Natalie Ringold is a fourth-grade teacher. She's good at communicating. She always tries to teach her students about the power(影响力) of words. 

When Ringold is free, she often shares videos of her lessons online. These lessons and the way she communicates with her students have got over 179, 000 followers. One of these recent lesson videos, recorded on the last day of the 2024 school year, becomes popular these days. 

In the video, Ringold teaches her students what they say matters and affects the people around them. She starts the video by saying, "If somebody can't change something about themselves in 30seconds or less, then you shouldn't mention it to them. " After saying this, Ringold starts an experiment(实验). She begins to squeeze a new toothpaste she is holding onto her desk. 

"If you say something that someone can't change in half a minute or less, " Ringold says, as she tries to get the toothpaste back into the tube(牙膏管), "you try to make up for(弥补) it, you try to say sorry, or you try to take the words back. But it's something that they can't change about themselves. So it's a mess. " At last, the teacher gives up the impossible task, leaving a mess on her desk. 

"Your words have power, " Ringold says. "So when you walk out of this room, try to spread(传播) kindness to the people around you. That will make a great difference. "

Last weekend, I was feeling really bored at home. I had finished all my homework and there was nothing interesting on TV. I was  tired of staying indoors. So, I called my cousin who lives in the countryside. He was excited to hear from me and said he show me around. 

When I arrived, the fresh air made me feel very  . We went to the fields and saw many interesting things. In the afternoon, we a small hill nearby. From the top, we could see the beautiful scenery of the  . It was so different from the city. 

I didn't want to leave when it was time to go home. This trip made my weekend full of fun. I can't wait for the next visit!

Lily Miller is a Grade 8 student. She loves living in the city, especially during the 1 . But this summer vacation, her parents 2 to go to her grandparents' farm.

First created in the Yuan Dynasty, the central axis of Beijing(北京中轴线) runs 7. 8 km through the heart of Beijing. And in 2024, UNESCO added it to the world heritage(遗产) list. 

On July 24, 2024, some international students went on a ride tour along the central axis of Beijing. They started at the Yongding Gate, the southern point of the central axis, and went north to the Drum Tower and the Bell Tower at the northern point. Although it was quite hot that day, the students could not hide(隐藏) their excitement after finishing the three- hour bike ride. They gave each other a high five. 

" This journey is very good. It's great to experience everything, " said Callum Deighton, a student from the University of York, Britain, adding that he was amazed by the historical buildings along the central axis. 

Deighton attended a bike riding course(课程) started by the Peking University Summer School International 2024 with a group of students from different countries. During the one- month course in July, they had the chance to learn about bikes and the skills to help them ride better, while joining bike tours to explore the ancient beauty of Beijing. 

Maria Lamb, also from the University of York, visited the Great Wall and the Forbidden City when she came to Beijing years ago, but she knew the city could offer(提供) more than she could ever think of. " The central axis of Beijing of course shows its culture. If you read between the lines of the buildings, you can recognize(辨别出) the history, " she said. 

I have two sons, Tommy and Jimmy. Tommy likes doing the housework. He often helps clean up the mess in his free time. However, Jimmy hates that very much. He usually(lie) on the sofa after he gets home after school. 

It was Saturday yesterday. Tommy got up early and had breakfast. When he was doing chores, Jenny, his friend, came to our house to play  him. Jenny saw Tommy(clean) the floor by himself, so she asked me if she could help Tommy. Of course I agreed. I passed them a bucket(桶) of water and (give) each of them a piece of rag(抹布). The floor became wet, and their feet got wet, too. At this time someone called me up.I went out to answer the phone. Ten minutes later, when I came back, they already finished the work. Jenny never does the housework, but that day she did good job. Seeing the clean floor, Jenny said she had a strong (feel) of satisfaction. "I used to think it was the parents' job (do) the housework, but now I change my idea. We should do  we can to help them, " she said. After that day, Jenny becomes a (help) girl.
