Everyone loves beautiful things. For example, some like wearing beautiful clothes. Some enjoy planting beautiful flowers. Some prefer making friends who are warm-hearted. Beauty is everywhere in our daily life. Here are some ways to help us find beauty in our life easily.

First, keep curiosity. We meet different things every day. As students, we have different lessons five days a week at school. We need to remember what the teachers say in class. Keeping curiosity is helpful for us to accept new things. And we will learn better because of it.

Second, share our feelings for beauty with others. It can help us to strengthen our own experience and deepen our understanding of beauty. What's more, we can be more active to discover and enjoy the beauty around us.

Another useful way is to slow down. This idea is supported by former Indian prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He thought we lived in a wonderful life and we could find it with our eyes open. So it's important to slow down, pay attention to details, and discover the beauty that we often miss.

In short, beauty is everywhere in our life. As long as we are willing to open our eyes and hearts, we can discover and appreciate (欣赏) beauty.

(1)、How often do students have lessons at school?

(2)、What is helpful for students to accept new things and learn better?

(3)、What can we do to deepen our understanding of beauty?

(4)、Who thinks we should slow down?

(5)、How many ways to find beauty in our daily life are mentioned in the passage?

    B.书面表达

Many people post things online. Online sharing is a of our daily life now. Different kinds of apps and websites make communication than before. We can share what has happened recently with others. We can also give personal opinions on what we see.

The Internet connects us with friends, family, and people in other countries. Sometimes, when we a prize in a singing competition or do well in a test, we may share the happy news. At times, when we take of beautiful views, we might also post them to share.

However, not everything shared online is kind. Some can be unfriendly. Those unkind words may have unpleasant influences. Maybe people post things without thinking. They just want to play a joke make others laugh. But these are not good reasons.

Good shares can make the online world warm and friendly, while ones can bring trouble to others. So when we want to share something on the Internet, we should ask whether the things we post are proper or not. Think twice sharing. We should be responsible for what we share online. Never make up or anything that is not true. In short, always respect others' feelings. If we can't do that, maybe we're not ready to share online yet.

  • 7、Plastic waste is an increasingly serious problem. Up to now, only 9% of the plastics ever produced have been recycled. The rest remain on earth for hundreds of years. They are washed out into the ocean to become rubbish, harm wildlife and break down into small plastics that can enter our bodies.

Recently, scientists have developed a new method to break down plastic waste with the help of water in the air.The researchers mixed a special metal and activated carbon (活性炭) with PET, the most common type of polyester (聚酯纤维) plastic. Then they heated the composite. After a short time, this broke the chemical connections in the polyester. Next, when the team left the material in the air, the mixture turned into TPA, a polyester material, and acetaldehyde (乙醛), an industrial chemical. Finally, these valuable chemical materials were recycled.

After the first success, researchers tested the method on different plastics and found it worked on polyester plastic only. That meant they didn't need to separate different kinds of plastics. Also, when they added water, it stopped working because the amount (量) of water in the air was just right.

The team's next plan will be to use the method widely in industry.

"It's hopeful that our technology can hugely reduce plastic pollution, lower the environmental footprint of plastics and help materials be reused instead of being thrown away," researchers said. "It's a large change towards a cleaner, greener future, and it shows how creative chemistry can solve world challenges in a way that joins hands with nature."

The Great Wall is one of the world wonders. It is the longest wall in the world. The total length of all the parts added together is more than 13,000 miles. Researchers have recently found that parts of the wall have been kept over time by something called a biocrust—a thin coat of plant life.

The Great Wall was built for around 2,000 years. The first parts were started around 220 BC. It was built to protect China from enemies coming from the north. The most famous parts of the wall were built from stone, but in some areas it was built using "rammed earth" (夯土). This is when soil and rocks are pressed together. Over time, wind and rain can easily wear down rammed earth, so scientists often question how these old parts of the Great Wall have tried to remain for such a long time. A group of researchers from China Agricultural University in Beijing examined a part of the wall and found that more than two thirds of the examined wall was covered in biocrust. They found that the natural material was actually stronger than the rammed earth. This means that the biocrust has actually made the wall strong and protected it from being worn down by weather over the years.

