I'm sure it will be a healthy and full holiday. I'm really looking forward to it.

Are you a book lover? What is your favourite book? A study shows that 90% kids say their favourite books are the ones they pick themselves. There are about 158,464,880 books in the world and about 2.2 million new ones are published (出版) every year. There are so many books in the world that even the most hard-working readers would not be able to finish them all.

However, many people like to reread books. It means they will read the same book again and again. They think books are like people. Some you meet once and that's enough. Some you want to get to know better and every time you are with them, you discover (发现) more about them. Some are old friends you haven't seen for years, but to meet them again is a joy. Every time you read a book, you find something new and your understanding may become different from the last time as you get older.

Still, many people think it's better to spend time discovering a new story. Why read a book you have already read when there are so many more to discover? Books are not like films or songs. They take some time to read, and that time would be better spent reading something new.

The 2025 Asian Winter Games are coming to Harbin, China! The city is popular for (it) icy views these years. Many people think it is perfect place for the Winter, Games.

The Games will take place February 7 to 14. The mascots (吉祥物) are two cute tigers — Binbin and Nini. The (mean) of their names is "Welcome to Harbin". Binbin (enjoy) skating and he is in a blue and white coat. Nini can ski (good) and she wears a red jacket.

Athletes (运动员) from Asia will get together to take part in sports skiing and skating. Some of these sports are fast and difficult, the athletes may fall and get hurt sometimes. To help them, there are special doctors called "ski doctors". They need to ski fast to reach any athlete who gets hurt in three minutes.

During the Games, we will also get to enjoy cultural shows and other fun (activity). We can't wait(cheer) for Team China and enjoy this fantastic event!

Do you know what fog is? It is like a cloud close to the ground. It many very small drops (滴) of water. Fog makes it hard for people to see things far away. Sometimes, you can't even see things in front of you. Fog can be dangerous if you are walking the street. You may not see a car coming, and the driver of the car may not be able to see you either. So be crossing a street when it is foggy.

Fog can be dangerous for people working in a boat. They can lose their way if they can not see the land. Some places have lighthouses to help. People can see a tall tower with a big, light at the top to help them keep boats from getting lost.

Coconuts grow high in coconut trees. The man was too old to climb trees, so he looked for coconuts that had fallen to the ground. After walking a long way, he finally filled his cart with coconuts and then started his way home.

After a short time, the man saw a boy walking down the road. He asked the boy, "Is the village near? Will it take me long to get home?"

The boy looked at the cart full of coconuts. Then he said, "If you go fast, it will take a long time. If you go slowly, you will be home soon."

"What a foolish boy," the man thought. He made his horse go fast and many of the coconuts fell off the cart. It took a long time to pick them up and put them back on the cart.

"Now I have wasted time picking up coconuts," the man said. "I had better hurry so I can get home soon." Once again, the man made his horse go fast. Once again, coconuts fell off the cart. The man stopped to pick them all up.

Finally, the old man thought about the boy's words. "________," he said. He made his horse go slowly, and soon he was home.

Russia

Russians think people should always give money with their right hand and take it with their left hand, or they might lose money. Also, they believe (相信) if someone gets an empty wallet as a gift, he or she will become poor. So people always make sure to put some money inside the wallets they give as gifts.

Greece

Greeks say, "Money attracts money." That is why Greek people always try to carry at least a few coins with them at all times. They believe doing so might bring them more money in the future. Similarly, they believe they will have bad luck if they don't have any money in their wallet or bank account.

Japan

In Japan, the snake is a symbol of money. Some people keep a piece of snake skin in their wallet for good luck. Some people think if you see a white snake, you will be lucky forever. On the other hand, they believe that if they kill a snake, they will lose all their money.

How many children are nearsighted in the world?

To stop becoming nearsighted, kids should play outside more and spend less time on phones or computers. If they have to, it's better for them to rest every 20 minutes. These ways can really help.

It was a holiday, weekend. My parents took me to a peach garden in the countryside. It was a sea of peach flowers — pink and white. There was a wonderful sweet3 in the air too. My parents started taking a lot of pictures of me.

Then Mom asked, "Do you want to take a picture of us too?"

"Yes, yes!" I said4. But Dad was worried. He said that I was too5 and I may break (弄坏) the camera. Mom said, "Let him6. There is no need to worry, dear." Dad was not sure,7 he agreed.

Mom and Dad smiled at the camera. Mom told me to look through the little hole where I would see8 in the middle. "Then hold your breath and press the button (按下按钮)," she said. I listened to Mom's words and held the camera carefully. Click! The picture was taken!

Later, we found the picture really great, with Mom and Dad standing in it. This picture is my favourite. That's9 I have it sitting in a special place on my desk. It makes me think of my first adventure (冒险) with a10.
