I'm Lucy, a middle school student. At school, we have nine subjects—math, English, Chinese, science, geography, history, art, PE and music. My mother is a Chinese teacher and she says Chinese is beautiful and important. I like Chinese. I also like history. It is my favorite subject. My history teacher Mr Brown is great fun.  Mr Green is my math teacher.  My science teacher, Mrs Smith, is nice. I listen to her carefully in class. But I can't do well in the science exam. I don't know why. This subject is really difficult for me. 

We always have art, PE or music in the afternoon.  In PE class, I like to play ping—pong with my PE teacher, Mrs Miller. She plays very well.

①Some people are good at making friends, but others are not. It might seem surprising, but in fact everyone can make friends. Here are some good tips to help you with it. 

②First, greet people with a smile. A smiling face makes others feel warm. Also, when you smile, others will smile at you. ▲

③Second, show interests in others. Stop talking about yourself and all your wonderful stories. Remember, try to make people feel good about themselves. Then they' re going to like you. 

④Third, find and speak the same language. Suzanne de Janasz, a professor（教授）from Seattle University, says that similar interests help us to make friends. Simple things like asking where someone is from can really help you to find something in common. And if all else fails（失 败）, you can start your conversation like: It's sunny today, isn't it? This is the most common topic people talk about in Britain. 

Everyone is happy on Saturday morning, but Tom isn't. "Too bad！ It's a nice Saturday morning but I must paint the fence（围栏）. After saying it, he starts to paint slowly. 

His friend Ben is walking in the street and he is eating an apple. He sees Tom and says, "Tom, I'm going swimming, but you can't come with me. You' re working. "

Tom says, "I like it！ I can go swimming every day, but I can't paint a fence every day. "

Tomatoes taste great and are good for your health. All tomatoes are first green. When they turn red (sometimes yellow or still green), they' re ready to pick and eat. 

Tomatoes first grew in the Americas over 1, 000 years ago. Later, explorers took them to Europe. People in Europe thought tomatoes were dangerous, so they did not eat them for many years. 

Tomatoes grow from seeds. They need water, sunlight and good soil（土壤）。 After people plant and water the seeds, the plants begin to grow. Then, sticks（棒条） are used to help the stems grow taller. After some time, flowers appear and turn into fruits. 

You can eat tomatoes in various ways. For example, you can wash and cut them up for salads or sandwiches. Tomatoes can also be cooked. They are used in food all around the world.
