My family had never done anything different before.So when Aunt Jen invited us to her yearly spring farm party,I was really 1 .I decided to make the day special,so I baked cupcakes for the party and decorated them to look like soft sheep by using some 2 .

Jan gets dressed, puts on her anorak and goes downstairs quietly, trying not to wake Tom's parents. She meets Tom outside. 

"What are you doing, Tom?"

"The storm, " he says. "It's the same storm as Thursday night. Let's go to the tree. Maybe you can go home!"

Jan follows Tom down the road then she remembers something. 

"The time capsule!"

Tom shows her the biscuit tin under his jacket. "I've got it. "

Finally, they arrived at the piece of land with the apple tree. 

"Now what do we do?" asks Jan. 

"I put the time capsule back where I found it and you go home. "

Jan suddenly realizes something. 

"Tom, I wanted to give you something from the time capsule. "

"No, it's OK. I don't want anything. It's more important for you to go home. "

Jan feels disappointed (失望的) that Tom doesn't want anything to remember her. But he's right. The important thing is to get home. 

"I'm never going to forget you, Tom. Thanks. You're a real friend. "

"Bye, Jan. Look for me in the future. Promise (承诺)?"

"I promise. "

The book Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is a classic science fiction adventure novel by the French writer Jules Verne. Verne was a son of a lawyer. However, he decided to be a writer i of a lawyer. He liked sailing and the sea. He also liked travelling around the world. He and his wife s much time sailing on his ship. They sailed to many places and had adventures. Later, all of these were written i books. The book Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is about Captain Nemo and his submarine (潜艇)—a kind of vessel that travels under w. His submarine is called Nautilus. Submarines are common today, but Verne wrote about this submarine many years b they appeared! Some of Verne's ideas came true in history. 

The story starts in New York City and takes the readers to many d places. Verne describes some real places like the Mediterranean Sea, the South Pole and the Antarctic. But the story a talks about visits to some fictional locations like Atlantis, an underwater city. Many people think the title Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea means h deep the submarine travels under the water. However, the submarine never travels over a few leagues below the water. In fact, the title refers to the distance which Captain Nemo and his submarine travel during the course of the book. The book is f of mysteries and magic things under water. It has been t into many different languages and sells well. 

Why not read the novel during the coming holiday?

Do you know Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone? It is one of the most famous  for almost all the children in the world. 

The idea for the book came to J. K. Rowling in 1990. It took  seven years to finish writing it. She did many kinds of jobs during those years. For example, she worked as an English  at school in Portugal. She was busy with her work, but she didn't  writing at the same time. Rowling  the book to four publishers (出版商) and the last one bought it. She was very excited to sell her book  her dream was to be a writer. She was very poor before she sold her book. She even didn't have  money to pay for the food. 

After the book Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone came out, it  children's favorite book in England and then around the world. It was too popular, so the readers couldn't buy one  It was the first book in the Harry Potter series (系列). Later, she wrote another six works about Harry Potter and they also became  popular. 

Rowling is very happy with her success. She says she will keep writing children's books. 

I never enjoyed reading science fiction until one day a friend of mine passed me The Three-Body Problem. I fell in love with the book from the very beginning.  I finished it in only a few days!

 It jumps between history and present. This story-telling style really interested me. There are aliens in it, but the subject of this story is life on Earth and how humans are destroying (毁坏) the planet and working together to fight with aliens. 

The Three-Body Problem has been made into a TV series (电视连续剧). At first, I didn't like this idea. Books often lose a lot of their value when they are made into TV series. Books are slow.  But TV moves much faster. Young people are often more interested in what they see on their screens than in the stories. 

However, some of you may be too young to fully understand books like The Three-Body Problem.  Besides, TV series can also help you read more widely. But once you really fall in love with reading, you will realize that a good book may be much better than a TV series. 

It was a sunny sky after the typhoon (台风) passed and some people found a very large hole next to their village. 

All of the villagers came out to see the hole. They looked inside, but it was dark and nobody could see anything. What happened? Was it a fox hole?

A young man was so surprised that he shouted at the hole, "Hey, come out!" However, only his voice came back from the hole. Then, he picked up a small rock (岩石) and threw it down the hole. But, still, nothing came out. 

