Jobs and Their Meaning

Many people see jobs only as a way to make money.  They can also help others, make us feel proud, and let us grow as people. Here are some ideas to think about.

First, think about what you enjoy doing.  For example, if you love drawing, you might want to be a designer. If you like talking with people, you could be a teacher or a guide.

Second, think about how you can help others. Nurses look after sick people. Cleaners make our cities tidy. Teachers help children learn and grow. Every job can help people in some way.

Third, remember that no job is small. When you do your job well, you are making the world better. Even simple jobs can bring a strong sense of achievement.

Finally, keep learning and improving.  If you keep trying your best, you will become better and happier in your job.

Many people think the best jobs are those that pay well or work in modern offices. But some of the most important jobs in our life are not famous or highly paid. These people keep our life normal and safe, though we seldom think about their hard work.

Street cleaners get up very early every morning, even on cold winter days. They clean the roads, collect rubbish and keep our cities tidy. Without them, our environment would be dirty and terrible. They work quietly and ask for little in return.

Another important job is a cook. Cooks prepare healthy and delicious food for us every day. They spend long hours in hot kitchens. Good cooks understand what people need and try their best to make meals enjoyable. Eating nice food makes people feel warm and happy.

Teachers are also important. They not only teach knowledge but also care about students' growth. Good teachers listen to students patiently and encourage them to be better. They help teenagers build their dreams and become useful people in the future.

These jobs may not seem exciting, but they are necessary. Every job has its value. The world needs different kinds of hard-working people. We should learn to respect every job and every person who works hard.

Nowadays, many young people hope to have jobs that are both interesting and meaningful. They do not want to do the same work without any creativity. More teenagers are starting to think about jobs connected with art, technology and helping others.

Wendy has loved drawing since she was a little girl. She spends a lot of time practising and creating her own pictures. Her dream is to be a cartoon designer. She wants to make wonderful cartoons for children. She believes cartoons can help kids learn good values and enjoy their childhood. To make her dream come true, she takes art lessons and learns computer skills.

No matter what job you choose, you must work hard and keep learning. The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.

Everyone gets ill sometimes. When you are ill, you will feel uncomfortable and you can't study or work well. So it's important to know how to look after yourself when you are ill.

First, you should go to see a doctor. The doctor will check you and tell you what's wrong with you. Then, you should follow the doctor's advice. For example, if you have a cold, the doctor may tell you to take some medicine, drink more hot water and have a good rest. You shouldn't go out and play, because it will make you worse.

Third, you should have enough sleep. Sleep can help your body recover quickly. You shouldn't stay up late. You should go to bed early and get up early.

Finally, you should keep a happy mood. A happy mood is good for your recovery. You can listen to some light music or talk with your family and friends.

When I was young, I dreamed of becoming a flight attendant (空乘人员). However, as I grew older, I started a 1 . And I chose to leave that dream in order to 2 my kids.

Never be afraid of difficulties

Parents are the closest people to you in the world. They love you just because you are you. And they would do anything for you. 

Like a lot of middle school students, Zhang Shuxia has a problem. She and her parents don't get on well. "I really want to be my daddy's little girl, but it feels like he doesn't understand. He talks to me but doesn't listen to me," said Zhang, a junior 3 student in Shijiazhuang, Hebei. 

Do you and your parents also have problems? 

Well, why don't you all take a walk or have a talk? It's the International Day of Families on 15th May. People around the world give thanks for good things about their families and work on family problems. 

A study last year showed that 1,500 Beijing families had the same problem as Zhang's family. The children,12 to 15 years old, didn't like talking with their parents much. They weren't happy at home. 

But you and your parents will be much happier if you can be friends. Here are some ways to have a good talk with them: 

Simon didn't get on well with his parents in the past. He hardly talked to them because they always  him with his sister. Simon thought that it was very , and he often fought with his parents about this.

After a few weeks, the result came out. Simon was very happy and excited because he got  prize. When he took the prize home, his parents were . They thought it was almost impossible for their son to do such a good job. They were very happy and started to care about Simon. Now relations between Simon and his parents are much  than before.
