foods on sale are described as providing a complete diet...But what we show is that variety is important. Nobody would give 12 years of the same food to a child ———why should a dog be different?"
(1)、According to the new study, dog owners ____.A、can feed dogs on "people food" B、must offer dry food to their dogs C、shouldn't make food by themselves D、had better buy more processed food(2)、Paragraph 3 mainly explains why ____.A、people should keep dogs at home B、dogs need different kinds of foods C、scientists study dry processed food D、little living things stay in human bodies(3)、How does the writer describe the study in Paragraph 4 to make it believable?A、By using pictures. My dear boys and girls, good morning. Today I'm going to talk to you, about my understanding of learning history.
Many of you may think it is a terrible thing to study history. You may often wonder why we students should study something that has nothing to do with our own lives. If you think that way, I should say you are far from the truth.
In fact, if we study history, we can learn quite a lot about personal stories and events(事件) of people just like us. The people who came before us helped build and develop the country we are living in. Their ideas often solved many of our problems and troubles. Studying the past helps us to understand what our ancestors' lives were like. And it also helps us to see how their experiences have shaped our own life.
To be honest, . Some of what we study in history helps us understand the mistakes of the past. And these mistakes will help people not to do the same wrong things. People often learn from the past to have a better future.
Whether we like the subject of history or not, we must understand the importance of the events and the people who came before us. Our ancestors' decisions have influenced our own life. Similarly, the decisions of our own generation will finally influence those who come after us. In this only way, the world is truly connected.
History is not just a study of the past. History is the study of people, places, and events that can influence the future.
Now do you still think studying history is a sad thing? Or do you have any doubt about learning history? If you have any question, just feel free to ask.
(1)、What kind of writing is the passage about?A、A diary. B、A story. C、A speech. D、A letter.(2)、Which of the following can be put in the "____" in Paragraph 4?A、the mistakes of the past won't help us B、I don't like the idea of learning history C、it is not easy to learn the subject of history D、not everything that happened in the past is good(3)、According to Paragraph 5, the decisions of our generation will ____.A、show what is happening to us B、build and develop our country C、influence the people in the future D、help understand the people in the past(4)、The writer wrote the passage to ____.A、introduce some important people in history B、develop students' interest in learning history C、explain different people's understanding of history D、show the relationship between the past and the future -

For as long as we can remember, one of the most popular ways parents use to punish their children has been the "time out".
It seems that it is a good idea: the child sits on his own to reflect(反思) on what he has done. Then, when the time is up, he will apologize and learn from the mistake.
However, just because it's something that's been done for years, that doesn't mean it is the right thing to do. In fact, very often, children don't sit nicely and think about what they've done. Instead, they need to be told a few (or many) times to go back to their places and stay quiet. They're not reflecting on why they are in the "time out" at all. More likely than not, they're probably just really angry, and so are the parents. In the end, both the parents and the children make each other unhappy, or even angry.
What can parents do to change this situation? You may have already heard of things like peaceful parenting(育儿) and gentle parenting. These focus on the relationship between parent and child through building trust and love. So, instead of starting a "time out", try something called "time in". A "time in" needs both parent and child to stay close until both get calm. After that, the parent and child can discuss what happened and solve the problem together. If the child can make changes, everyone can then move on.
As we all know, punishment and violence(暴力) seldom work and will never teach the children what the right way to act is. A "time in" can be the great time for the children to learn through mistakes. Kids learn how to build their emotional and social skills through difficult situations. So, instead of punishing them for acting their age, we can use chances to teach and guide them to a place of learning.
A "time in" may take more time, but it does work.
(1)、During a "time out", a child is told to ____.A、stay outside B、make a promise C、sit alone and reflect D、return to school(2)、In the writer's opinion, a "time out" ____.A、is becoming more popular B、doesn't always work C、should be parents' first choice D、takes too much time(3)、When a child has done something wrong, the writer suggests that ____.A、both teachers and parents discuss how to solve the problem B、parents try something called "time in" instead of "time out" C、the child say sorry to his or her parents and learn from mistakes D、the child stay at home and reflect until he never makes mistake(4)、Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?A、Why Not "Time In"? B、Learn From Mistakes C、"Time Out" or "Time In"? D、No Violence at Home! -