To find out the fact of the hole, the villagers asked a scholar (学者) for help. After looking over the hole, he found nothing, but he tried to look confident, and said for sure, "It's no problem to fill(填充) it up!"

Seeing this, a businessman came up and offered to buy the hole with lots of money. Later, he built up a company called "Hole-Filling Company". He told everyone the company could hold any litter but they had to pay for it. 

From then on, more and more people came here to put their litter into the hole:

Hospitals got here to throw the dead people. 

The government put all the dirty water into the hole. 

…. 

Slowly, the sea and sky became beautifully blue. Under this clear sky, more and more buildings were built up. 

One day, a worker was working on the top of a tall building. Looking at the blue sky, clear water and green plants, he was happy that the city was getting more and more beautiful. 

Suddenly, he heard a strange shout above his head, "Hey, come out!"

However, when he looked up, he found nothing. When he sat down for a rest, a rock flew down in front of him from the direction (方向) of the strange shout. He picked it up and wanted to know why it came from the sky. 

Of course, he didn't know anything about the rock. Only the young man in the village could know that: it was the same rock that he threw into the hole. 

Several days later, the sky was not as beautifully blue as before. More and more litter fell down from the sky — dead people, dirty water….

As the house shook from the falling asteroids (小行星), Arthur's heart beat very fast. The asteroids weren't just rocks; they seemed to move around in space like they had a plan, like they were looking for something. The strange light from the asteroids made the house seem even more scary. 

Suddenly, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy said in a calm voice, "Trust the house, Arthur. It can handle this. " Those words made Arthur feel a little better. He closed his eyes and listened to the voice, which helped calm him down. 

When he opened his eyes, he saw the house move very skillfully between the asteroids. It almost seemed like it was dancing between them. The outside of the house changed shape, like it could see where the asteroids were going and move to avoid them. 

At one point, an asteroid came so close that Arthur could feel its heat. But just before it hit, the house moved quickly and missed it by just a little bit. Arthur held his breath, afraid to move, as the asteroid flew away into space. 

When the asteroids finally stopped coming, Arthur felt relieved (宽慰). He let out a big breath and leaned back against the wall. He was amazed by how the house had saved him and felt lucky to have had such an exciting experience. 

From then on, Arthur was more curious and braver about exploring space. He knew there were many amazing things out there, but also some dangers. But he was ready to face them, knowing that he had the tools and courage to do so. He looked forward to more exciting adventures in the vast universe.

In 2075, fifteen-year-old Alex lives in a floating (漂浮的) city on the ocean that runs on clean energy. Robots do most housework, but school is still full of learning. 

One sunny morning, Alex's teacher gives some special homework, "Design something that can make the world a better place. " His classmates are quickly coming up with exciting ideas— flying gardens, river-cleaning drones (无人机) , and food printers (打印机). Alex, however, wants to make something small but meaningful.

Months later, a technology company (公司) makes Alex's idea real. They send him a message, "Your kindness inspires us. Thank you. "

That day, Alex understands— no matter how technology develops, love and care always matter most. Machines can build cities, but only people can build connections. 

Three friends—Mia, Alex, and Lily—received an invitation to a time travel experiment in a science lab (实验室). They went there with curiosity. After knowing what they would do, they started their journey with a mix of excitement and worry.

With the map, Oliver and his father found lots of gold and silver for their village. Everyone was happy. The friends felt a sense of pride to help people in the past. They realized the past and future are connected—understanding the past was key to a better future. 

"What an experience! I couldn't believe we actually did it!" said Lily on the way back to the lab. They were grateful for the chance to explore the wonders of time. They discovered the power of curiosity, teamwork and friendship. They knew this was only the start. With hope and excitement, the young time travelers were ready for new adventures. 

If you had to save Earth from aliens (外星人), would it be the same as what people do in the books or films? That was the question that provided ideas for Craig McCracken's new science 1 Kid Cosmic. 

Kid Cosmic is the story of Kid, a nine-year-old boy who lives 2 his grandpa in a small town in a US desert. He dreams of being a superhero. One day, he finds a spaceship in the 3 . Inside, there are five stones full of different powers (能量). The problem for Kid is that the stones are so 4 that everyone, good or bad, wants them. Soon, aliens start landing on Earth looking for the stones.
