Studying is not always the most interesting task within your day, but it is a necessary one. Even though it is required, everyone has got bored at one time or another while studying. Although this is a common problem, here are some tips for you to keep boredom away while you are studying.

Find a suitable place to study

Make sure you are in a place that is quiet. Noise will actually cause you to become more bored because you are reminded of the things you could do instead of studying.

Make a time plan

Plan first. List what you need to get completed and how long you need to complete it. If you know when you can go back to play sports or talk to your friends, you will be more likely to fix your attention on studies.

Change your subjects

Change the subjects that you are studying. Change what you study every half an hour to an hour or so to avoid boredom. For example, study history for 45 minutes, maths for 45 minutes, and English for 45 minutes. Make sure you don't spend all your time on one subject.

Take notes as you go

Do you like watching the lion dance? It's a Chinese art form. The lion dance is one of the most popular folk dances in China. In the Chinese tradition, a lion is  as a mascot (吉祥物) and it can bring good luck. 

In the lion dance, two people can act as a lion, one waving (挥舞) the lion head and the other waving the lion body and tail. Or we can hold a silk ball to  with the lion. After more than two thousand years of  ，  there are many kinds of lion dances. When it is the Lantern Festival or other  ，  people often organize the lion dance because it is believed to bring good luck and happiness. 

In the 1990s, lion dance competitions . In 2021, a girls' lion dance team from a lion dance troupe (剧团) won  place in a competition. In the beginning, the troupe only accepted boys. Until 2018, six  girls were taken in. Now there  20 girls in it. Among them, the oldest girl is eighteen, and the  one is only six years old. The training is hard. The trainer doesn't set easier training goals (目标) just because they are girls. They know what they want to do and hope to do it well. 

As winter comes, hands can easily get cold. Thick gloves might be a good choice, but sometimes wearing them is inconvenient. However, this was not a problem for ancient Chinese people, who had a fine tool to warm their hands: hand warmers. 

There is one folk story about the invention. Emperor Yang from the Sui Dynasty visited Jiangsu in winter. Because of the cold weather, a local official asked craftsmen (工匠人) to make a small warmer for the emperor that could be held in his hands. So, the hand warmer was created. 

By the Song Dynasty, the warmers had become popular among the common people. Skills for producing the tool were widely used in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Many poets from this period kept a record of people using hand warmers. 

In the early days, copper (铜) was generally used in the production process. It was more suitable than silver, iron and porcelain because it could transfer (传导) heat better, while reducing the risk of breakage or corrosion (腐蚀). Inside a hand warmer, there were coals, some of which were mixed with flowers, giving off a nice smell when burned. 

Ancient hand warmers had different designs. Round, square and octagonal shapes were typical, and there were also some fashioned shapes which looked like pumpkins, flowers and turtle shells. The patterns of the warmers would usually be animals or symbols with good meanings, such as deer, flowers or the Chinese characters for long life. 

Xunpu is a small fishing village in Fujian Province. Last year, a few ladies took pictures there and shared them online. In the photos, their hair was tied into buns (圆发髻) and they wore a wreath (花冠). There were fresh, plastic and silk flowers on the wreath. It is called Zanhuawei. The photos were widely spread online. Many tourists started to come to the village. In less than six months, the number of zanhua stores there grew from less than 10 to more than 150. 

The tradition of wearing flowers has been a part of the local life since the Tang Dynasty. The village is famous for its good seafood. When female villagers sell their seafood at the local market, they put flowers in their hair. This way, buyers can distinguish (识别) them from sellers in nearby villages. 

The tradition is also seen at happy events such as weddings. The locals send out invitation cards along with flowers. In turn, their female guests wear the flowers to the events.
