Do you like playing Chinese chess? It's good for the thinking skills. Yan Zixi likes it and plays it very well. She is a girl from Zhejiang. She is the youngest (最年轻的) Chinese chess player of China. How does she become so good at Chinese chess? Yan has played Chinese chess for four years. Her parents make her play Chinese chess because they want her to learn some Chinese characters (汉字) from it. Then she enjoys playing it very much and it becomes part of her life. Later, she begins to take part in (参加) lots of matches. The match next week in Shanghai is the most important one for her. For three months, she plays Chinese chess from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. every day. Now she gets ready for it. "Playing Chinese chess is good for my math," she says, "and it also makes me more creative. In the future, I want to start a Chinese chess club at school. I want to be the president of it."
