Difficulties Help Me Grow Up

Work plays  important part in our lives. There are many different  (job) around us, like teachers, doctors and cashiers. Each job  (have) its own meaning and value in our society. What can work bring us? It provides us with an opportunity to make a living makes us feel useful. When we help others through work, we will feel proud of  (our). Everyone has a dream job. Some want to be teachers  (help) students grow, while others hope to be doctors to save  (people) lives. Many old jobs disappear but new ones spring up.  the development of technology, some easy jobs are replaced by robots now. For example, many simple tasks in factories are finished by robots every day. And more difficult jobs  (do) by AI in the future, which will make work much  (easy) than before.

Family problems are common during our teenage years, but with understanding, we can always find a way out. Here is a touching story. Lily's mother is a  (女警察). She works day and night to keep people safe. One rainy night, a  (灯) on her desk broke.

Lily asked her mother to fix it at once, but her mother fell asleep on the  (沙发) as soon as she sat down. Lily felt angry and complained to her neighbor Mrs. Green.

Small acts of kindness can warm the whole family. Now, Lily's mother still works hard, but she always gets time to play with Lily every  (学期). As for Lily, she tries to have a (交谈) with her mother every day. So they had few  (分歧，不同意见). Their family is full of love now.

Last term, I didn't take my studies seriously at all. I used to be  and often put off my homework. I gave up easily and didn't want to work hard.  my bad habit, I failed an important exam and felt  in myself. At that time, I couldn't help crying every night. This failure  me that I must stop wasting time. I must face the  . From then on, I started to work hard and became a better self.

In our house, we have one special rule. There's a glass jar (罐子) in the living room. Every time any of us feels angry, sad, or happy during the week, we write the1 down on a piece of paper and put it into the jar. On Sunday evening, we read what we've written and talk about it.

How to have a successful teenage life?

All people want to succeed in their lives, don't they? Even as a teenager, you can achieve success in your life; it really isn't that hard. 

Do well in school. Try your best for excellence in school; listen to the teachers, do your homework, study, and get good grades. Doing so will help you get into a better university, and you will be able to have a bright future. 

Do well in your community. Volunteering can make you happier. Studies show that people who volunteer are less likely to develop depression (抑郁) than people who don't.  For example, if you love animals, volunteer at an animal shelter. When you help others, it will make you feel better about yourself.

 Remember, they're always there to help you. Respect them and value their opinions, even if they sometimes can't understand you. Keep in mind that they always care about you. You don't get to choose your teachers or your family, but you still have to communicate with them. It's important to get along well with people around you. So learn how to respect your parents now.

As teenagers, what else can we do to be successful? (No more than 15 words) 

Cold weather has a great effect on how our minds and our bodies work. Maybe that is why there are so many expressions that use the word "cold".

For example, people who show no human emotions or feelings are said to be cold-blooded. Cold can affect other parts of the body. But the expression "get cold feet" has nothing to do with cold or your feet. The expression means being afraid to do something you have decided to do. For example, you agree to be CEO of a company. But then you learn that all the other officers have resigned (辞职), and all the work of the company will be your responsibility. You are likely to get cold feet about being CEO when you understand the situation.

The expression "give someone the cold shoulder" probably comes from the physical (身体的) act of turning your back toward someone, instead of speaking to him face to face. You may give the cold shoulder to a friend who has not kept a promise he made to you, or to someone who has lied about you to others.

"A cold fish" is not a fish. It is a person. But it is a person who is unemotional and shows no love or warmth. A cold fish does not offer much of himself to anyone. Someone who is a cold fish could be cold-hearted. He or she will never feel sorry for those in bad situation.

"Out in the cold" means not getting something that everybody else got. A person might say that everybody but him got a pay raise — he was left out in the cold. And it is not a pleasant place to be.

Jennifer Smith is one of the people who have dyslexia (诵读困难). She found that she had this unusual problem when she was nine years old. Jennifer said, "On some days, I could remember how to read a simple word like ‘the'. But on other days, I might forget it." Reading and spelling were harder for her than for others. She often felt sad because of it.

Soon after, Jennifer started receiving special courses once a week. Her teacher used different methods to teach her, like showing pictures, listening to sounds, and doing activities. Jennifer worked very hard. After three weeks, she could read whole sentences by herself. That made her feel very pleased.

Three years later, Jennifer found a boy in her neighborhood who had trouble reading. But the boy's parents didn't realize the problem. Jennifer wanted to help him and other kids with the same problem. She thought writing a book about her experience might be helpful.

Writing a book wasn't easy for Jennifer. But when she saw the situation of children with dyslexia, she became even more determined (坚定的). Finally, her efforts paid off. The book Dyslexia Wonders was completed. In the book, she shared her experience with dyslexia and offered advice to deal with it.

Later, Jennifer set up a fund (基金). The money from the fund has helped many kids with dyslexia. She became more confident. "As long as we try hard and have confidence, all of us can get over challenges and make a difference," she said.

Long ago, there was a kind-hearted king in the state of Chu. He cared deeply for his people.

One year in winter, the weather was very cold. It snowed so heavily for several days that everywhere was covered with snow. The common people had to hide in their homes. Soon, the firewood of many families was almost used up. Everyone was shivering (发抖) with cold.

King Chu was wearing thick clothes and warming himself by the charcoal fire (炭火) in the palace. Still, he felt a bit cold. Looking at the heavy snow outside the window, he thought, "I feel so cold even in the warm palace. Those common people must be even colder. How can they stay warm during the winter?" Very soon, King Chu ordered ministers (大臣) to prepare thick clothes and charcoal and handed them out. They knocked on every door and gave clothes and charcoal to each family. When the common people saw King Chu and the ministers coming to send them clothes and charcoal, they were all very moved and said one after another, "King Chu is really a good king. When we were in the greatest need of help, he brought us warmth."

Since then, the phrase "xue zhong song tan" has spread widely. People use it to describe giving help in time when others are in the most difficult situation and in the greatest need of help, just like sending charcoal in the cold winter.
