    Sometimes, I doubt(怀疑) whether there is any love between my parents. Every day they are busy trying to 1 money. They don't act in the romantic(浪漫的) ways that I read in books or I see on TV. They never say, “I love you”. My father has a bad temper(性情, 脾气), and it is 2 for him to be angry in his daily life.

    One day, my mother was sewing a quilt (缝被子). I sat down beside her.

    “What?” she asked, still working.

    Once a king got two nice falcons(猎鹰)from his son. He had never seen such beautiful falcons before. He loved them so much and he ordered the best falconer to train them to fly.

    After several months, the king came to see how the training was going on. He found that one falcon had already been able to fly high in the sky, while the other was staying on the branch(树枝) of a tree quietly, just keeping still.

    The king called all his falcons together and ordered them to try every way they could to make the other falcon fly. But none of them succeeded. One day, while the king was taking a walk in the forest, an idea came to his mind. Maybe someone who knew the natural environment well could solve this problem. He sent for a farmer who lived in the forest into his palace to train it at once.

    The next morning, the king saw the other falcon flying above in the sky freely. “It is unbelievable !” shouted the king. How could you make it happen?”

    The farmer replied, “It's very easy. I just cut off the branch where the falcon rested.”

    It is always the same to human beings. We all have “two flying wings” in our hearts as well, but we often seem not to notice them and stay where we just for safety and comfort. We won't realize we can fly so high and freely until the “branch” we are resting on breaks.

    Happiness is for everyone. Maybe some people have beautiful houses with large gardens and big swimming pools. Some other people have nice cars and a lot of money. But you needn't care about that. Why? Because those are not real happiness.

    In fact, happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it. When you are in trouble at school, your friends will help you. When you study hard at your lessons, your parents will always take good care of your life and your health. When you get success, your friends will say congratulations to you. When you do something wrong, people around you will help you to correct it. And when you do something good to others, you will feel happy, too. All these are your happiness. If you notice them, you can find that happiness is always around you.

    Money is not equal to (等于) happiness. It is a feeling of your heart. When you are poor, you can also say you are very happy，because you have something else that you can't buy with money. When you meet with difficulties, you can say loudly you are very happy, because you have more chances to challenge (挑战) yourself. Life is like a revolving (旋转) door. When it closes, it also opens. If you take every chance you get, you can be a happy and lucky person.

    . And after singing along to the songs several times, all those phrases and expressions will become firmly fixed in your long-term memory. Then later you'll find that you use them naturally when you're speaking or writing.

    . For example, the song American Pie is about the 1959 plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the The Big Bapper, which was an important event in US history.

Dear Dennis,

    We just want to say thank you for having us before we caught the plane last week. It was a nice evening, and we enjoyed  Pete and Sarah. With your help we were able to get to the airport with plenty of time. We often tried to get an  flight than usual, but it wasn't possible.

    We had  holiday in Spain. We just loved driving  the countryside, and we often  to walk round a mountain village. We met  friends, Bill and Sue, and they invited us to have a meal with them. They wanted us to stay with them,  we couldn't, as we had already booked two  in a hotel.

    The weather was nice. There  so much beautiful sunshine all the time we were there. Leaving Spain was very sad. It made me want to cry.

    Anyway, we're looking forward to hearing from you, and hope to see you . Let me know if you're ever in the area. You must call in.
