Nobody can be happy all the time. You may become unhappy sometimes， for example， when you fail an exam or when you lose one of your friends. It's normal(正常的) to have bad feelings. If you don't know how to deal with these problems， you may learn something from Jeff.

Jeff almost went mad(发疯的) when his elder brother was dead in a car accident. He refused to play football or go to the movies with his friends. Instead， he just sat in his bedroom and didn't talk to anyone， even his parents. Jeff felt that the world was unfair(不公平的). He was quite angry with the driver because his car hit his brother， even though it was an accident. After a few months， Jeff began to understand it was useless to be angry. Now he still misses his brother， but he doesn't hate the driver any longer. He is beginning to talk to his parents and that makes them happy again. He no longer stays in his room by himself. Instead， he goes to the movies or plays sports with his friends. He is feeling better now.

After something bad happens， what do you think about it？ Do you like to look at the good side or the bad side？

Jerry is a manager of a restaurant. When he leaves for another restaurant， many workers go with him， too. They want to work with Jerry. It is because Jerry is always happy and always has something good to say. If a worker is having a bad day， Jerry is there telling the worker how to look at the good side of things.

I ask him， "I don't understand it！ How can you always be a positive person？"

Jerry answers， "Each morning I wake up， I say to myself， 'Jerry， you can choose to be in a good mood(心情) or you can choose to be in a bad mood.'     ▲    . Each time something bad happens， I choose to learn from it， not choose to be sad. Every time someone comes to me in a bad mood， I choose to help him or her see the positive side of life."

In different languages， different colours mean different feelings. In English， red is an angry colour. You know， "see red" means "be angry". But in China， red is a happy colour. In China， red means life. It can mean "happy and lively(活泼的)". We often wear the red clothes in the happy time， such as New Year and the wedding(婚礼). But we can't write living people's names in red. In some Asian countries， people write the names of the dead people with red colour. In China the symbol of death also includes white. When someone is dead， there is much white cloth on the doors and windows of one's house.

Blue is the colour of the sky and the sea. In English， you can say you feel blue when you are sad.

Green sometimes means safety(安全). The green light means "go". In English， green can mean little experience. The new worker is very green.

When you are feeling unhappy， there are six ways to make you feel good about yourself.

◆Look in the mirror and say to yourself， "I'm a special person and there's no one in the world like me. I can do anything！"

◆Do something nice for someone. Helping others always makes you feel good.

◆Smile！ Be friendly to other people. Look for the good things in your friends and family.

◆Learn something new！ Do you want to decorate your own room or learn how to swim？ Go for it！

◆Read and start a diary. Write down your thoughts and feelings in it！

◆Stay with your family. We all need our family time. Talk with your mum and dad.
