Yesterday I read a wonderful book called The Magic Paintbrush (《神奇画笔》). A famous children's writer wrote it, and I enjoyed it very much.

The story is about a kind boy named Tim. One day, he finds a magic paintbrush. Everything he draws with it becomes real (变成真的)! He draws food for hungry people and clothes for poor children. His magic paintbrush helps many people. However, a bad man wants the paintbrush, too. Tim has toprotect it.

I like this book very much because the story is fun and full of adventures. It teaches us to be kind and helpful. Tim is a good example because he always thinks about others. The book also has colorful pictures and they make the story more interesting.

I think that this is a great book for students in Grade 7. It is not too long and the words in the book are easy to understand. It helps us learn good ways to do things.

I give The Magic Paintbrush five stars! If you are looking for a fun and meaningful book to read, you should really try this one. After finishing the book, I think this book not only tells a story but also makes its readers think. Our house was noisier since my stepsister and stepmother moved in — Jen and Mum. I called her Mum, but the word felt1 — I still missed my own mother, who passed away long ago. So much had changed.

"Would you take Jen skating?" Dad gently pushed her forward.

"I guess." I sighed, remembering2 my dad taught me to build a snowman on Thanksgiving—step by step, with so much care.

"Thanks. We'll make that snowman later," he3.

"Here!" Mum offered some cookies as we took our skates. "No, thanks," I turned without looking at her. I still couldn't help feeling it was4 who changed everything.

Out in the street, it was freezing. Jen and I just walked5. It was so quiet that I had to say something, "Did you often go skating?"

Jen6 her head. "Not really. Mum and I always visited lovely turkeys on a farm."

"No turkey farms here," I replied. "Too cold."

    Jen sighed, looking at me7.

Until then I realised that I never cared how8 Jen was. She not only had a new stepbrother and a stepfather, but a new town and home. She had more9 than me.

Suddenly, I didn't feel sorry for myself10 I got something more important to do—thinking of some way to help Jen.

Soon Jen and I were back in our yard, playing with snow. We made a small snowball and topped it11 a bigger one as the head and the body of a snow turkey.

Then Jen built a fan behind it, making a perfect tail.

Our parents came out. Jen ran to them, laughing, "Can you tell what it is?"

"Certainly," smiled Mum. "It's the biggest snow turkey I've seen."

Mum came up. "Thanks for12 Jen." She tied a scarf around me. Something warm touched me and I began understanding how much she cared about13 in our new family.

Our neighbours stopped by, "Did you make that yourselves?"

    "Yep. It's a family14," I answered, and Dad smiled.

Yes. A tradition was just what our new family needed. It was already helping to15 all of our different pieces together.

  • 10、阅读下面材料,从方框中所给的A — E五个选项中选出正确选项(其中一项是多余选项),并回答最后小题。

Life keeps changing. While some changes are exciting, others may make us feel nervous. ________ Whether you like them or not, changes cannot be avoided. Having a good understanding of them may make it easier for us to deal with changes.

    What are life changes?

Many new things happen in life. Some are good choices you make, like joining a team or meeting friends. ________ They can be big things like moving schools, a friend going away or the death of your beloved one. Smaller changes might include having a new teacher or adapting to parents' new work schedules. All these can create strong emotions, but that's normal.

    ________

Changes can be difficult because we can't predict results. Emily Hanlon, a psychologist (心理学家), says, "Our brains like familiar things because they feel safe. When something changes, like starting a new school or moving to a new home, it can feel like stepping into the unknown. This makes us anxious because we don't know what's coming." Changes can also be hard if you don't feel quite ready for them or you are not in control of whatever is happening.

Can change be a good thing?

________ Trying new things helps discover what you like and dislike, such as tasting new ice cream flavors to find favorites. Changes also help us grow and learn skills. Hanlon says, "Though changes can be scary, they often bring new experiences, friendships, and strengths. So face the changes and believe in yourself."

    A. Why can it be hard to deal with?
    B. Are changes a normal part of life?
    C. Life would be boring if nothing changed.
    D. How can you predict the results of changes?
    E. But some changes might make you feel worried.

  • 11、Though oceans cover about 71% of the earth's surface, there's still a lot we don't know about them. Only about 20% of the seafloor has been mapped. Scientists use special machines to record the shape and location of the ocean floor. The remaining 80% is still a secret to us. Some scientists even think that 91% of sea animals have yet to be discovered.

