TIME Magazine, one of the world's most famous weekly news magazines, has a 100-year-old tradition. It picks people who change world events as its Person of the Year. For 2025, the title goes to a group: "the Architects (缔造者) Of AI".

This fact makes people argue more about TIME's choice. Some people say the magazine forgot the engineers who work on the ground. But experts say the award is about influence, not about saying these people are "good' in every way.

TIME's top editor Sam Jacobs said 2025 was the year when Al showed all its possible power--and there's no going back. AI has become a force that changes everything. It is reshaping many industries, like entertainment. For example, Disney is working with Open AI.

This choice tells us that Al is becoming a part of our normal life, and this change can't be stopped. From office tools to daily services, Al will play a bigger and bigger role. It will bring new chances to the world, but it will also bring new duties for our future.

The 33rd APFC, Economic Leaders' Meeting (also known as the 2026 Shenzhen APEC Summit) will be held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China, from November 18 to 19, 2026. The APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting is the highest-level meeting of APEC. The first meeting was held in Seattle, USA, in November 1993. Since then, it is usually held once a year between September and November, rotating among member economies. 

In November 2024, through discussions and agreement among APEC member economies, China successfully won the bid to host the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in 2026. This will be the third time for China to host the meeting, after 2001 and 2014. In October 2025, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and South Korean President Lee Jae-myung expressed their support for China hosting the meeting. On October 31, 2025, at the APEC CEO Summit handover ceremony in Gyeongju, South Korea, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade took over the hosting of the 2026 APEC CEO Summit. Shenzhen was chosen as the host city because it is a pilot zone for China's reform and opening-up and an important platform for its win-win opening-up strategy. From December 11 to 12, 2025, the 2026 APEC Informal Senior Officials' Meeting was held in Shenzhen. This was the first event hosted by China as the host economy. China plans to showcase the achievements of its open economy during the meeting and deepen regional cooperation in the Asia-Pacific.

On December 12, 2025, at the 2026 APEC Informal Senior Officials' Meeting in Shenzhen, China proposed "Building an Asia-Pacific Community for Shared Prosperity" as the theme for the APEC "China Year."  It also identified "openness, innovation, and cooperation" as the three priority areas for the APEC "China Year."

Hainan, China's southernmost island known for its sunny beaches, will start a new stage called "island-wide independent customs operation"" on December 18, 2025. Though the name sounds formal, it does not mean being cut off from others. Instead, Hainan will turn into a special customs area with more open rules. It will act as an important bridge linking China with the world market.

The key of this change is based on three rules:

●and make things free inside the island..

"Opening the first line" means goods from other countries can enter Hainan very easily. Under the new policy, more than 6,600 kinds of imported products (74% of all goods) will be tax-free when sold and used on the island.

"Controlling the second line" makes sure that only some goods moving from Hainan to the mainland need customs checks. People can still travel freely as before. As for "making things free inside the island," goods can move and be stored in Hainan without time limits.

This change will bring real benefits. For Hainan locals, imported daily things will become cheaper. For tourists, the yearly 10,000-yuan shopping limit stays the same. And more kinds of goods will be added, like petfood and musical tools. Foreign visitors will also enter more easily.

For businesses, setting up in Hainan will cost less. This is because of good policies, such as a lower 15%company income tax for qualified firms.

Hainan's growth as a special zone is an important part of China's plan to open up more to the world. Sitingbetween China and Southeast Asia, Hainan is ready to become a key center for trade and tourism. This move will not only create new jobs and better services on the island but also shows China's wish to work closely with the global community.

On December 5, 2025, French President Emmanuel Macron1 his China tour with a visit to Sichuan University (SCU). Breaking protocol, he arrived without a tie and jogged to 2 waiting students. This casual gesture made the students feel closer to the French leader.

Each of us has dreams and goals for our future. What makes us study and make progress each day is closely connected with our personal dreams and goals.

But why do you have dreams and goals, and you still end up with nothing? What separates successful people from the dreamers is their persistent (锲而不舍的) action. When you learn your lessons in school, you must work hard and not give up. You will often find some of your lessons very hard. Try and keep trying, and you'll be sure to successfully deal with any difficulty you meet with. If we have a hard lesson today, let us try our best to learn it well, and then we shall be prepared for a harder one tomorrow.

For me, action is the most important thing for success, and that's to Take Persistent Action (Act). If you say,"I can't do it" and give up, you can never do anything valuable. However,"I'll try" creates wonders. Let's remember that there will be obstacles in our lives. We must face them bravely and solve them. Success is not something that falls down from the sky. Most successful people made their dreams come true because of their persistent action.

Please remember: Action is the bridge that connects our dreams and goals to reality.
