Gold and brown leaves crunched(嘎吱嘎吱地响) under Dora's feet as she made her way down the road. She could not wait to be home. The cold from the autumn winds was bad, but it was not nearly as hard to stand as the cold she felt in her heart. 

Today was Dora's turn to speak for five minutes in front of the class. Her legs trembled(颤抖) all the way and her hands shook so badly that she could not read her notes, Mr Roberts ended part of her speech. After class, Mr Roberts encouraged her to find the courage and asked her to have a try the next day. 

When Dora arrived home, Mum studied her face and asked her what was wrong patiently. She told Mum the whole story, with tears sparkling in her brown eyes. 

Then Mum took Dora to her bedroom and showed her a gold medal that said" First Place", Mum shared her experience with Dora. Once, Mum was shy and was not sure of herself at all. But she faced up to her fears and ended the year as the winner in a speech competition. ____ It was the second time that someone had told Dora about it that day. Suddenly, warmth swept over her when she was listening to Mum's supporting words. Now, she knew what she should do the next day. 

The next day Dora again walked to the front of the classroom. Facing the class, she could feel nervous once more. She touched Mum's gold medal in her pocket, believing that it would bring her good luck. As soon as she finished her speech, the students started cheering. On that day, Dora found her courage. 

Laughing with a friend is the best, but sometimes it's crying that brings you closer together. True friends are a (宝藏) to all. You should (信任) them. You should share your true (感受)— You may learn that your friends feel the same way. As a result, friends will (理解)each other better. My best friend Nelly is a quiet girl. She works hard but has many problems in subjects. Last week, she said she tried her best and expected to (通过) the exam, but she failed. She thought it (看来) that everyone was laughing at her. She began to doubt (她自己). She cried alone in the playground. I found her and sat beside her as a (有耐心的)listener. I didn't want her to feel she was (孤独的). I knew I must do something to help her. Then I drew a card with some words:" Believe in yourself. At least, I am always there for you. " Day by day, she finally became confident again. You could see (明亮的) smiles on her face.

 If you don't want to stay with your friends when they' re in hard times, you don't deserve(值得) to be with them when they' re having a good time!

Make plans with them.

Try to make plans with your friends. Go shopping, go to a movie and so on. Take time to know each other even better by doing something you enjoy.  And you'll still keep these things in mind when you' re old!

My interest in body language began with a teacher at university. He mentioned "Pinocchio(匹诺曹)" to me after saying that I always rubbed my nose when giving excuses for being late to his classes, In fact, when someone tells a lie, the person's blood rushes to the nose and the blood makes it itchy(发痒的). This little example of non-verbal(非语言的) communication encouraged me to become a body language expert. Now, I make a living by training people in non-verbal communication. 

My study shows the human body gives more believable information than the words we speak. The words say one thing but the body may say something different. It is known that crossed arms show you are unfriendly or angry, but what about facial expressions, postures(姿势) and gestures? All of these say a lot and can only be understood if you know how to understand the signs. 

Office workers always need my services and I try to make them more confident by teaching them about body language. I give advice on handshakes and I teach them the importance of personal space. They seem like small things, but can be of great help. 

I like my work and feel that I'm providing a public service. However, whenever I meet someone new and I tell them about my job, they're no longer relaxed at once. They don't even move in case (以防) I see through them. It makes my work more difficult at times, but it doesn't matter. That's challenging as well as interesting. 

My friend, Connie, is two years older than me. We spend much time together. Connie (have)long dark brown hair and her eyes (be)big and round. People say she is beautiful and (look) like a doll. When we go out. people often think she is younger  she is shorter and slimmer.
