Recently, my daughter reminded me of someone we saw at the train station a few years ago. 

That day, my daughter and I were waiting for our train. We went to buy some drinks, and then we saw the old man. Dressed poorly, he was standing in front of the counter(柜 台 )while counting coins slowly to buy just one bottle of water. The businessman behind him said impatiently, "Hey!Can't you be quick?Some of us have a train to catch!"Hearing this, the old man seemed to be very embarrassed, so he walked away quietly at once. 

It was my turn. I bought us two drinks and the old man's water as well. We walked up to him and gave him the water with a smile. After walking away, my daughter complained, "Dad, the old man is so impolite. He didn't even say 'thank you'to us!"I told her that we did this not to get a "thank you"from other people. We just wanted to be nice. 

Now, my daughter always reaches out to help people. She waves, makes eye contact and says "hi"to people on the street. She holds doors for people. She scoops up things that other people drop. 

When I mentioned this recently, she seemed surprised. I asked her why she was so kind all the time. She said, "Because it is just right to be that way. "Then she added, "And because I see you do that all the time. "

It was Dad's birthday. Without enough money for a gift, Manuel decided to make a  1  . Because Manuel had never cooked before, he found a cookbook and prepared some flour( 面粉), eggs, butter and milk. 

"What  are  you  doing?"asked  Manuel's  sister, Maria. "Making  a  birthday  cake  for Dad, "he   answered. 

"Can I help?"she asked. 

"No, I've got this. "Manuel turned to the cookbook. He followed it 2 but cracked (打碎)an egg. "Yeah, you've got this. "Maria said as she left. 

Then, a soft voice came. "Can I help?"Rosie asked with  3  eyes. 

"Thanks, Rosie, but you're too little, "Manuel said. As Rosie began to cry, he had no choice but to  4  

He returned to work and didn't see Rosie holding a stick of butter. When Manuel looked up, he found Rosie spread the butter all over her face. 

"Listen, Rosie. "Manuel said. "I need your  5 . We are a team now. "

Manuel started making the cake again. He opened a bottle of milk and poured the flour into the bowl. He didn't  6  Rosie was trying to get the milk. It was knocked over and was everywhere on the floor. 

"Rosie!"he said. "That's not what I want!Stop. 7 now!"

"Hey, big brother, "said Maria smiling as she came from the doorway. "You've still got this?"

"I might have finished the work if Rosie wasn't here, "said Manuel.

Later, with  their  effort, soon the batter (面糊)was ready, and Manuel put it in the oven ( 烤箱). Ding!The kids crowded around as Manuel pulled the cake out. It looked9  with  a  sweet  smell. "We've  got  this. It  must be tasty. "said Maria. 

The kids were so happy when their dad returned. 

"Happy Birthday, Dad!"

"Wow!"Dad said. "What a surprise!How did you make it?"

"It wasn't easy, but we worked   10 . "answered the kids proudly. 

This picture is drawn by my brother Eric.It is so colorful.It's a  (sun)  day.There are some tall buildings which are all different colors and shapes.In the backyard, the grass is bright green and there's a path going up to buildings.

There are so many details in Eric's picture,too.On the left,there's a multi-colored cat  with pointy ears.  the middle,there's a small blue cat.Above the cats, there's a butterfly,flying around in the sunshine.Can you see the colored spots on (it)wings?I like the purple cat  (good)of all.It looks a bit like a castlel

I love this picture I can see different things every time.At first,I thought there were only buildings in the background,but then I (notice) the butterfly!Eric has so much (imagine).Look at the right of the picture. What do you think the dark red outline shows?It isn't very clear,but sometimes I see a large bird with light blue wings,and other times I think it could be a streetlight.This happens a lot in Eric's picture.It's (true)fun!It makes me think of a story I read once about a magic town,where everyone has adventures.The picture is bright and cheerful and it makes  (I)feel happy.

