I became crazy about Beijing Opera when I was a little boy. It's hard to explain why I love it. I even dreamed of becoming a professional performer. I've learned a lot about Beijing Opera since I joined the school Chinese Culture Club. Let me introduce something about it to you. 

Beijing Opera is one of the Chinese traditional drama art forms and the largest Chinese opera form. Having a history of about 200 years, it is developed from many other drama forms, mostly from the local drama "Huiban". It was especially popular in south China during the 18th century. 

Theatrical (戏剧的) art forms in many other countries do not have singing, dancing and spoken parts together in one single drama. An opera singer, for example, neither dances nor speaks on stage; there are no singing or dancing parts in a modern play; in a dance drama, the dancer doesn't speak or sing. However, Beijing Opera includes spoken parts, singing and dancing. 

Beijing Opera has spread to many other places. Mei Lanfang, one of the most famous performers of all, was the first to introduce Beijing Opera to foreigners and made highly successful tours to foreign countries. 

As one of Chinese national treasures, Beijing Opera is full of Chinese cultural traditions and it is loved by Chinese people of all ages. Welcome to China and enjoy Beijing Opera. 

A trilogy (三部曲) of movies brings one of China's best known and most popular mythological (神话的) stories to life, Xu Fan reports. 

Over the past ten years, director Wuershan has spent most of his time training his actors and filming the Creation of the Gods trilogy. Explaining his interest in shooting the trilogy, the director said, "Since I was young, I have been crazy about Chinese history, mythology and traditional art. I have found that there are certain elements of aesthetics (美学元素) that remain the same throughout the development of a nation. " 

To better visualize the fantastic world described in the mythological tales, Wuershan visited New Zealand to meet with director Peter Jackson, and learned to form pictures in his mind. 

"Jackson said he felt tired most days. We learned from his experience and drew up the timetable more scientifically, and it helped me avoid feeling too tired，" said Wuershan during an interview. 

Preparations for the trilogy began in 2014 with a huge budget (预算). It took nearly 5 years to write the screenplays(剧本)of the three movies, and they were filmed for nearly 350 days. The group was made up of about 8，000 members, including Fei Xiang, Huang Bo, Li Xuejian and Yuan Quan. 

As the tales also feature a group of young princes, the director chose almost 30 young actors from 15，000 people. Most of them had not performed in a movie before, so they were trained in acting and some skills. 

Until now, the filming of the trilogy has ended, and the two sequels (续集) are in post­production. Now, people can give their opinions about the director's work. The first film, Creation of the Gods I：Kingdom of Storms,has been drawing Chinese movie lovers to cinemas since its release on July 20. 

Every Saturday, Wang Fokun travels 40 minutes to "watch" a movie with his friends. He became blind in his early 50s. However, he can still enjoy movies in a "talking movie" club—Xin Deng Theatre. The club is in Kunming, Yunnan. A group of volunteers there describe movies to blind people. 

"I listened to a movie for the first time in the summer of 2019, and it was amazing. The volunteers did a great job，" said Wang. 

Describing movies to blind people can be challenging. The volunteers must watch a movie three or four times to know everything in the movie. This way, they can describe the movie very clearly. 

Zhou Quan started the club in 2017. "Movies are for everybody，" said Zhou. "Xin Deng Theatre hopes to share more movies with blind people and help to light up their lives. " Thanks to the special club, many blind people go out of their homes and their lives are more interesting. 

Now many blind people come to Xin Deng Theatre to "watch" movies every week. "They can enjoy the movies here. I'm so glad that I bring enjoyment to them，" said Zhou. 

"It's meaningful for us to spend our free time volunteering，" said one volunteer.

Mike：But my mother gave me the coins to save me when I'm in need. 

Judge：(To Mike) Drop the coins onto the table, one at a time. (Mike drops the coins. ) Case dismissed (被驳回). 

Peter：What do you mean? I didn't get paid!

Judge：You want the SMELLS paid. Mike has just paid you in SOUNDS—the sounds of the coins. 

Last week, my parents and I went to see a movie in a new theater. I think it is the best theater in my city. Because it has the biggest screens and the most comfortable (seat). We watched a popular Indian movie named Dangal.  (lucky), there were not many people in it, so we (buy) our tickets quickly. 

The movie comes from true story. The father Mahavir Phogat is a wrestler (摔跤手). He finds his two girls are (talent) in wrestling and wants them to wrestle for the gold medal. So he takes everything (serious). He asks them to get up 5：00 a. m. every day. He asks them to eat special meals to become stronger, and he even asks his girls to wear boys' clothes and cut their hair. Both the two girls think of him as the (bad) father at first. But later they understand their father's love. 

At the end of the film, the elder sister becomes the (win) of the international competition.  (they) dream comes true. Everybody in their country (be) very excited. 

After (watch) the film, I was deeply moved. I (true) understand my parents better than before.  they are pretty strict (严格) with me, they really care about me. Also, as students, it's important for us (keep) trying to get a bright future. 

Peking Opera (京剧) used to sound strange to Dou Yi. The 14­year­old Beijinger said whenever she found Peking Opera on TV, she watched another programme. Like most of today's1 ， Dou loves pop music. 

But since she2 the Xuanwu Branch School of Beijing No. 15 Middle School, she has been studying Peking Opera in music class every week. 

Dou and her classmates listen to Peking Opera and3 about the basics from experienced actors. They also sing along with the operas. 

"At first, we felt it really4 to learn some musical notes, and we often laughed，5 later I found it was not difficult to learn Peking Opera and I understood a little about it，" said Dou. 

Since 2008，6 around our country have been teaching students Peking Opera. It's part of a plan to introduce young people to our country's traditional culture. 7 ， Dou's school has been taking the job seriously. 

"I have learned a lot of history from the operas，" she said. "I've also 8 many ancient poems, since there are so many of them in the operas. "

"When you learn more about it, you'll9 it more. If people do study it, this10 art form won't disappear. It would be a great pity if it did！" she said.
