Develop Better Relationships with Neighbours

Good neighbours are a lot like running water: we don't know how much we depend on them until we don't have them. They make our lives more pleasant. Here is how to develop your relationships with these very important people in your life. 

 Often neighbours don't even know each other's names. But it's OK to be the one to break the ice, even if you' ve lived next door for years. Most neighbours enjoy making small talk in the yard, smile, wave, and say hello. 

 Your new neighbours may be feeling lonely, especially if they' re far from home. If they have kids, tell them where the children in the neighbourhood live. Tell them the best places to eat and shop. Invite them over for coffee or tea, give them your number, and point to your house as you say goodbye. 

 Return anything that you borrow from a neighbour as soon as you' ve finished with them. Repair anything that belongs to ( 属 于 ) your neighbour that you, your children, or your pets break. Make sure that your car is not blocking(堵塞)their doorway. Remember, try not to trouble your neighbours. 

 If you value a friendship with your neighbours, spend time with them. Invite them to a party, or send invitations in person to everyone who lives on your street, and chat with each neighbour for five minutes before moving on to the next house. This way, you will get an idea of what your neigh-bours are like.

LiLi Time is a cafe in Shanghai, but it is a little bit different. Some customers do not go there to drink coffee. Instead, they want to enjoy the "special" service. 

In 2013, when Zhang Lili was working in her first cafe, a customer gave her a note. It read, "I'm deaf but I really love coffee. Would you give me the chance to learn how to make it?" And then this customer became the first deaf barista(咖啡师) in that cafe. And there started Zhang's story with the deaf community. 

Six years later, Zhang Lili and her husband started LiLi Time. Over the past few years, it has become a place filled with love. Some other cafes also have deaf baristas, but they use QR codes(二维码)to help with ordering. LiLi Time does not. People need to order their coffee by talking to its baristas, even though they speak slowly and sometimes do not speak clearly enough. But this is Zhang's plan. She wants deaf people to talk to others and be more confident. She doesn't sell coffee through delivery service (外卖服务), either. She wants real communication between her customers and her baristas. 

At the same time, LiLi Time provides a space for people to teach others skills, such as taking photos and learning English, French— all for free. They come here every week. Now, Zhang is thinking about opening a new cafe for children in need. 

Maria is a ten-year-old student. On school days, she gets up and gets (穿衣服) at six thirty. Then she brushes her(牙齿). After that, she eats breakfast with her parents. She doesn't have much for breakfast. She only has some bread and milk. After breakfast, her parents take her to school before they go to work. School (开始)at 9:00. She has three lessons in the morning and two lessons in the afternoon. At 4:30, all of her lessons (结束). Then she goes to her volleyball club at school. There she plays volleyball for one and a half(小时).

 Tim starts working at seven o' clock and drives trains on the London Underground. He usually works from Monday to Friday, but he sometimes works at weekends too. He eats sandwiches. After lunch he works till(直到) four o' clock and then he goes home. 

In the evening Tim watches TV with Betty and plays games with his baby son, Ben. At ten he goes to bed. He usually reads books for half an hour in bed.

①Peter is a middle school student. His daily routines are similar to his classmates'. But he has a helpful way to manage(管理) his time. It's the Pomodoro Technique(番茄工作法). Pomodoro means "tomato" in Italian(意大利语). 

②Peter tells us how to follow the way. It's very easy. First, think about what you need to do, like writing a story. Then, think about all the steps(步骤) of the work and write a to-do list(清单). When you are ready, set(设置) a timer for 25 minutes and start working on the first step. When the timer goes off, take a short break for 3 to 5 minutes. Then set the timer for another 25minutes and keep working. 

③Peter says it's not good to use a phone as a timer because it may distract(使分心) you. He uses his dad's kitchen timer when studying. 

④Peter thinks it works really well. It helps him finish homework more quickly, so he has more time to relax. 

The school show is very important to all of us.(每一个) of us can be in the big show. The teachers usually (教) us how to do well in the show. The parents can come to (看) the school show. They are very happy to see their(孩子) on the big stage. 

Some students can play musical (乐器) like the piano, the violin or the erhu in the show. Emma can play the (鼓) and Peter can dance. Some boys from the sports (俱乐部) can also do kung fu. They practise it for about two (小时) every day. My friend Teng Fei wants to show his painting (能力). Can he paint a beautiful picture in the show?(正是如此)!

The school show is a very happy time for the teachers, students and our families. 

In our school, there is an English club, a music club, a football club, a tennis club and many other clubs. The 1 club is the most popular(最受欢迎的) one. And I am in the club 2 tennis is my favourite sport. 

There are more than 80 members in the tennis 3 . About 50% of them are boys. There are 4 teams in the club— Red Team and Yellow Team. There is one 5 every week. Games make me 6 . 

Zhang Yue is an old member in the club. He is tall and looks very 7 . He is from Beijing. His parents are tennis players too.
