People, especially children, like comic strips in newspapers and magazines. Who is your favourite superhero? Spiderman? Wonder Woman? These heroes have been around for a long time. But comics came out even earlier. In ancient times, people made funny drawings of animals on paper.

Modern comic strips came out during the 1800s and their style has remained much the same. These comics are drawn in connected boxes. The boxes usually show an interesting story. Some comic strips are printed in newspapers. They often continue from day to day.Some people even read the comics before they read the front page.

Comic books first appeared during the 1930s. It seemed that everyone wanted to read them. People loved reading about the adventures of the Man of Steel and Batman. During the 1940s, the world was at war and some comic book characters, such as Captain America,reflected (反映) the times. Others, such as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, made people laugh during this terrible time in history.

After the war, people became less interested in old comic book characters, so new superheroes had to be made. The new superheroes, such as Fantastic Four, X-Men and Spiderman, talked and acted more like real people. As time went on, comic books had to compete with TV, because TV was offering people a lot of interesting things to watch.

Comic strips are usually good for a laugh. They take people away from their daily lives and into another world. In this world, the hero always wins, and failure only comes to the bad guys.

Everyone fails from time to time. We try to learn from our mistakes and move on, leaving them behind. But one museum is doing quite the opposite. It's a show case for failures, both famous and forgotten. Inspired (启发) by the Museum of Broken Relationships(失恋博物馆) in Croatia, Samuel West, a psychologist from Sweden, decided to make our silly mistakes public. He set up the Museum of Failure in 2017. The museum once held a show in Shanghai from January 8th to March 17th in 2019. The museum showed over 100"failed" products from big-name companies, such as Nike, Apple and Coca-Cola.

The famous German-American physicist Albert Einstein once said, "A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new." This idea has even been accepted by big companies in the US. Silicon Valley(硅谷) is the home of some of the world's most successful technology companies. A slogan (口号) of one company in Silicon Valley is"Fail fast, fail often". "The best companies are those that encourage failure, accept creative thinking and allow employees(雇员) to make mistakes and see what happens," wrote Simon Casuto of Forbes.

But some people doubt this so-called"culture of failure". "Sometimes people will hide behind failure instead of trying their best to avoid it," wrote Anna Isaac of The Telegraph.

So it's important that you divide failure into two kinds — the kind that shows laziness,and the kind that takes you forward. The key is whether you' ve learnt something from your mistakes.

An old carpenter (木匠) was ready to leave his job. He told his boss about his plans to leave the house-building business. He wanted to live a more comfortable life with his wife.The boss was sorry to see his best worker go. He asked the carpenter if he could build one last house for him.

The carpenter agreed. But it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. Soon the carpenter finished his work. The boss came to check the house, and then he handed the front door key to the carpenter. "This is your house — my gift to you," he said. What a shock! The carpenter couldn't believe his ears. Also, what a shame!

If he could build the house one more time, he would put his heart into it. Now he had to live in the house he built carelessly.

So it is with us. We build our lives in a careless way. Sometimes we do not give the job our best effort. Then we look at the situation and find that we are now living in the house we built. If we knew that, we would do it with all our heart.

Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Build it carefully. It is the only life that you will ever build.

Have you ever dreamt of travelling all the way over the rainbow? Well, it's easier than you think. All you need to do is book a plane ticket to Rainbow Mountain in Peru.

Rainbow Mountain, also known as the Mountain of Seven Colours, is a beautiful natural wonder. It lies in the Andes(安第斯山脉) in Cusco. As its name suggests, the mountain has different colours.

But why is it in yellow, green, red and purple? The reason is the ice that covered the area centuries ago. When it started to melt, the water mixed with the minerals (矿物质) in the ground and turned the earth into many colours.

If you plan your trip to the mountain, try to go during warmer months when there is less rain or snow. Rain or snow makes climbing more difficult and the colours will look duller(更暗淡). The best time starts in March and lasts for nine months, when there are blue skies and pleasant weather. At the same time, visit it either right after sunrise or right before sunset.

To get to Rainbow Mountain, you should first travel to Cusco. Then you can take a drive to Qesoyuno. From there you can start the journey on foot. It takes about a two-or-three-hour walk to the top. This is really the best way, but the trip is very challenging. Because the mountain sits at a very high altitude about 5,200 metres above sea level, so bring enough water and take your time.
