There are many famous poems written about the Yangtze River. Many ancient poets expressed their feelings and painted wonderful scenes along this great river. For example, WangBo, a great poet of the Tang Dynasty, once wrote:

"Sunset clouds and lone wild ducks fly side by side;

Autumn waves merge with the boundless sky in one dye."

From this beautiful poem, we can fully enjoy the peaceful and breathtaking views of the river at sunset. What's more, the Yangtze River has seen a number of touching travel stories and recorded(记录) people's different feelings. It saw happy and relaxing moments. When Li Bai sailed downstream along the Yangtze River happily, he wrote his famous lines:

"At dawn amid gay clouds I leave White Emperor Town;

A thousand li toJiangling takes but one day down."

Besides joy, it also saw sad departures(分别) between close friends. When Li Bai stood by the river and watched his friend Meng Haoran leave far away, he poured out his deep sadness,

"A lonely sail is lost in the boundless blue ________▲____,

Where I see but the endless River rolling by."

However, in recent years, plants and animals of the river have faced problems because of all kinds of human activities. To deal with this, the country made a protection plan in 2016 for our"mother river". Over the past 10 years, many great changes have taken place. Thousands of factories were closed or moved and new technologies(技术) were introduced to protect the river.

The Yangtze River is growing in a greener way. This has helped bring our mother river back to life. Behind this is a simple idea: Protecting the river is protecting our home.

LU XUN—— Power in his words

Lu Xun, a great writer in history, lived from 1881 to 1936. He had so many famous works, including Call to Arms, Wandering, A Madman'sDiary and so on.

Lu Xun is one of the founders of modern Chinese literature. He helped create and shape modern Chinese literature with his great works and ideas. His works have been translated(翻译) into more than 70 languages. In the US and some other English-speaking countries, his works are even included in university literature textbooks.

Speaking of Lu Xun,"writer" may be the first word that comes to mind. What may surprise many people, though, is that he was also good at geology(地质学), art and foreign languages. He once studied medicine, and he was also one of the first people in China to get a formal education in geology.

If he had wanted to, Lu Xun could have had success in these fields(领域). However, living in an old and weak country, he believed that writing was the most important way to change people's minds. He once said,"people of an old and weak country, however strong and healthy they may be,will never stand up if their minds don't change. So the most important thing is to change their spirit." However, it can't be changed from one day to the next. Lu Xun felt worried about China's future all the time. He kept fighting with his pen and went on writing until the end of his life.

Today, we live in peace, but we still have to face many problems. In his writing, Lu Xun shared his critical thinking(批判性思维) and deep care for the nation. This is a great treasure for us all.

On Day 5 of our trip to China, we visited the Ladder Cliff of the Yellow River(黄河大梯子崖)in Yuncheng, Shanxi. When I 1 , I was amazed by the beautiful views, and I could say2 but"Wow!"
