The Chinese video game, Black Myth: Wukong（《黑神话：悟空》）, made the classic story of Journey to the West popular around the world in 2024. Actually, the story in the video game has been recreated, which is not the same as the classic story about the monkey Sun Wukong (Monkey King), protecting the monk Tang Sanzang on his journey.

Sun Wukong's journey is a lot like the stories of heroes in Western cultures, such as Hercules from Greek myths. These stories show heroes who might make mistakes but become better over time, just like today's superheroes. Sun Wukong learned the lesson that"with great power comes great responsibility" long before superheroes like Spider-Man. 

This is why people all over the world like to create new stories about Journey to the West. Movie site IMDb（互联网电影资料库）lists 78 versions in film and TV. Beyond that, it has been adapted through other art forms. 

Once a year, Ursula Bannister hikes to High Rock Lookout, a beautiful spot near Ashford, Washington. Usually, she walks the 3. 2-mile path with someone else. But last August, Bannister, then 79, decided to go alone. She felt confident because she was an experienced hiker. 

"The path is steep（陡峭）, so it's considered difficult, but I' ve done it many times, so I wasn't worried, " says Bannister, who lives in Tacoma. 

She started hiking at 11 a. m. and reached the lookout. On her way back, her foot got caught in a hole, and she fell. "When I sat up, my foot was pointing the wrong way. I knew it was broken, " she says. 

She called for help, and soon, a stranger came and called 911. They were told a help team would arrive in five hours. 

"That wasn't very encouraging, " Bannister says. "I asked if anyone had painkillers because the pain was very bad. " No one nearby had any. But two young men, Troy May and Layton Allen, saw her and offered to carry her down the path. May, an Air Force airmail, said, "I knew I could carry her. I didn't think much——I just knew I had to help. "

May carried Bannister on his back for most of the three-hour hike, and Allen helped too. Along the way, others joined in to help. One man even gave May his shoes to replace her broken ones. A doctor on the path helped fix her foot. 

"I was so thankful——these people came out of nowhere to help me, " Bannister says. 

To keep her away from the pain, they asked about her life. She told them about growing up in Germany and moving to the U. S. at 14. 

Finally, they reached the parking lot. Allen drove her to the hospital, where she learned she had broken her leg in three places. 

After an operation, Bannister has become better and those people who helped her still check on her. "I think we' ll be friends for a long time, " she says. 

It's too bad you can't ask a dog for the shortest way home when you' re lost. If you could, the dog might know a lot more than you think. 

In 2015, a dog walked 11 miles from its new home to return to its owner. This was amazing because the dog had been taken to its new home by car and had to find its way back on foot. This means the dog didn't have a chance to learn the way. 

"An 11-mile distance（距离）is not very long for a dog, " says Dr. Bonnie Beaver, a professor at Texas A&M University. "If the dog had walked both to and from its home, it would have followed its own smell way. " In this case, the dog was probably following the smell of its owner. This kind of navigation（导航）is possible over long distances if the wind is right. 

Dogs can smell things over a wide area by moving through overlapping（重叠）circles of familiar smells. This is similar to how cell phone coverage works, with signals from different towers connecting to each other. If a dog goes outside its usual area, it might pick up the smell of a familiar dog in the next circle. This could lead it to a circle with a familiar person, trees and so on. 

A dog's personality can also influence how it finds its way. A dog that travels a long distance to get home is likely to try to return to its owner, because the connection between a dog and a person is very strong.

A long heat wave hit Europe last summer. The temperature reached 40℃. While both electric fans and air conditioners can help beat the heat, a comparison between the two has never stopped. 

In most cases, an electric fan is able to get the job done. Most of them take no time to set up. They can be easily carried around in a room. Electric fans are much cheaper than air conditioners.  You could leave a fan running for 24 hours and still use less energy than two hours of air conditioning

But fans and air conditioners work in quite different ways. An electric fan doesn't cool the air in your home. It leaves you feeling cooler by moving the air around so that your sweat (汗) dries up faster. In comparison to fans, air conditioners can lower the temperature of the whole room. When you have your air conditioner on, you can feel its effect from wherever you stand.

In short, electric fans can work wonders in summer and they are better for the environment. But turning on a fan doesn't make much difference when the temperature is above 35℃.  You should also use an air conditioner when you are sharing your room with others.

There's no better way to start the holidays than with a holiday movie. The storylines of these movies are often silly, and easy to understand. The characters are not reasonable enough. The plot moves too fast to be realistic. Even so, the happy endings make you feel enjoyable. And as it turns out, there are reasons behind the joy you get from watching them

With more than 30 years of tireless effort, China finally made history in an international chess competition this year.

On April 30, Ding Liren took the crown of the World Chess Championship(锦标赛). He beat the Russian player Ian Nepomniachtchi when the Russian made a serious mistake in the final match. Ding became the new world chess champion and also the first Chinese male (男子) player to win the title. His victory means that China now holds both the men's and women's world titles in chess. Before him, Xie Jun first won women's world title in 1991. From then on, Chinese chess players have made great progress on the world stage.

Matt and his mum lived in the country next to a huge forest. There were trees and birds everywhere.They went walking in the forest every weekend. They looked for birds, found feathers and picked berries. Matt thought he lived in the best place in the whole world,

But, at the start of spring, everything changed. His family moved to the city as his mum found a new job. There was no forest in the neighbourhood, and that made Matt sad.
