We all believe that it's necessary to have dreams. Anyway, to make dreams into reality is not  easy thing. A young man called Frank would like to work hard to make his dreams come  . Frank went diving（潜水）in Australia  he was 16. He was shocked to see (much) plastic bags than fish in the sea. Frank made up his mind to clean up the ocean.  , everyone told him that there was nothing he could do to stop plastic bags from (go) into the ocean. But the young man didn't give  . He spent several months studying plastic pollution. Finally, he came up with a science project using floating barriers（漂浮的栅栏）for collecting the waste. That is to say, instead of using net s and ships to collect the plastic bags, the barriers can make the plastic bags (come) together with the help of natural ocean currents（洋流）and wind. What's more, the collected plastic bags can be recycled and made into products or oil. Finally, Frank (win) prizes for the project, but that was not enough for him. In 2013, he set up the Ocean Clean-up. Together with scientists, engineers and (volunteer), the young man is working hard to clean up the ocean. This great project will help make our world a better place. 

To help parents be better parents, Jilin University started the family education major（专业）. The major is the first of its kind in China. About 120 parents with children of different ages are interested in it. To get a diploma（文凭）, they need to finish 100 class hours within four months. 

"Parents worry about their children's study more than ever before. Through the classes, we want to help them feel less stressed and build a healthy relationship with their children, " said Yan Hanbing, a professor（教授）at Jilin University. 

There are more than 20 different kinds of classes for parents to choose from. They can choose the classes according to their children's ages and the problems they want to solve. 

"The classes will not only give parents new ideas but also show how to put them into practice, " said Yan. "For example, parents will learn the reasons why teenagers get addicted to（对……上瘾）the Internet, such as meeting a difficulty or not having a friend to play with in life. That will help them solve the problem easily. "

Hao Zhaoqiang is a father of a high school student. He would like to make a change by taking the classes. "I hope to help my child to be a happier and better person. " he said. 

Bamboo（竹子）is one of the nature's most surprising plants.  Like other kinds of grass, a bamboo plant may be cut very low to the ground, but it will grow back very quickly.  Bamboo grows almost everywhere in the world except Europe. There are more than 1, 000 kinds of bamboo. 

Not all bamboo looks the same.  They may only grow to be a few centimeters（厘米） wide while others may grow to be more than 30 centimeters wide. This plant also comes in different colors, from yellow to black to green. 

Bamboo has been used to make many things such as hats and kitchen tools. Many Asian countries have been using bamboo for hundreds of years. They often use bamboo for buildings and supporting new buildings and bridges while they are being built. 

 These African countries need a cheap way to find water because they have no money, and their crops often die from no rain and no water. Bamboo pipes（管子）help poor farmers bring water to their fields without spending a lot of money. 

Children know that summer is probably the most fun of all seasons. However, experts say that it is also the most dangerous, especially for children aged 14 and under. In its first study of children's safety, the National Safe Kids Campaign(NSKC) found that nearly half of the injury-related（与受伤相关的）deaths among children are in summer. 

Experts are also surprised by the study's result. They always know summer is a dangerous season for children. During the summer, children are out of school and spend more time outdoors. They are more likely to get into an accident. "While we encourage children to be active and spend time outdoors, they need to understand the importance of safety. " said Everett Koop, an expert of the NSKC. 

To help children stay safe, the NSKC started a "Make it a Safe Kids Summer" Campaign（运动）during National Safe Kids Week, from May 5 to May 12. Here are some important summer safety tips from the NSKC:

●Always wear your seat belt. 

●Make sure there is an adult around when you decide to go swimming. 

●Wear a life jacket when doing water sports on a boat. 

●Follow all traffic rules. 

Life sometimes can be so difficult for us. You may feel the whole world is against you. However, a good change in mind or actions may turn your life around. 

Many times, when you are feeling down, thoughts can be running around your head. You may miss out on some of your brighter ideas. To stop this, you should write down your goals（目标）. This will make them clearer in your mind and give you something to keep on. Writing it down will help you think about how you can achieve it. It will make you feel much better after you mark it in your list. 

Short-term pleasure such as junk food or computer games is not true happiness. You'd better cut out a lot of the negative things in your life. You can start a new hobby like exercising. It can improve your body as well as feelings. Doing things like that will help you get into a better man. You can even see your progress in the mirror. 

If you still can't change by yourself, there is no shame in finding help from someone. By reaching out, you are already making a great step. It doesn't even have to be a professional（专业人士）. Sometimes just go to your friends and family and tell them what your trouble is. It helps a lot. 

It is not easy to make a change and maybe not everyone needs to do it. What works for one person may not work for somebody else. You need to find what helps you out and then stick to（坚持）it. If you can find out the goals and develop some good habits, your life will slowly but surely turn around.