So why do we know so little about the deep sea? Well, getting to those depths is very difficult and requires high technology that simply didn't come into being for most of human history. The first navigable submarine (可驾驶的潜水艇), for example, was built in 1620, and it couldn't go more than five meters below the surface. In fact, for a long time, many scientists didn't even think that there could be any life at depths greater than 550 meters and didn't see much need to explore the deep sea.

However, this changed in 1862 when life was discovered as far down as 945 meters below sea level with the help of a digging machine. Ten years later, around 4,700 species unknown before from the ocean floor were discovered.

Since then, high technology has been developed to help explore the deep sea, including satellites. But why is deep-sea exploration still so difficult? Well, at greater depths it is freezing. Everything is completely dark, and the pressure is much greater than that on the surface.

Though we have the difficulties, it's important that we understand the seas. They help control the earth's temperature and produce half of the oxygen (O2) in the air. They can also provide us with information about climate change. Our future depends on learning more about our oceans, and it is possible for us to really understand what is ongoing below the surface.

(1)、Why are some numbers listed in paragraph 1?
A、To help introduce how truly important oceans are. B、To discuss why sea animals have yet to be found out. C、To explain that oceans cover a large area of the earth. D、To show that we have only a little understanding of oceans.
(2)、Which italic (斜体) word has the same meaning as the underlined word "map" in Paragraph 1?
A、Is there a map of China in the classroom? B、Amy mapped out her plans for the new project. C、It is the West Lake that really puts Hangzhou on the map. D、The police have successfully mapped where the missing boy is.
(3)、What caused the change in deep-sea exploration?
A、The invention of sea travel for fun. B、Discovery of life in the deep sea. C、Better temperature under the sea. D、Maps and data about the ocean floor.
(4)、What can we learn from the text?
A、The seas have a strong influence on our future. B、It's very difficult to build a navigable submarine. C、The seas have no lives at a depth of 550 meters. D、It is easier to go into the deep sea than we think.
  • 12、If you think China's tourism is all about pandas and the Great Wall, think again. The country's rich culture, relaxed visa policies (签证政策) and a big increase in film-based travel are attracting foreign visitors to come. With famous films like Ne Zha 2 leading the way, China's travel business is now growing more than ever.

Visitors could spend days exploring China's ancient treasures. These places of interest are amazing, but what really attracts tourists is the perfect mix of old tradition and modern culture, especially through movies like Ne Zha 2—a popular cartoon film which has made people interested in China's traditional stories and how they are being told in a new and modern way.

In December 2024, China made it much easier for people from 54 countries to visit without a visa. They can now stay for up to 10 days. With a 112% increase in visa-free travel in 2024, it's clear that China's travel business is doing very well. Now foreign visitors can stay to visit those popular tourist spots related to "Ne Zha"!

The success of the film has made many people interested in places shown in the story. For example, Chentangzhuang in Tianjin is connected to Ne Zha's hometown Chentang Pass in the film. Now, it is seeing a lot more tourists. This shows that movies are now an important part of how people decide where to travel. In Yibin, a city in Sichuan Province, there are ancient temples that are built to remember Ne Zha. They have attracted many people, causing a 34% rise in hotel bookings.

If you think this cultural tourism growth won't last long, think again. Programs like "China Travel with Chinese Films" are becoming more successful, and people around the world are showing more interest in popular Chinese movies like Ne Zha 2. This makes China a top choice for travellers around the world. China is not just sharing its history—it's sharing its stories, and the world loves it.

(1)、What does the underlined word "film-based travel" in paragraph 1 refer to?
A、Travel to visit real film studios. B、Travel to meet some people in the film. C、Travel to learn how to make a film. D、Travel to visit places shown in the film.
(2)、What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
A、Why tourists like Chinese history. B、What places tourists like to visit. C、How movies show Chinese culture. D、How long tourists stay in China.
(3)、What's the writer's opinion about the future of China's travel business?
A、It fully depends on the future visa policy. B、It'll grow but the growth won't last long. C、It'll be bright with the power of movies. D、It'll grow because of more historical sites.
(4)、What's the best title for the text?

  • 13、I was coming home from school on the bus when I got a text message from Mike. It was very short: Mkt X7. UGNT. I knew it meant he wanted to meet me at the Market Cross at 7 o'clock that evening and it was something urgent (紧急的). It was a bit unusual. We'd planned to meet after school on Friday to prepare for our birdwatching as usual.

Let me give you some background. My name's Don. I'm fifteen and I go to Blueway Comprehensive School. Mike is the same age and goes to the local grammar school, but we've been friends since junior school. We've been birdwatching together since we were 11. We do it every week. We read about it and use the Internet to learn about birds, and we're members of a club for birdwatchers, too.

