How do they work like humans? First, their body shape is similar to ours. They have human-like bodies with arms, legs, heads and sensing parts. Special machines let their body move freely.Cameras and sensing parts help them see things and hold objects. Next, AI gives them"brains". It helps them understand the environment, learn new skills and answer human orders quickly.

Many Chinese companies are making huge progress in developing such robots. In the future, we can always see them in many places at any time. They will be good helpers in homes, hospitals, schools and workplaces. They will also do more challenging or boring jobs for humans around the clock. With better technology, they will certainly have a great influence on how we work, study and live.

Recently, a shoulder bag with a cute, hand-embroidered (手工刺绣)tiger face  (sudden) went popular online. It comes from ZhuangBrocade(壮锦),traditional skill well-known in Chinese history.

"I have never seen a bag that is so cute and so cultural at the same time!" a young girl(write) on the Internet.

Liu Siwei is the one behind the tiger face bag. She got the idea from some traditional tiger-head shapes during a trip to Gansu province and then decided to put them into a bag people could wear, weaving(编织)tradition into daily life.

Every part of the bag carries a special meaning. For example, the butterfly on the tiger's nose is the symbol  good luck.

It may sound like a magic story that plants can actually sense sounds around them. A new study by scientists at MIT found that rice seeds (种子) can"hear" the sound of raindrops and use the information to"decide" when to grow. It's not completely new. Earlier studies have already shown some plants could respond to (反应) the environment. They can sense the sounds when caterpillars eat leaves, and when bees fly past. The new study shows that plants are even smarter than we thought. 

To make sure the seeds respond to sound instead of water, scientists did a test. They chose to focus on rice seeds because rice is usually planted in water. Thousands of rice seeds were put in water. By this way, all of the seeds could get enough water to grow. Some stayed in quiet water,while others sensed man-made raindrops.

The result was surprising. The seeds that"hear" raindrop sounds grew 30 to 40 percent faster than the ones in quiet water. This faster growth helps seeds live better in nature. Scientists also found out why this happens. Falling raindrops create clear vibrations in the water. Inside rice seeds, there are tiny parts called statoliths keeping balance. These parts move quickly when they feel the vibrations, which tells the seeds to start growing earlier.

The scientists believe that sensing rain sounds may help seeds make sure they' re in a good place to grow. They think this special ability is not just for rice.

Chao Ziyi and Chao Ziwei are brothers from Henan province. More than 20 years ago, making large bowls was their job. If someone told them they would one day become artists, they would just laugh at it as a joke. But you can never predict what life will bring you next. Today,they both teach at a university, and their works are shown at home and abroad.

They learned every step of making ceramics (陶瓷) on their own from a young age, and this gave them something even more valuable——a deep love for their material. Artists and teachers later led them into the world of ceramic art. Although receiving no professional art training, the brothers gradually developed a style—— use ceramics, an old Chinese material, to express modern ideas and personal memories.

Their most fascinating artwork is a huge ceramic tractor (拖拉机) called Dongfanghong. It is over two meters long and weighs two tons, with no support inside. Different thicknesses and thin parts let the clay break easily. They worked day and night, trying special materials and changing the heat levels again and again. The artwork finally looked like real metal through their years of efforts.

Thanks to their efforts and new ideas, the brothers have won many prizes, and their artworks are kept in famous museums. Their story shows us that with patience and strong mind, even the most common journey can lead to something amazing.

To most people, a handmade book is only paper and thread. But for Anastasia, a young girl from Russia, every page has a special story she wants to tell the world.

Anastasia studies in St. Petersburg. Before she came to China, she read lots of Chinese folk stories online.She was very happy when she knew she would come to China for a cultural exchange. She spent much time prepar-ing for the trip to learn about traditional Chinese culture.

In China, Anastasia and her classmates stayed for a month to learn from local artists. They learned the story of"double happiness(双喜)" and the twelve zodiac animals(十二生肖). They also visited old gardens and experi-enced the life of ancient Chinese people. Everything was new and interesting for them.

The story of the twelve zodiac animals attracted Anastasia most. She said Russia also had animal signs, so theChinese zodiac made her feel warm. But the story about the rat was new to her,  so she decided to write this story in her book.

With the help of Mr. Xu Jinlin,  a Chinese teacher,  the  students made their own handmade books. One ofAnastasia's classmates, Natalia,  drew many beautiful pavilions(亭)  and bridges from Chinese gardens. And her friend Natasha made special pages for Chinese Xiehouyu—— two-part sayings with hidden meanings.

From this special journey, Anastasia and her classmates found that people from different cultures could under-stand each other through sharing stories.

Anastasia looks on her book as a great treasure. She will take it back to Russia and share Chinese stories with her family and friends. She hopes more people can learn about traditional Chinese culture from her book.

In the central square of Zengchong Village in Guizhou stands a special wooden tower lhe Zengchong DrumTower. Built in 1672, it is one of the oldest Dong drum towers in China. It shows the great building skills.(theDong people and is a key national cultural relic(文物).

The tower is 25 meters high with 13 layers of roofs. It is made only of wood in a special way. The wood is perfectly without any nails(钉子). Four large thick wooden pillars(柱子) inside form a strong center, and eight more outside form a ring. They connect tightly, making the tower very stable. The roofs are painted with colourful pictures of dragons, fish and other animals.

The tower is more than a beautiful building. On the first floor, there is a fire pit(火坑). People sit around it to keep warm, chat and have big meals. In the past, villagers held important meetings here. It is also a place for showing respect to their ancestors. High in the tower hangs a big drum. In the old days, people used different drum-beats to send messages.

This special structure is a folk building for the Dong people, serving as a place for discussing affairs in the communi-ty, welcoming guests, singing grand songs, and holding other important events. It is not only a living treasure of theDong people's building skills, but also one of the oldest existing drum towers in Dong villages all over China.

Today, the Zengchong Drum Tower is well protected. It stands for the wisdom and spirit of the Dong people. It is a living cultural treasure for us to value and protect.
