From Tenez!to tennis

Tennis first appeared in England and France in the 16th century(世纪). It was called royal tennis and only kings and queens played it. It was

Modern tennis appeared  the 1860s. It was first called" Lawn(草坪) Tennis" and players only played on grass. The

Most Chinese students do their homework or have lessons on weekends. But western kids do all kinds of housework. 

Mowing(割草)the yard is a great way to make money. Any boy or girl can do this. He or she can get money by doing it. This teaches them that money cannot be made without hard work. 

They can do the dishes. This can be a daily thing for a kid to do. It makes them understand doing this is their duty, and it teaches them to keep the house clean. 

They can take out the trash(垃圾). There is the kitchen trash and the bathroom trash that are outside. Make sure that they understand that the trash needs to be out every morning before the trash truck arrives. 

To make money, they can babysit(照看婴儿). Each parent likes to get away from the house from time to time. If they do this once per week for a few hours, they can make some money if they do well. 

The Shangsi Festival comes on the third day of the third lunar (农历) month. It is  ancient Chinese festival. The day is said to be the birthday of the Yellow Emperor (Huangdi), people often take a bath in the river on that day to keep away from bad luck  (easy).

So far, the tradition of the festival  (change). In the Jin Dynasty (朝代), people took a bath while drinking from cups going along the river. In the Ming and Qing dynasties, people did  (activity) like hiking and listening to music.

In modern times, during the festival, the Han people would go outside  (enjoy) flowers. It is a festival for the young Zhuang people to sing songs  then find their true love. Bamboo dancing is another choice for  (they). For the Li and Miao people in Hainan, it is a day for  (remember) ancestors (祖先).

Special food is also important to the festival. Five-colored rice and painted eggs are (tradition) food for the Shangsi Festival. The Zhuang people believe the rice is good for health and the painted eggs are the symbol  love.

Beijing is working hard to fix up old parts of the city. People there are also using new and creative ideas to make the city keep up with the time. In the last few years,Beijing has made many changes to the area around the Liangma River. People have fixed the river banks,planted more trees and flowers,added lights and cleaned water. They want to make the area nicer and better for the environment. As a result,they built an 800,000-square-meter riverside park next to the Liangma River. It helps turn the Liangma River into a "people-friendly river", being a nice place to visit for people in Beijing.

Citywalk is becoming more and more welcome,and more and more people are walking on the streets to experience the beauty of the cities. We can do this now because many people are working silently to keep our cities clean,safe and lively.
