How are school days like in America? What do they often do at weekends?

Well, in America, from Monday to Friday, the students spend about six hours a day at school. They don't have morning readings and there are seven classes a day. The classroom is not very big and there are twenty or thirty students in a class. They have different lessons in different classrooms. They don't have much homework after school. They often do sports and read books. 

American students' weekend life is varied. On Friday evening, they always have a party or go out. On Saturday, they often have some special lessons, help their parents at home or play games in friends' houses. They also watch TV. On Sunday, students often go out and play sports with their friends or clean their rooms. 

We have a School Open Day this Thursday. Here are activities for the parents.

My name is Mary, and I'm from a small village. Today is my first day at the new school. My new school is very modern. The teachers are very friendly and the classrooms are wonderful. Every room has a computer with a special screen, almost as big as a cinema screen. The screen can show photos, texts and information from the Internet. It is amazing. 

The English class is really interesting. We use a new textbook and our teacher, Ms Chen's method of teaching English is different from the teachers' at my old school. She thinks that reading is important, and we speak a lot in class too. And we have fun. I don't think I will feel bored in Ms Chen's class. Today we introduce ourselves and then we work by ourselves. We do this in groups. Some students are shy at first, but everyone is very friendly and it is really nice. 

There are forty-five students in my class. Twenty-one of them are girls. People say that girls are usually more hard-working than boys. But in this class, everyone works hard.

Everyone could find their own interest, some even at a very young age.

Tang Lei was born in 2017. Her mom Liang Hua worked in a supermarket in the past,  she lost her job in 2023. As a mother of two, she had to make money for her family. She could make cakes, so she started  (sell) cakes.
