Every child has a dream of what he or she wants to be, right? When Renee Bunts was little, her dream was to become a volunteer firefighter because her father was one. Sadly, when she was 14, her father died and she was never able to volunteer with him. Renee's story doesn't end there, however, which is why I think of her as a hero. She was strong-minded and never gave up. After graduating from college, she became a real firefighter. She has done very well because she really likes the job. 

Every day she must be ready to deal with any emergencies. Sometimes Renee works nine to eleven days a month on 24-hour shifts (轮班). She also has a family to take care of. Her husband is a firefighter, too. 

When I asked Renee what the best part of her job was, she replied, "Helping people and saving their lives. " I think that shows signs of being a true hero. She's always glad to do anything for anyone in need. With 140 firefighters in her station, Renee is one of the three women.

Takeover Day is for young people to "take over (接手)" the work from adults. Of course, it's impossible to give someone the job of becoming a film star. However, Takeover Day gives young people jobs as engineers, policemen, musicians, computer programmers, teachers and reporters. 

What's the day for? First, students can have social practice (社会实践). Second, adults can learn something new from students.

"Although I am very tired at night, working here is really exciting," said Simon. He became a coach of the football team that day. "I want to do this job every day. " 

Sally, 15, became the headmaster (校长) of her school. "It was really difficult!" she said. "So many meetings!" However, Sally thinks she learned a lot. 

"My favourite part of the day was meeting the school cook for us students. It was a great time to tell him what we really like eating!"
