1、 根据短文内容,判断句子正误。
When people want to say something is very pleasant, they often say it's "as sweet as honey". Sugar didn't reach Europe until the twelfth century, so until then, honey was the only sweetener in the Western world. Honey is one of the most natural foods, and it doesn't easily go bad with age. Honey found in ancient tombs has been there for thousands of years, but still tastes good. This is because there are no chemicals (化学物质) in honey.
Honey is produced by a kind of insect called the honeybee. The honeybee is always busy. It visits hundreds of flowers in order to collect just one teaspoon of honey. For a pound of honey, the honeybee flies a very long way—three times the distance around the world and makes visits to about two million flowers. This unbelievable effort just shows how valuable every drop of honey truly is.
There are over 250 kinds of honey in the United States alone. Generally, the lighter the color of the honey is, the better the honey is. Very high-grade honey comes from certain flowers. Besides being a sweet food, honey is also used in many traditional medicines and beauty products.
Bears love honey as much as humans do. However, the bears in places like Alaska and some faraway parts of
Siberia can't find honey to eat, because it is too cold for the honeybee to live there.
Like the flowers that come out in spring, honey reminds us that sweet things in life are worth waiting for.
(1)、Before the twelfth century, sugar was popular in Europe.(2)、Ancient honey still tastes good because people add special things in it.(3)、The honeybee visits around two million flowers to collect one pound of honey.(4)、The color of the honey can tell us something about its weight and place.(5)、Honey cannot be found in Alaska because it is too cold for honeybees. -

Good news for train travelers! More than 8,000 high-speed trains across China provide quiet car services starting from Feb.1, 2026.
How can you choose a seat in the Quiet Car? It is very easy. When you buy your ticket on the 12306 website, look for trains that show the "Quiet Car" sign. You can then choose a seat in that special car.
There are some simple but important rules in the Quiet Car. You should talk very softly if you need to speak. You must turn off the sound on your phone, computer, or tablet. Also, please curb loud conversations. The goal is to make as little noise as possible.
One day in March, a young mother took her three-year-old kid on a train. She bought tickets in the Quiet Car. To keep her kid quiet, she gave him a cabbage and a big bag. The kid sat happily, pulling off cabbage leaves piece by piece and putting them into the bag. He stayed completely quiet for two hours. Other passengers smiled at the mother's smart idea. This story shows that with a little creativity, even kids can enjoy the Quiet Car.
However, the Quiet Car has some problems. For example, some passengers fall asleep and snore (打鼾) loudly. A man once reported this to 12306. The customer service replied, "Passengers don't snore on purpose. If troubled, first keep calm (冷静). Then tell the train staff at once. They will help you find another seat. If no seat is available, call us."
For your next trip, try the "Quiet Car". This simple choice can greatly improve your travel experience. Let's all follow the rules and enjoy quiet journeys together.

A toy named the "Crying Horse" has become a big hit across China. People found it strangely beautiful and the toy was seen as the first cultural "dark horse" of the New Year.
In January 2026, a person in Hangzhou bought a toy horse online and received one with a small mistake. Its mouth was made upside down, making it look like crying. Unlike traditional toys, which always wear happy smiles, this horse was clearly different. The person shared it online. Surprisingly, this mistake did not influence the toy's success. Instead, it became the toy's special magic. It created a new "sad-cute" style that felt more real and touching compared to the usual perfect toys.

Many people, especially young adults feel tired and face many challenges about the future. They find peace in the toy's gentle expression. The toy horse cuts down their worries. It is not just another toy on the shelf. It feels like a quiet understanding friend.
Facing the big hit, the factories in Yiwu took action at once. They caught the moment at high speed, offering more products nearly overnight. The factories are very busy because orders from many parts of the world are pouring in much faster than the workers can process them.

The World Games, organized by the International World Games Association, is a multisport event held every four years that mainly features non-Olympic sports. The World Games 2025 Chengdu(TWG 2025 Chengdu) just revealed the slogan"Boundless Sports, Countless Wonders"and the mascots(吉 祥 物 ) Shubao and Jinzai at a press conference in Beijing, China, as part of the one-year-to-go celebrations.
The Organizing Committee of TWG 2025 Chengdu received 3,749 slogans and 1,924 mascot creations from all over the world. After a detailed and careful review, the final slogan and mascots were selected. Official uniforms and goods have been designed based on the selections.
"The slogan vividly shows Chengdu's enthusiasm for sports and attitude toward life," introduced Xu Xingguo, Deputy Mayor of Chengdu Municipal People's Government and Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of TWG 2025 Chengdu.
The designs of the mascots are inspired by two rare animals found in Sichuan Province: the giant panda and the golden snub-nosed monkey. These mascots have been created to raise awareness about rare animals and biodiversity protection, being in line with TWG's commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
Local cultural elements have been skillfully combined into the mascots' designs, Xu added. Shubao, the giant panda mascot, features Chengdu's city flower, the hibiscus(芙蓉 花 ), in its inner ears, and Jinzai, the golden snub-nosed monkey mascot, has ears transformed from artifacts unearthed from the Sanxingdui site. Their clothes, made with Sichuan brocade(蜀锦), one of China's four famous brocades and a national intangible cultural heritage, depict clear waters and green mountains, and the cultural pattern on them shows the Sun and Immortal Birds Gold Ornament, a symbol of China's cultural heritage.
Scheduled to run from 7th to 17th August next year, the Chengdu World Games is expected to attract more than 4,000 athletes from around the world. Athletes will compete in 35 sports, which will include air sports, fistball(草 地 排 球 ), canoeing, karate and American football. These sports are fashionable, trendy and highly participatory, which perfectly meet the sports needs of modern urban people.

