I'm Mother Earth, and I'm in big trouble. Long long ago, I was so beautiful. There are so many trees around me. Green forests covered me like a soft blanket (毯子). Clear rivers ran through me, shining under the warm sun. The sky was as blue as the clearest sea. Lots of plants and animals live happily on me. But now, everything has changed for the worse.

You cut down too many trees every day. Once full of life, the forests are now becoming empty. These forests are like my hair, and I'm losing them quickly. Factories are another big problem. They pour (倾倒) dirty water into my rivers without thinking. The rivers are now full of waste. And they let out harmful gases into the air. My breath, the air around you, is filled with (充满) pollution. Because of this, many animals and plants are losing their homes. Some are even dying out.

Dear humans, I really need your help. Please start protecting me now. Plant more trees. Each tree can make the air cleaner and help stop the land from becoming bare. ________. Turn off the tap (水龙头) when you brush your teeth or wash your hands. Use clean energy, like the power from the sun and wind. Also, divide your garbage (垃圾). She was born with vision (视力) problems in 1998 in a small village in Hebei. At the age of 12, she was noticed by a coach. Two years later, at the age of 14, Ma Jia joined the Hebei provincial para-swimming team. Ma Jia can't see well, but she loves swimming. When she was young, she started to train every day.
