Last week, our family arrived in Singapore. We were all excited  this trip. I heard that Singapore is one of the most beautiful and cleanest  (country) in Asia. I hoped that I would have unforgettable time there. In fact, the trip was greater than my expectation.

Many places in Singapore attracted us. First, we  (visit) Singapore Zoo. It was very large, and many animals live there. We spent a whole day  (watch) all the animals.The most interesting event was the Bird Show. We enjoyed (us)a lot. The workers trained the birds (care) so that they could dance, sing, and even play basketball.

Second, after a week's visit to some tourist spots in Singapore, we decided (join)a short-term English course. All students there had to speak English during the lessons because English was the only common language in this class, we improved our English quickly.

The trip to Singapore was a nice experience in my life. During the trip,I learned much about another country's lifestyle, other people's thoughts, and I improved my English. Tomorrow, we will go back home. Right now,I (pack) my suitcase and making sure I have everything ready for tomorrow's journey.

Auggie was born with a different face, so he didn't go to school for many years. There, he learns what it means to be"normal." He also knows that being different can teach important life lessons.

Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson

 The author shares her story of growing up as an African-American girl in the southern U.S. during the 1960s and 1970s. The poems focus on understanding yourself better.

This book gives helpful advice for teenagers who are starting a new stage of life. 

Young corn leaves can" smell" danger, but they lose this ability as they grow older, according to a new research by Lei Wang and his team at the University of Bern.

Plants can sense danger through smells, even though they don't have noses. They can smell insect saliva (唾液). For example, when an insect eats corn leaves, the plant can smell the insect's saliva and prepare to protect itself. Scientists have known this for a long time, but they didn't know which parts of plants sense danger or how they do it.

Wang's team first studied adult corn leaves but found they didn't produce many defense chemicals(防御化学物质) when in danger. So they had to turn over a new leaf. They studied young leaves instead, because they were better at" smelling" danger.In lab tests, young leaves produces more defense chemicals than adult leaves. However, adult leaves could still notice other dangers, like insects eating them.

The researchers think young leaves are better at sensing danger because they are weaker and are at the top of the plant. From there, they can smell things from far away. This helps the plant get an early warning.

Wang hopes this research will help develop smarter crops that can fight insects, cutting down the need for harmful pesticides(杀虫剂). By doing this research, he wants to help solve big farming problems.

The cartoon film Inside Out 2 has become a big success,reaching over $1 billion worldwide. This fun next part of the story continues to follow Riley, who is now a teenager. Directed by Kelsey Mann, the film explores teenage feelings in a warm and friendly way, just like the first movie from 2015.

The success of Inside Out 2 comes from its deep connection to the first movie, which touched viewers of all ages. Building on old feeling characters like Joy and Sadness, the next part adds new ones such as Anxiety(焦焦) and Embarrassment(尬尬).

Christie Rizzo, a psychology(心 理学) teacher, says that people who help kids with their mind health use the movie to help children understand their feelings. She says it also helps families and school workers talk about feelings more easily. "It's much easier when they can see it happen in the movie," Rizzo says.

Rizzo also says that even if kids don't think the movie is educational, it still teaches important lessons about feelings through its story. The way the movie mixes fun with learning about feelings has made it a favorite among both children and adults.

Last summer,I got the chance to spend a month helping out in a hospital in Rwanda(卢旺达)with my parents. They work for a charity(慈善机构). I was interested in studying medicine in the future, so I decided to help in a hospital there for a month. I wanted to see if being a doctor was right for me.

That month changed my life. Rwanda was very different from the UK. People there had difficult lives, but they were always kind and helped each other. They smiled a lot and shared food. I learned that we in the UK sometimes forgot how lucky we were.

In the hospital, my job was hard. I cleaned floors and changed beds every day. Sometimes,I talked to the patients and played games with them. I also asked the doctors about their work. They told me, "Our job is tiring. We work long hours and see sad things. But we love it because we can help our community." Their words made me want to be a doctor even more.

Now,I have a clear dream. When I finish school,I want to join groups like the Red Cross or Médecins Sans Frontières (a group that helps sick people in many countries). I want to spend my life helping people who really need it. I can't wait to get started!

Ms. Li usually took the last bus, route 786, after work. She 1 working at 22:50,and the bus arrived at 22:53. This left her only three minutes to walk from her 2 to the bus stop, about a two-minute walk.