At 6:45 I walked to Market Cross. Soon I saw him standing on the side of the road.

"Hi, Mike. What's this about?" I asked at once.

"Just wait a moment until we're away from the crowd and I'll tell you," he answered mysteriously (神秘地). We walked over to the yard and sat on a bench.

"After this week of good weather followed by last night's storm, I thought there might be some good birds about," he said.

"And were there?" I asked. A smile played over Mike's face. "Yes, osprey (鱼鹰)." He said very quietly. "What!?" I shouted. "Osprey, and we'd better keep it secret." he said again. I sat looking at him with my mouth open.

I should explain. An osprey is a big hunting bird, which catches fish. There weren't any in Britain because they'd been hunted too much. In 1954 a pair nested in Scotland. They were protected by society because lots of people wanted osprey eggs for their collections. We've never seen one in our village.

Mike continued, "So, shall we go birdwatching tomorrow morning?"

"But do you think it'll be there?" I asked.

"Birdwatcher!" he said. By which he meant that if I was a birdwatcher, I should know that nobody could say what a bird would or wouldn't do at a particular (特别的) time.

    "So, are you coming?"

"Oh…oh…all right." I said, knowing my parents would be very angry. They thought I spent too much time birdwatching.

In recent years, Heze peonies have served as a special symbol to promote exchanges between China and the other countries. The city has made use of its peony culture not only through the beauty, the poetry and art, but also through the international trade. The peony business in Heze has included both sightseeing and different kinds of products, such as seed oil, tea and healthy food. Its peony products have been brought to over 30 countries around the world.

Heze takes full advantage of its peony culture to connect with the world.

①Many of you may know the Venus flytrap (捕蝇草). It's a small plant that looks a bit scary. People often see it as something fun and unusual. Lots of curious kids and even adults use a pencil to touch its traps (陷阱). They want to see how quickly the traps close! But do you know that the Venus flytrap isn't the only plant that "eats" other things? There are over 600 kinds of carnivorous (肉食性的) plants. These plants learned to catch and eat other things in different ways, and this ability developed on its own at least six times in the world of flowering plants.

②Why do these plants "eat" insects? It's not for energy, because like other plants, they can make their own food through photosynthesis (光合作用). The real reason is to get important nutrients (养分) like nitrogen. Most plants get these nutrients from soil, but carnivorous plants live in places where the soil is poor.

③Carnivorous plants have different ways to catch insects. For example, some plants like pitcher plants have leaves shaped like cups. Insects fall into these "cups" and can't get out. Other carnivorous plants such as sundews and butterworts have sticky leaves. When an insect lands on them, it gets stuck. And of course, the Venus flytrap has its famous traps that close quickly around insects. Most of these plants eat insects. But some big pitcher plants can even eat frogs and mice!

④Sadly, many carnivorous plants are in danger. They usually grow in only a few places. As people take up their homes or collect them too much, these amazing plants might disappear forever. We should try to protect them so that we can still see these wonderful plants in the future.

Ethan and his mother walk up the hill near their home every day. One day, Ethan's mother suggested having a race to the top to make the walk special. Ethan's eyes lit up with excitement. "I'll beat you!" he said to his mother.

At first, everything went well. Suddenly, his mother stopped and took pebbles (砾石) out of her shoes.

"What's the matter, Mom?" Ethan stopped and asked. "A few pebbles are in my shoes," the mother replied.

Ethan looked down at his own feet. Feeling uncomfortable because of the pebbles, he said, "I've got pebbles too. But if I stop now, I'll lose the race."

"Ethan, sometimes it's more important to take care of the small problems before they become big ones." "No, I can't stop now." Ethan rushed off, leaving his mother behind.

As the race continued, Ethan ran more slowly. The pebbles in his shoes made his feet hurt. And with each step, he felt more painful.

Later, the mother caught up with her son. "Mom, I can't run anymore. It's wrong of me to ignore these pebbles. I should take them out at the beginning." Ethan said, with tears in his eyes.

The mother stopped to check Ethan's feet. His feet were badly hurt. So they had to stop the race and return home. On their way home, the mother said, "Ethan, taking a minute to remove (移开) pebbles seems like a waste of time, but it could save you from a week of pain. So if you meet problems, you'd better try to solve them, or they may grow and cause much more harm."

"I see, Mom. Learning how to deal with the challenges along the way is so important. It's not just a race to the top, but a race to wisdom," Ethan said.

(3)、What does the underlined word "ignore" mean?
A、Show no interest in. B、Do no harm to. C、Pay no attention to.
