Filmed over six months, the series explores 50 historic places across Datong, Taiyuan, and Yuncheng. It follows nearly 100 local people—from craftsmen to shopkeepers. It shows a slow and thoughtful journey to the viewers.

Instead of filming old buildings as cold and empty places, the team tried to show them through the eyes of local people. "We didn't want the buildings to feel like museums," said director Zhou Lifen. "So we chose people living in Shanxi—shopkeepers, craftsmen, farmers—whose lives are closely connected to these old buildings. Their warmth brings history to life." In the documentary, viewers meet an artist in Datong who is making knife-cut noodles, a sculptor who has spent thirty years recreating cave figures (人物), and a craftsman who protects swans along the Yellow River.

"In today's cultural tourism documentaries need to do more than just tell—they need to make people think," said Zhou Lifen. Shanxi in Sight turns the province's popularity into lasting cultural pride and excitement for travel. When a documentary helps understand the past through the warmth of common people, it produces a strong feeling that's truly unforgettable. As one viewer wrote online, "This isn't just a travel show—it's a chance to feel history in daily life."

Fried duck doesn't taste as good as fried chicken

On the menus of fast food restaurants, there always seem to be many fried chicken dishes. But have you wondered why there is no fried duck?

On a Monday morning in Amsterdam, the work day began as usual for Jim. When finishing his coffee, Jim checked text messages on his phone. Then, he got his bag and went to the nearest railway station. He wasn't there to take the train, though. Instead, Jim chose one of the public bicycles lined up outside the station. After unlocking a bike with a smart card, he set out for his job on the other side of the city. He joined other cyclists in the bike lanes (道), safely separated from car traffic.

People in Amsterdam were angry. They organized protests (抗议) in the city streets. Government officers listened. Hoping to solve the problem quickly, they started to think of ways to make the city safe for cyclists again. Soon there were separate bike lanes, and some areas were closed to cars forever. The changes were so effective (有效的) that today Amsterdam is a model of biking safety for other cities around the world.

A cold front (冷锋) is moving towards the north of the country. It may cause snowfall in that area tomorrow. In the evening, the wind might get stronger. There's a strong chance that the snow will continue for a few days, so it's time to get out your thick coats and gloves!

Another cold front is moving south-west across the country. It should arrive on the west coast during the day tomorrow. If this happens, we might see some cold winds and rain reaching the western and southern parts late tomorrow afternoon. The rain may last till Sunday.

On the east coast, we could see a slight rise in temperature tomorrow, from today's high of 16℃ to as high as 18℃. But don't get too excited! I'm afraid the mild weather won't last very long. The cold weather may get to the east part on Sunday or next Monday.

Last Sunday was sunny and beautiful. All week long the Browns were looking forward to visiting the zoo. 1 , Mom and Dad both had colds. All the family had to stay at home.

"It's OK," Peter said in a low voice.
