Once there was a poor little girl living near a forest. She had no family so she often felt sad.

How to get over difficulty

In our daily life, we often meet with different kinds of difficulties.

Tian Ji was a general in the State of Qi. At that time, horse racing was a fascinating activity among the Chinese upper class. Both Tian Ji and the king of Qi were fans, but Tian Ji often lost (race) against the king. One day, Tian Ji lost again and went back home, (feel) down. Sun Bin who happened to visit him, said that he could help.

In the next race, Sun Bin carefully watched the horses and noticed they (divide) into three groups: regular, plus and super. The races were held in three rounds, one group for one round. The king's horses won, but they actually were just a little (good) than Tian Ji's.

Sun Bin advised Tian Ji to ask the king (take) part in another race. He came up with  plan that Tian Ji used his regular horse to compete against the king's super horse, his plus horse against the king's regular horse, and his super horse against the king's plus horse. Tian ji would lose the first round but win the next two.

The plan worked (perfect), and Tian Ji won in the end. The king was so surprised at his failure  he asked Tian Ji how he trained the horses so well. Tian Ji happily told him Sun Bin's plan. The king was (please) and asked Sun Bin to work as the strategic adviser(战略顾问) for General Tian Ji.  Sun Bin's help, the Qi army won many battles after that.

Many Chinese people these days leave their hometowns to work in the cities. They usually  to their hometowns once or twice a year. Zhong Wei hasn't been back for nearly three years. He has worked in a factory in Wenzhou for 13 years.  it is only about ten hours' coach ride, he is just too busy to go back.

People like him  how their hometowns are changing. New buildings are often  by the government. Zhong Wei thinks these changes are good because things needs to change in order to become better. But he also thinks some things will never change, and that his hometown is still the place that holds all his soft and sweet .

At the 9^th Asian Winter Games, Chinese sports player Li Fanghui won China's first gold medal in the 1 halfpipe event (U型池赛事). Shortly after her success, Li won 2 gold at the FIS Freeski World Cup in Canada on February 16.

Second, think about how you can help others.  Nurses look after sick people. Cleaners make our cities tidy. Teachers help children learn and grow. Every job can help people in some way.

Third, remember that no job is small. Every kind of work has its own value. When you do your job well, you are making the world better. 

Finally, keep learning and improving. Working hard is the key to success. If you keep trying your best, you will become better and happier in your job.

Man Lichu couldn't believe his eyes when he walked into Zhang's Garden. This place was once his home. Now it looks "completely different", he said.

Many others once called Zhang's Garden home, too. It was once a residential area(居民区). After years of redevelopment, it now stands as a commercial and cultural landmark. Visitors arrive in large numbers. Many are surprised to see the 143-year-old historical doors and windows.

Zhang's Garden is widely praised as the "Best Garden in Shanghai". There are many shikume(石库门) houses. Some buildings mix the best of Chinese and Western designs. Take the W12 building for example. Its baroque style(巴洛克风格) catches the eye and is beautifully carved（雕刻）wooden decorations stand out as well.

Zhang's Garden witnessed Shanghai's development. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, great minds like Sun Yat-sen（孙中山) often gave speeches there. It was also the birthplace of bikes and electric lamps in Shanghai.

Things changed around the middle of last century. Many factories were built nearby after the 1950s. Over time, Zhang's Garden became more and more crowded. Mr. Man used to live in an 18-square-metre apartment with six family members.

In late 2018, Shanghai started to redevelop Zhang's Garden. Chu Feng was one of the project managers. "There are a total of 42 buildings with 2,053 rooms," he said. "It's not easy to fix them up while keeping their historical charm."

Chu's team went to great lengths to gather historical information about the buildings. It took them three years to collect old photos and architectural plans. Their document on the W12 building was more than 400 pages long. Another challenge was to add modern equipment like security cameras. This had to be done without damaging the buildings' quaint appearance(古色古香的外观).

After a lot of hard work, the western part of Zhang's Garden opened to the public at the end of 2022. Work on the larger eastern part is still going on. The project is expected to be completed by 2027. The "Best Garden in Shanghai" will then be ready to amaze even more visitors.

In December, 2025, a terrible tsunami hit Japan. There was a huge earthquake under the sea. Huge waves rushed towards the land. They caused serious damage(损害), and many families lost their homes.

Japan is not the only country that has experienced a large tsunami. In 2004, there was a big earthquake under the Indian Ocean. The tsunami reached many countries, such as Thailand, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

In Sri Lanka, something interesting happened before the tsunami arrived. Just before the big waves came, many animals started to run away. Elephants were very nervous and tried to get far from the sea. Flamingos flew off together and left the area. But the tsunami was a big shock to humans — no one knew it was coming. So how did the animals know about it earlier than people did?

In Japan, some people are trying a new animal warning system(系统). Many believe that animals, such as dogs or chickens, become nervous before an earthquake. In Susaki, a small town in Japan, people check how their pets behave. If they notice that their cat or dog looks worried, they can call a special phone number.

Can animals really predict(预测) earthquakes and other natural disasters? Can they save lives? No one really knows. But perhaps animals know more than we do.

Did you watch the 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala? A robot show called "WuBOT" became a hot topic on the internet. It was really amazing!

The robots were made by a Chinese company named Unitree. On the big stage, many humanoid robots performed Chinese kung fu with young martial arts actors. The robots could do many difficult moves. They did backflips, ran and jumped over tables, and even used nunchucks and swords! They moved just like real kung fu masters.

What's more, all the robots worked together as a team. They didn't need people to control them from far away. Each robot used its own "eyes" — a 3D laser radar (激光雷达) — to know where it was on the stage. If a robot went a little wrong, it could fix itself and get back to the right place.

The performance was not only fun to watch but also showed how fast China's robot technology is growing. Many people around the world were surprised. Some even joked to Elon Musk, "Your robots need to work harder!"

From dancing with handkerchiefs in 2025 to showing real kung fu in 2026, robots are getting smarter and stronger every year. We are sure they will come to our family in the near future!