These could be important for protecting old buildings. Although the biocrust may not look nice, its natural ability to keep things could be a very useful tool for experts looking for ways to protect important ancient buildings.

How to Find Ideas for Inventions

Do you want to create something new? Here is some simple advice on how to find good ideas.

First, think about things you use every day. Many inventions are not completely new, but better ones of old things. For example, Facebook made social media easier than older sites. You don't need to be an expert. Start with what you know well. If you are good at computers, maybe you can design a helpful app. Remember, small changes can make a big difference.

Next, Is there anything that troubles you or your family? Perhaps you often lose your keys. An invention that solves a common problem can be very useful. Talk to friends about their daily difficulties. Their problems might give you a great idea.

Also, always keep an open mind. Some great inventions come from accidents or silly ideas. Sometimes, The Slinky toy was born when a spring fell off a shelf. The Popsicle (冰棒) was invented by a boy who left his drink outside in winter. So, don't give up on strange ideas. Write them down and think about them later. They might lead to something great.

Finally, remember to observe the world carefully. Improving old things can lead to successful new inventions. Pay close attention to how people use everyday items. Ask questions, stay curious, and try to make things work better.

    A. look for small problems around you.

    B. Can you make them better or easier to use?

    C. mistakes or accidents can help create something wonderful.

    D. You should always try to invent something big and important first.

    E. Everyone can be an inventor if they just start thinking and trying.

  • 16、Have you ever wondered how the huge and heavy pterosaurs could fly? These big animals lived millions of years ago. Now, researchers from the University of Edinburgh think they have finally found the answer.

Pterosaurs had long, thin tails with a special fan-shaped part at the end. This part was formed in a very careful way and couldn't be seen by normal eyes. With the help of new laser (激光) technology, Dr. Natalia Jagielska and her team were finally able to uncover its secret. After studying 150-million-year-old pterosaur fossils (化石), they found something shining under the laser light.

The shining thing looked like the supporting part inside an airplane wing. The team believes it helped the tail becomestiff in the wind. Instead of moving like a flag, the tail worked like a sail on a ship. This allowed the animal to fly and turn in the air. A balanced tail was key for their flight control. "This helps us understand how early pterosaurs first flew and why their tails were important," said another scientist who was not in the study.

The research also shows that later pterosaurs lost their tails as their bodies became lighter and their flying skills improved. This discovery helps us learn how flight developed in animals over time. It may also give engineers new ideas to design better planes, drones (无人机), and even tents in the future.

(1)、How does the writer start the first paragraph?
A、By giving an example. B、By listing numbers. C、By asking a question.
(2)、What helped scientists study the special fan-shaped part of pterosaurs?
A、Its long tail. B、Some ancient drawings. C、New laser technology.
(3)、What does the underlined word "stiff" mean in paragraph 3?
A、Strong and balanced. B、Difficult to move. C、Unfriendly or uncomfortable.
(4)、According to the text, what might engineers learn from this discovery?
A、How to discover more pterosaur fossils. B、How to design better planes and drones. C、How to make animals have stronger tails.
  • 17、Sometimes, a few words said at the right time can change a life. This happened to Lucy after a difficult experience in high school.

Lucy got a solo (独唱) for the first concert in her high school. She felt fine until she learned the whole school would come to watch. The hall was filled with students, teachers, and parents. She grew nervous. The show began. Lucy noticed some people looked bored. Then she saw the microphone (麦克风) for her solo and realized a big problem: no one had taught her how to use it. But it was her turn. She walked to the microphone.

The solo began well until the final high note. Her mouth was too close to the microphone. A terrible, loud sound came out suddenly. The whole audience (观众) jumped back in their seats, many with mouths open in shock. Lucy felt completely ashamed. She wished to disappear.

After the concert, she had to go back to class. Walking sadly in the hallway, eyes on the floor, she saw a pair of large sports shoes. She looked up and saw a tall girl she didn't know. She expected to be made fun of. Instead, the tall girl smiled and said, "You really have a super wonderful voice." Those words changed everything. They made Lucy think that maybe she could keep singing. Because of her kindness, Lucy decided to study music in college. She is now a famous singer. She will never forget that tall girl, whose few kind words gave her the courage to follow her dream for music.
