The Internet has led to a huge increase in credit card fraud. Your card information could even be for sale on an illegal website (非法网站).
Websites offering cheap goods and services should be regarded with care.
Online shoppers who enter their credit card information may never receive the goods they thought they bought. The thieves then go shopping with your card number—or sell the information over the Internet. Computer hackers may break down security systems, raising questions about the safety of cardholders' information. Several months ago, 25,000 customers of CD Universe, an online music retailer (零售商), were not lucky. Their names, addresses and credit card numbers were posted on a website after the retailer refused to pay $157,828 to get back the information.
Credit card firms (公司) are now fighting against online fraud. MasterCard is working on plans for the Webonly credit card, with a lower credit limit. The card could be used only for shopping online. However, there are a few simple steps you can take to keep yourself from being cheated.
Ask about your credit card firm's online rules: Under British law, cardholders have to pay the first $78 of any fraudulent (欺诈的) spending.
Shop only at secure sites: Send your credit card information only if the website offers an advanced security system. If the security is in place, a letter will appear in the bottom righthand corner of your screen. The website address may also start with "https://"—the extra "s" stands for "secure". If in doubt, give your credit card information over the telephone.
Keep your password safe: Most online sites require a user name and a password before you place an order. Treat your password with care.

18、 第二节 阅读表达;阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。
Sally woke suddenly. She heard strange sounds; she could smell smoke. The room was full of smoke. She coughed. What was happening? Her bedroom door opened with a bang and her mother ran in, her face white.
"Get up, Sally. We have to go! Get dressed now!" her mother shouted.
Sally jumped from her bed and opened the window. Cries came from the streets below. Sally watched people throw their things into carts (马车).
"Hey, what's happening?" Sally shouted.
"Fire!" her neighbour shouted back.
"Coming from Pudding Lane! Get out now, Sally! No one is safe!"
Sally pulled her window shut and got changed as quickly as she could. Downstairs (在楼下), she found her father, mother and sister putting their things into a cart. They watched people trying to put out the big fire with buckets (桶) full of water. It didn't seem to make any difference, as the fire jumped from one building to the next.
"The houses are so close and made of wood!" Sally noticed.
The boy, Tom Winter, saw Sally and said, "Some people are going to St. Paul's Cathedral to stay safe. Made of stone. Won't burn like wood. " Sally nodded, but followed her parents down the dark street.
They walked and walked. Finally, they arrived at Moorfields. It was a wideopen space with no buildings to burn. They were safe.

If you see someone fall down suddenly, perhaps as a result of a heart attack, what can you do while you are waiting for professional (专业的) help?
Chen Wenqiaochu set a good example when he was fourteen. He performed CPR (心肺复苏术) on a staff person at his school, saving the man's life in 2013. According to medical experts, there is a "golden period"—the first four minutes of a heart attack. During this time, CPR is the best for saving the person's life.
In August, 2020, all public schools nationwide were asked to provide CPR courses in China, as part of health education. CPR is not hard to grasp. All that one needs to know is how to watch and decide if a person has a heart attack, where to press on the patient's chest (胸), and how to blow air through the mouth and into the lungs (肺).
Unluckily, less than one percent of Chinese adults have mastered the skill of CPR, while many have never heard of it. A 2019 survey from China Youth Daily showed that although 64. 6% of schools opened health education courses, the teaching results were not satisfactory (令人满意的).
Zhao Shengyu, a graduate from a high school, remembered her first time to be taught CPR in the class. "No model, video or practice was included. I realized that the acts I had been taught had lots of mistakes after I was trained another time in a medical school," she said. According to her own experience, Zhao said more professional CPR courses in schools were necessary.
Most countries have attached importance to CPR training. It was shown in a survey in 2017 that more than half of Americans had received CPR training. Switzerland, Germany, France and some other countries have also provided CPR training.
(1)、What is the "golden period" according to the passage?A、The first four minutes after CPR. B、The first four minutes before CPR. C、The first four minutes of a heart attack. D、The first four minutes before a heart attack.(2)、What does the underlined word "grasp" in the passage probably mean?A、Spread widely. B、Understand completely. C、Repeat carefully. D、Think differently.(3)、Why was more professional CPR training necessary according to Zhao Shengyu?A、Because most students had never heard of CPR. B、Because lots of countries provided CPR training. C、Because her first CPR training had lots of mistakes. D、Because experts advised students to master the skill of CPR.(4)、Which is the right time order of the following facts?① Chen Wenqiaochu saved a staff person at his school.
②All public schools were asked to provide CPR courses in China.
③It was reported that 64. 6% of schools opened health education courses.
④A survey showed that more than half of Americans had received CPR training.

What should you do before, during and after the earthquake?
Before
*Plan with your family.
Make sure everyone knows what to do during an earthquake. Talk about where to go and what to do to stay safe if one happens. Knowing what to do will help reduce fear and panic (恐慌).
*Find "safe places".
Pick "safe places" in each room of your home and your school. A safe place could be under a piece of furniture (家具), such as a strong table or desk. Or stay against a wall away from windows, bookcases, or tall furniture that could fall on you. The closer you are to your safe place, the better.
During
*Indoors
Stay away from windows and lights.
*Outdoors
If you are in a car, stop in a safe place and stay inside the car until the earthquake stops.
If you are in a crowded place, protect your head with your arms.
After
*Turn off water, electricity and gas (天然气).
*Use the stairs instead of lifts.
*Put out any fire. Use flashlights (手电筒), not fire.
*If you are in trouble, cover your mouth and nose. Don't shout. Hit things with an object to show your position.
*Don't use the phone unless it's very necessary.