With schools closed and restrictions(限制) on public activities, it can be a difficult time for young people, who suddenly can't spend time with their friends and family in person.
However, the situation has already led to some creative ways of using technology to keep in touch with those people, from video calls and group chats to online games. Experts say that young people might find the social restrictions on seeing their friends in real life stressful, which is why technology can be helpful.
"Keeping relationships is very important for health," says Dr Amanda Gummer, creator of Dr Gummer's Good Play Guide. She adds that this is more important the older you get. "Not maintaining these friendships can make it more difficult for you to get back into school when the time comes," she says. Chezzy Kennedy, from a training program called Confident Kids, agrees."Staying connected to those we care about is even more important now than ever before," she says. "We can suddenly feel quite lonely."
Messaging apps and video calls are good for checking in with friends, or organizing group chats to keep in touch. "Video chats are a great way to keep connected with your wider friendship group," says Gummer. Experts agree that there are plenty of ways to be creative with video chats besides talking to friends. Gummer suggests, "A virtual(虚拟的) film-and-pizza night can work well."
Sharna Jackson, an expert on young people and technology, has lots of ideas too. She suggests taking turns to teach friends something you're really good at— such as painting and drawing, perhaps. She also thinks that online games can play a really good role.
"It's good to play together. It's social; there's problem-solving and turn taking, and it helps you develop different skills," she says.

A mindset is the way of thinking. Your mindset can affect almost every part of your daily life. Dr Carol Dweck, a scientist who studies how the mind works, has discovered that people with a fixed(固定的) mindset deal with problems in a different way from those with growth mindset.
Imagine that two students, Anna and Amy, are taking a really hard math test in September. Anna has a fixed mindset, which means she believes that a person's intelligence is fixed. Amy has a growth mindset, which means she believes that the intelligence can grow. Not everyone can become a genius, but they can improve the skills they have and develop new ones.
So which is right? It's Amy. Believe it or not, research shows that you really can get smarter by working hard, practicing, and challenging yourself
As you know, your brain is made up of billions of neurons(神经元). They are all connected and send messages to each other. Scientists have found that when we learn, neurons make new connections and old connections grow stronger. But if connections aren't used, they will break down. So, learning is like exercise for your brain. The more you work it out, the stronger and smarter your network of neurons will become.
According to Dr Carol Dweck's studies, people with a fixed mindset worry about grades. They're afraid of looking stupid when they make mistakes. People with a growth mindset care about learning not grades. They learn from their mistakes and try to find different ways of solving problems. They ask for help when necessary. In only two years, babies learn to walk, talk and feed themselves. They never worry about looking stupid when learning. If they make mistakes, they just try again.
Dweck's team also discovered that, with some work, kids can choose to have a growth mindset. They can do better in school. The trick is to notice what mindset you have. If you ever think yourself stupid, it's not true. You just have not learned how to do something yet.

D、The connections among them will never break down.(2)、What might a man with a growth mindset agree about?A、You will look foolish whenI make mistakes in study. What time is it? The answer you give can be different, because you are in different Earth's time zones(时区). But how could you tell the time if you aren't anywhere on Earth?
Scientists are now thinking of creating a lunar(月球的) time zone. They believe it would be better for astronauts to communicate by using Moon Time, as they travel to, from, and across the Moon. At the moment, astronauts are using time zones of their own countries. But there could be safety problems caused by the differences in time-telling.
▲ Gravity(引力) influences how quickly or slowly time passes. Since gravity is weaker on the Moon, clocks run a bit faster there. After 24 hours, a lunar clock would be 56 microseconds ahead of a clock on Earth. Another point to consider is that a full day on Earth is about 24 hours between two sunsets. While on the Moon, it is nearly 709 hours, about 29.5 Earth days. This means that lunar nights can be around two weeks long, with only the Earth and the stars in the sky. With all this to think about, scientists need to decide whether it would be better to follow a time zone on Earth, or for the Moon to have its own special zone, which would have much longer days.
Scientists must consider other problems too. For example, who should be responsible for keeping the time zone going? And how can it be made practical for astronauts to use?
There are more countries planning Moon trips in the future. The idea of creating a time zone on the Moon would make these easier. And if a lunar time zone is set up, scientists could create time zones for other planets like Mars.
(1)、Scientists think that a lunar time zone can ____.A、keep the Moon clean B、keep astronauts healthy C、make the Moon trips safer D、make space travel faster(2)、Which of the following can be put in the blank____ in Paragraph 3?A、Setting up a lunar time zone is not easy.
