Last Friday was our school's Sports Day. The weather was great. The playground was decorated (装饰) with flags and balloons. Everyone was happy!

There were many events during the day. The 100-meter race was 1 to watch—those runners were so fast! I took part in the relay race. It was a pity that our team didn't 2 , but it was exciting to pass the baton (接力棒) and cheer for each other.

China is trying to help people control their weight and live healthier lives. The government has started a three-year "Weight Management (管理) Year" plan from 2024 to 2027 to fight against obesity (肥胖症). Here's what you should know about the new guidelines:​

For exercise, try to do 150－300 minutes of activities like walking, cycling, or dancing every week, and do strength exercises twice a week. If you sit for a long time while studying, stand up and stretch (拉伸) for 3－5 minutes every hour.​

Besides diet and exercise, small daily habits can also make a big difference. Try to eat vegetables first, then meat, and finally rice or bread during a meal to control how much you eat. Students aged from 13－19 should sleep 7 hours every night because enough sleep plays an important role in keeping a healthy weight.​

Schools and communities (社区) are also helping. For example, schools in Shanghai now make sure students exercise for at least two hours every day, and hospitals have "weight clinics" with diet plans, exercise advice, and even traditional Chinese ways like acupuncture (针灸). 

Remember, losing weight isn't about being perfect—just start with small changes, like drinking water instead of soda or taking the stairs instead of the elevator (电梯). With these easy steps, everyone can have a healthier future.​

During the winter vacation, what is the most popular? That must be DeepSeek, an AI tool (人工智能工具) from China. It makes a stunning debut (惊艳亮相) across the world. It was so popular that even many big companies (公司) want to work with its company. The company is also called DeepSeek. Besides the famous AI tools, it has created some amazing learning tools with the help of AI. 

For example, these learning tools carefully look at how students study. They find out if a student likes reading aloud or silently, which subjects are easy and which ones are difficult. After that, they make special study plans for each student. If a student is bad at math, the plan will have more math practice. 

Another great thing about DeepSeek is the fast feedback (反馈). When students finish their homework or tests, it quickly shows what's wrong and gives easy-to-understand advice to make it right. This____helps students learn from their mistakes right away. 

Teachers also love DeepSeek. They can see how well students are doing at any time. They make clear reports, so teachers don't have to spend hours checking. This gives them more time to prepare fun lessons and help students who need it.

In a park in Tianjin, there were two middle school students performing the traditional Chinese folk (民间的) art—kuaiban. Their wonderful show made people stop to watch with great interest. The students were from the folk art club of a middle school in Tianjin. The folk art club has many other projects (项目), such as paper cutting and Chinese clay art. "Through these projects, not only can students learn how to make some objects of beauty, but also improve their abilities to put ideas into practice. More importantly, it can give students a chance to show these important parts of Chinese folk art," said the head of the club.

Jin Shimin set up his kuaiban project. "Kuaiban is a Chinese cultural heritage (传统), and I hope more people could fall in love with it," Jin said. 

Jin and his team have thought of many ways to promote (推广) this folk art. "We invited Duan Xiaofeng and Zhu Wangchang, two young inheritors of Wangpai kuaiban, to perform inside and outside the school," said Jin. "We also invited Wei Wenliang for help. He will come to our school and give a talk." The team has also shared kuaiban videos online. "We worked together to let more people know about the traditional Chinese folk art," said team member Wang Chongfeng.

Is a crow(乌鸦) smarter than a seven-year-old kid?

When we think of intelligent animals, we usually think of dogs, cats, and apes(猿). But do you know that crows are among (smart) animals in the world? Crows have memories and they are able to imagine the future. This  (help) them solve problems like an ape. They even use tools sometimes. A crow can hold a tiny bar(棒) in (it) mouth and use it to get at tasty insects. 

It's normal (think) that a crow in a tree hardly pays any attention you. You might be wrong, though. Crows can remember human (face). Some scientists believe that they can even tell other crows whether human is friendly or not. 

Since twenty years ago, some scientists (study) how intelligent crows are compared to humans. They found that crows were able to solve a difficult problem just as (good) as a 7-year-old human. In another test, a crow solved an eight-stage puzzle within three minutes. 

Therefore,  anyone ever calls you a"bird brain", be sure to thank him or her for the praise. 

The last Eurasian lynx(猞猁) in the British Isles lived a life of danger as it moved quickly to avoid campfires and vicious dogs, and hid in holes. Because of disappearing woodlands, being short of animals for food, and hunting, lynx started to disappear from these islands about 1, 500 years ago. But experts hope to one day bring the Eurasian lynx back to Scotland. Wildlife conservationists (环保主义者) in Switzerland, Germany, France, and other countries have taken Eurasian lynx from elsewhere in their areas and introduced them again to protected forests, allowing their populations to grow. Now they're hoping to do the same thing in Scotland. Returning the cats would do more than just improve the numbers of this once-endangered animal. A win for the lynx is a win for the forest-and the planet. 

When the Eurasian lynx disappeared, so did the Scottish landscape. Without these cats and other animals hunting them, deer populations increased a lot. Those animals lived on the leaves of trees and bushes for food, and soon large areas of the Scottish forest disappeared since it couldn't grow fast enough to keep up with the deer's wish for food. Birds and rodents(啮齿动物) that depended on shelter (庇护所) in the lower level of forest plants became food for foxes, which lynx also hunt. 

Experts trying to restore the forests have to put up fences to keep deer from eating leaves of young trees. But with lynx hanging out in the woods, experts think these cats would keep the deer from harming the young trees, helping the forests make a comeback. 

And that would have even bigger influences. The Earth is losing woodlands as people cut down trees to make room for farming, and to sell the wood for products like furniture and toilet paper. In 2020 alone, the Earth lost as many trees as would cover an area larger than Michigan. 

So restoring forests in places like Scotland can help provide more space for wildlife and even fight climate change. That's because trees take in carbon dioxide, which takes in the sun's heat and warms our planet. 

"BANG!" the door was shut loudly. I was just standing there, with my father standing on one side, and I on the other side. We were both in great anger. "Never set foot in this house again!" my father said angrily. With tears in my eyes, I rushed out and ra n along the street. The street lights were shining, I felt sad and walked aimlessly(漫无目的地).
