According to a 2025 report, there are over 120 million pet cats and dogs in Chinese cities, and many owners are hard to find safe ways to transport their pets. Starting from April 8th, the railway carried out a pet shipping service on some Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway trains. This service allows passengers to travel with their pets while keeping them separate from other passengers. 

Separate Transportation

During the journey, pets are kept in special air-conditioned boxes with built-in systems（系统）to manage oxygen(O) levels, temperature, and humidity（湿度）。  The staff members check on the pets every 2 hours to make sure they are safe and comfortable. 

Cost

Prices are different by distance. 

Short trips(up to 1, 000 km):558 yuan/ pet. 

Long trips(over 2, 000 km):1, 258 yuan/ pet.

Each booking includes basic insurance（保险）worth 2, 000 yuan to protect against unexpected things. 

Booking and Requirements

Passengers can book the pet shipping service through the official 12306 app at least 2 days before their trip. 

Weight: No more than 15 kg. 

Height: No taller than 40 cm from the shoulders. 

Only cats and dogs are allowed. Strong and aggressive（好斗的）dogs like Tibetan Mastiffs are not allowed. 

How to Use the Service

Online Booking: 

Drop-off and Pick-up: Hand over your pet to the staff at the departure（启程）station. You will receive a message when your pet arrives at the destination（目的地）。

How was your last vacation? My friends and I had a meaningful (有意义的) trip. We wanted  help farmers in the countryside. There is a village far from our city, so we took a bus there.It was sunny   a bit windy. But the farmers were still working in the fields. We helped pick apples and carry them to the trucks. The farmers were very happy and gave us some fresh fruit. Later, we heard someone shout, "There  a snake over there!" We all stayed calm (冷静的) and called the villagers for help. Luckily, the snake didn't hurt anyone. At the end of the day, we learned a lot   farming. What  unforgettable day it was!
