Chinese New Year Events in 2025. 

Chinese New Year parade

One of (popular) activities of the Chinese New Year in London, 2025 was a Chinese New Year parade. And the parade lasted about one hour and forty-five minutes. (celebrate) the start of the Year of the Snake, celebrations continued during the day around Chinatown. People in Chinatown enjoyed watching lion dances  tasting delicious Chinese food. In Leicester Square, there were cultural workshops and family activities. 

Chinatown Lion Dances

People who were in Chinatown on Saturday, February 1st, the day before the big celebrations, enjoyed (they). Lion dances were held (successful) around London Chinatown as part of the New Year celebrations on that day. These took place during the day 11 a. m. to 5 p. m. 

Camden Chinese New Year Festival

Outside Chinatown, 2025 was the first year with  big celebration at Camden. Since the beginning of 2025, the Camden Chinese New Year Festival (become) a popular event outside Chinatown. Held on Saturday, February 1st, the event featured (以……为特色) a market, cultural performances and DIY workshops. Watching the (tradition) performances was really fun! Camden was full of (lantern), the Spring Festival couplets and many decorations (装饰) for the event. 

A few years ago, I had a wonderful Christmas experience that finally changed how I celebrated the festival. 

Before that Christmas, I was running around like a crazy person to prepare for the 1 . One day I took my three little kids to Walmart to buy the last things for the next day. I was terribly2 and kept thinking to myself, "What is the true meaning of Christmas?"

April 22nd every year marks the beginning of Earth Day. It started in 1970. It is now celebrated in more than 190 countries each year. It reminds people to save our planet. 

Leave your cars at home. Cars, the biggest cause of air pollution, can be left at home sometimes. Ride a bike or walk if your workplace is not far away from your home. 

Be a little dirty. We don't mean it" that"way.  A day or two without a bath won't be bad for you, but it will certainly do good to our planet. 

Volunteer yourself. This is one of the best things you can do. It will do you good too. You can plant trees, clean up a park or come up with ways to protect the Earth. 

Green-up your home.  However, this is not something you should do just for a day and for only an hour. Turn off all electrical devices（电器）when they are not in use. 

 Extend（扩展）your celebrations. That's right! Doing small things every day will make the planet a better place to live in. Always remember that every action counts. 

In early September a debate about pre-prepared food(预制菜) started in China. Luo Yonghao, a well-known entrepreneur, posted on social media that he felt uncomfortable" after dining at Xibei, a famous restaurant chain. He claimed almost all dishes there were prepared but overpriced, and called on the government to make laws forcing restaurants to state clearly if they use such food. 

Xibei quickly fought back. Its founder Jia Guong said none of Xibei's dishes were pre-prepared, adding Luo's words harmed the restaurant's reputation(声誉). Xibei even announced it would take legal action(法律行动) against Luo, and later opened its kitchens to the public to prove its dishes were fresh. Luo didn't give up, though-he offered a100, 000-yuan reward(悬赏) to collect evidence of Xibei using pre-prepared food. 

This debate pushed pre-prepared food into the spotlight and people began to discuss its pros and cons widely. On the positive side, pre-prepared food saves time for both restaurants and customers. Restaurant s can make more dishes in less time with pre-prepared ingredients(食材), which helps reduce waiting time for diners. For busy people at home, pre-prepared food also makes cooking easier-they just need to reheat it before eating. Besides pre-prepared food can cut food waste. Factories that make it usually control ingredient amounts strictly, so fewer materials are thrown away. 

However, pre-prepared food has its problems. Many people worry about its taste and nutrition(营养). Reheating may make the food less delicious, and some nutrients(营养素) might be lost during processing. There are also worried about food safety, if the pre-prepared food is not stored or transported properly, it could go bad and harm people's health. What's more, some restaurants use pre-prepared food but don't tell customers, which takes away people's right to choose. 

Now, more and more people hope there will be clearer standards(标准) for pre-prepared food, so that everyone can make wise choices. 

I had learned English for 11 years, but I knew few English idioms（习语）. When I went to study in America last year, I had trouble communicating with Americans at times.
