There was a small town. The people there always helped each other. One day, a big fire broke out in a house. The fire was very big and it was difficult to put it out.

All the neighbors came to help. Some people called the fire department, and others tried to get water to put out the fire. The young men helped to carry the things out of the burning house. The old people and children provided food and drinks for those who were fighting the fire.

Thanks to everyone's help, the fire was finally put out. The owner of the house was very grateful. He said he was really lucky to live in such a warm  hearted community.

The Smiths are a host family. They often invite international students to live with them. This year, a boy named Li Hua from China came to live with them.

When Li Hua first arrived, the Smiths made him feel at home. Mrs. Smith cooked delicious food for him, and Mr. Smith showed him around the house. Their daughter, Lucy, also became Li Hua's good friend. They often chatted about their hobbies. Li Hua liked reading Chinese novels, and Lucy was interested in Chinese history, so Li Hua told her a lot of stories about Chinese history.

On weekends, the Smiths usually have a family activity. Sometimes they go to the park for a picnic, and sometimes they have a party at home. Li Hua always joins in these activities. He really enjoys his life with the Smiths.

Last winter, it snowed heavily in our city. After the snowstorm, the whole city was covered with snow.

Many people came out to clear the snow. Some used shovels (铲子) to move the snow away from the roads, and others used brooms (扫帚) to sweep the snow on the sidewalks. The traffic policemen were also very busy. They were trying their best to keep the traffic in order.

Our school organized a volunteer activity. We students took part in it. We went to the streets near our school to help clear the snow. It was really cold, but we worked hard. Some of us even helped the old people cross the streets safely.

Thanks to everyone's efforts, the snow was cleared quickly. The roads became clean and safe again. We were all very tired, but we felt happy because we could help make our city better.

I had a great weekend. I became a volunteer at our local community center. I got up early on Saturday morning and went there by bike.

When I arrived, there were already many other volunteers. We first had a short meeting. Then, we started to clean up the center. We swept the floors, cleaned the windows and took out the trash. After that, we helped the old people who lived nearby. Some of us read books to them, and some chatted with them. They told us a lot of interesting stories about the past.

In the afternoon, we organized a community party. We invited all the people in the neighborhood. Some volunteers sang and danced, and others played games with the kids. Everyone had a great time.

Last weekend, I took part in a volunteer activity. I went to a small village with some other 1 . When we arrived, the villagers gave us a warm welcome.

First, we helped them 2 their houses. Some of us cleaned the rooms, and others 3 the broken things. Then, we 4 a party for them. We sang, danced and 5 jokes. The villagers also 6 us some delicious food.

In the afternoon, we 7 to plant trees. We worked hard and planted about 100 trees. The villagers said the trees would make their village more beautiful.