A low-budget film Dear You(《给阿嬷的情书》)has become a surprise hit during the May Day holiday,

2026.It tells the story of Ye Shurou,a grandmother from Chaoshan who waited for her husband Zheng Musheng for many years.   .Finally,he finds the hidden story of Xie Nanzhi,a Thai woman of Chaoshan family background.

 .Xie Nanzhi was Zheng Musheng's sworm sister ( 结拜姐妹).She sent money and wrote letters in Zheng's name for 18 years after his death,quietly taking care of Ye Shurou from afar.Years later,Xie's adopted son( 养子)reads those letters to Grandma  Ye,telling a long-hidden story.

The film got a high score of 9.0 out of 10 on Douban.  .Unlike big action or comedy movies,it uses a simple and honest style.It shows the real lives of common people during waves of moving to other countries.

The director Lan Hongchun is from Chaoshan.He says the story is 90%real and 100%honest.    .He says that long ago,many families hid the news of a loved one's death and kept sending money and letters as if the person were still alive. "In the childhood memories of Chaoshan people,Grandma is always the warmest person," he says.

Anger often makes us uncomfortable.Seeing your child's anger can be especially uncomfortable.In order to relieve(缓解)this feeling,parents often encourage children to "stop crying"and say things like "It's nothing to cry about."It's moments like those that plant the seeds of unhealthy anger.The"stop crying"parents are just doing what they were taught by their own parents,who were probably taught that by their parents on and on. However,we should learn how to create healthy anger in our kids.

If a child never sees his or her parents express anger,he or she may never express anger,either.But if parents always express their anger loudly,their child may start to think of anger as something that is always frightening.The first thing you can do to create healthy anger in your children is to practice creating healthy anger in yourself.Once you're better at experiencing anger and expressing it in a healthy way,you'llbe able to set a good example for your kids.

Stopping kids from expressing their feelings is wrong.You may feel bad when you believe you are wrong.When children express their feelings and are told that it's nothing to cry about,they come to know that they themselves are bad.

We need to raise them in an environment where it's safe to express feelings.Once you feel more comfortable with your own anger,you can teach your children why anger is a helpful feeling.When your kids express anger,help them examine what it is that has made them angry.Why did it make them angry?How did it do that?Then,you can teach them that those feelings are never wrong and our expressions of feelings are in our control.

Anger is natural and normal,and it can be experienced and expressed in a healthy way.

    Jenny was a student in my class.She lived in a happy family.She had three sisters and

    she was the youngest.     She seemed to be glued(粘合)to her mother's skirts. Her three older sisters took the bus to school every morning,but she was always driven to school by her mother.

During the Three Kingdoms period, there was a wise man named Zhuge Liang. He was good at solving difficult (problem) in smart ways. The famous"Empty City Strategy"is a perfect example of this.

One day, Zhuge Liang found (he) in an awful situation. Sima Yi's army was reported getting closer, but Zhuge's reinforcements (援兵) were still far away.

Zhuge Liang soon had  idea. He led his soldiers to West City. Zhuge Liang ordered them to open all the city gates and asked them to sweep the streets. fact, hardly any soldiers remained to defend (保卫) the city. The soldiers couldn't understand his order, Zhuge told them not to worry. Zhuge himself went up onto the city wall and (sit) there playing his guqin calmly.

When Sima Yi's army arrived, they saw the open gates, empty streets, and only a few old soldiers who were cleaning the streets. They were (doubt) and dared not (不敢) enter the city. They quickly reported this to Sima Yi. Sima Yi rode forward (see) for himself. After seeing the scene, he concluded (断定) that it was a trick since Zhuge was always careful and never took risks (easy). So, Sima Yi's army camped miles away outside West City.

Later, General Zhao Yun led reinforcements back to West City. Zhuge Liang ordered Zhao to attack the enemy, and he went back to his state safely. Later, Sima Yi (tell)by his men that West City was empty. When he headed towards West City for the second time, he met Zhao Yun and the reinforcements. When he finally found out what had happened, he realized he had been fooled and left that area.
