Rob had problems with bullies at school for eleven years. He was often scared and tired. When he was fifteen, however, he decided to do something about his problems. He walked into a newspaper office and told them about the bullying. His story went into the newspaper and soon all the TV stations in Canada wanted to talk to him about his experiences.

After that, Rob continued his studies at school, but in his free time he helped other people with bullying problems. With a friend Katie, he made a website called www.bullyingcanada.ca. People to the website can find advice, stories and poems about bullying, in both English and French. When people are upset, they can talk on the phone or online to Rob and his team. Every weekend Rob has to answer emails to the website. He also speaks to children, teachers and members of government (政府) around the country about bullying.

Rob's most important message is "When bullies are unkind to you, it isn't your fault. There's nothing wrong with you, so you should try to keep trusting yourself. And remember that there are people caring about your problems. You just have to find those people."

One of Rob's ideas is "Blue Day", a special day for stopping bullying in schools. Students have to wear blue clothes and in class they learn how to stop bullying. More than 150 Canadian schools now celebrate Blue Day, but Rob won't stop until there's a Blue Day in every school in Canada.

the Jin Dynasty, there was a boy called Che Yin, He was smart and loved to read. He grew up in a poor family and couldn't afford lamp oil to study at night. One night, he saw fireflies(萤火虫) outside his house and came up with idea. He caught some fireflies in a bag and  (hang) the bag up as a lamp. It is said that he spent all of his summer nights reading like this.

Another child called Sun Kang also loved reading. One night during winter, Sun used up all of his lamp oil and couldn't study at night. When he woke up at midnight, he saw the snow reflecting the moonlight outside his house. Then he took out his books  (happy) and began to read even though he was cold.

Both of the kids later became  (success) court officials. People  (touch)by their hard-working spirit. So people turned their stories into the Chinese idiom nangyingyingxue.

In a bookstore, we had an interview with Alex White, an author of foreign language learning books. His new series "Language Adventures" has been a hit, helping many learners on their language-learning journey.

Reporter: Why did you write the language books?

Alex White: Well, when I was living abroad as an exchange student,Her passion for learning new languages inspired me to write books that make language learning fun.

Reporter: How were the people there?

Alex White: Their kindness made me feel at home, and their daily conversations were full of language learning chances. These experiences became part of my writing material.

Reporter: 

Alex White: I studied linguistics(语言学) in college. It helped me understand language structures and how people learn new languages, which is really helpful for writing these books.

Reporter: 

Alex White: Yes, there is. "The Magic of Language" by a famous linguist gave me the idea to write in a more story-based way. It showed me that language learning can be an adventure.

Li Ming is a Chinese student. Now he is studying in the UK as an exchange (交换) student. He stays with a lovely host family and goes to school with their son Daniel, who is his good friend and classmate. He is learning Chinese and wants to study in China next year!

The British school day begins around 9 a.m. and ends around 4 p.m. Students must study English, maths and science. They also learn other subjects like history and art. The classes are different from those in China. There are only about 20 students in most of his classes.

Li Ming enjoys most of his classes. He likes science best because he can make interesting things like a clock. Maths is easy for him, but English is difficult. Luckily, his teachers and classmates are always helpful and give him lots of encouragement (鼓励).   

There are many clubs to join after school. Clubs like the music club and the drama club are very popular. Li Ming wants to do better in English, so he is a member of the English club. And joining clubs is a great way for him to meet British students and make friends with them.

Li Ming enjoys his school life in the UK. He learns new things every day and meets kind people. So he also hopes more foreign (外国的) friends will come to study in China.

On birthdays, some Chinese people like wearing red clothes and eating red eggs. They hope they can be healthy and have a long life.

For Chinese people, red is not just a name of the color. In fact, it's a color of Chinese spirit (精神).

It's difficult to keep school gardening going. However, some teachers are finding good ways to make it work. The school garden may be very small, but students can have a lot of fun in it. At first, teachers decide (决定) what vegetables to grow. Then they grow them with students. It is nice for the students to get a tomato, wash it and eat it right in the garden, so tomatoes are their favorites.

Gardening is an interesting andpractical subject. It teaches students a lot. Some vegetables are easy to grow, but others take a long time. This can teach students patience (耐心). With gardens, kids get to see a beginning, a middle and an end to their work. When working with others, they can also learn some teamwork skills (技巧).

Gardening is not just a hobby; it's a life skill.