If you live in a city, you' ve probably noticed how noisy and crowded cities can be.
What if you could live next to a calm lake or the sea instead?
Researchers from the University of Exeter, the UK made a survey on 25,963 people.
They asked people questions about their health conditions, happiness, and lifestyles.
They found that people who lived close to the coast had better physical and mental health than people who lived inland(在内陆). The result showed that those who lived less than one kilometer from the coast were 22 percent less likely to show any signs of physical and mental health problems. And people who lived more than 50 kilometers from the coast were more likely to have physical and mental health problems. They also found people who visited the coast at least twice a week might experience better physical and mental health as well.
Why is it better to live at seaside? For one thing, water makes us feel close to nature. When we feel worried and anxious because of some difficulties in our life, getting close to nature can make us relaxed. Keeping relaxed is good for our physical health. For another thing, seaside environments usually have less pollution and more sunlight, both of which can lead to better mental and physical health.
There's also the air above the sea. After spending time near the ocean, you might find that you feel calmer than usual. This is because there are lots of negative ions(负离子)in the sea air. These ions balance(平衡)our levels of serotonin(血清素). We usually feel calmer and more relaxed with balanced serotonin levels.
Finally, people who live near water are more likely to do water sports like swimming and surfing. All water sports can help us stay in shape, which in turn keeps us healthy.

You' ve been learning words since you were a tiny baby. At first, you learned them only by hearing other people talk. Now that you' re a reader, you have another way to learn words. What should you do when you come to a word and you think you don't know what it means? Say it.
First, sound it out. Then say it to yourself. Sometimes you know a word in your head but you don't know what it looks like in print. So if you match up what you know and what you read——you have the word!
Use context.
If this doesn't work, take the next step: look at the context——the other words and sentences around it. Read this sentence. When it rained, the dog looked for shelter in the doorway. Rain and in the doorway might give you helpful information.
If the context doesn't help, look at the parts of the word. Does it have any parts you know? These can help you understand what it means. If you don't know the meaning of miner, try looking at parts of the word. You might know that a mine is a place underground where people get coal and other valuable things. A lot of times,-er at the end of a word means"a person who does something". So a miner might be someone who works in a mine.
Look it up.
If the three steps above don't work, you can look it up. Either a book or online.Nobody knows the meaning of every word, but good readers know how to understand words they don't know.
A. Use word parts.
B. Look at the words.
C. It might sound like a word you know.
D. You can find the word in a dictionary.

Researchers from the Yale Child Study Center collected 21 days of daily diaries from parents and teens from 151 families. Participating teens were in the 9th and 10th grades, from 13 to 16years old. The San Fermin Festival, internationally known as the"Running of the Bulls", is by far Spain's biggest international party. Millions of visitors journey to Pamplona, Spain annually to attend this amazing festival. It occurs every July 6th—14th, during which different events are held each day, including bullruns, bullfights, parades, and firework shows.
The festival is held to honor San Fermin, the patron saint(守护圣人) of Pamplona. It's a mystery where and how he died, but the citizens believe he died as a result of being pulled through the streets by bulls. This is why citizens take part in the running of the bulls, even though a majority of the runners are tourists who seldom know about San Fermin.
The festival starts with a rocket blast at noon on July 6th. The party atmosphere in the town is incredible, with everyone wearing the traditional San Fermin clothing:a white T-shirt and a red handkerchief around the neck. Although there are many activities and events throughout the festival, the famous running of the bulls is the main part. Actually, the festival was just a traditional festival like those in every little town and city in Spain. It would have stayed that way if not for Ernest Hemingway, who wrote about the running of the bulls in his novel The Sun Also Rises.
Every morning at 8 am from July 7th to 14th during the festival, the runners are chased by six bulls and six steers throughout the streets of Pamplona for about 850 meters until reaching the city's bullring, where bullfights take place.
At 8 o' clock, the first of four fireworks is launched, indicating that the corral(畜栏) door is opened. It's time for the runners to start running. The second firework explosion indicates that all the bulls have left the corral. Once all the bulls have reached the bullring and the door of the bullring is closed, the third firework is launched. The final firework indicates that all the bulls are locked at the bullring's corral. Once in a while, however, the herd of bulls separates, making it even more dangerous. That is why the four firework rockets are so important.
On the night of July 14th, as midnight gets closer, people start to gather in the square in front of the town hall, singing a traditional farewell song.
