Some medicines and body parts for sick people need to stay cold. This salt fridge can keep them cold well. The students hope it helps make health services better in small towns and villages.

How does salt cool things? When a salt (not the salt we use for cooking) mixes with water and becomes part of the water, it takes heat from the water, so the water gets cool.

After trying different salts, they chose a salt called NH₄Cl. When this salt mixes with water, it can make the water cool to 2-6℃. That's just right for keeping medicine cold. If people need even colder temperatures, they can add another kind of salt. Then the water can get colder than 0℃ for other uses. The students hope it helps rural hospitals. In these places, there is often no steady (稳定的) electricity for fridges.

With this simple but smart idea the students show that science can solve real-life problems and bring hope to people in need.

What is adolescence (青春期)? When does it start? It starts when you are aged between about ten and thirteen. Here are some changes about you during adolescence. You may not want to spend as much time with your parents as you used to. You want to do more things on your own. In the past, your parents made decisions for you. However, now you want to decide things for yourself and don't want to be told what to do. 

All these changes are completely normal, but they will influence your relationship with your parents. So what can you do to make it better?

Firstly, your parents will feel much better if you let them know that you still love them. Remember that they don't have the small child you used to be. They may not say so, but they probably feel like something is missing. So try to show your love to them from time to time. 

Secondly, try to agree to rules. You may feel these rules are not necessary, but your parents just want to make sure you stay safe. Once you agree with the rules, try to follow them. 

Thirdly, try to understand why they feel upset about your behaviour (行为). Do your parents get cross if you spend three hours talking with friends and leave your homework till the last minute? That's probably because they want you to do well at school. 

Finally, it's all about communication! Keep talking to your parents, tell them about what you did today, let them know where you are going, and ask for advice if you need.

The pyramids were built for the kings of Egypt and other very important people. They believed their bodies would be well kept in the pyramids. No one really knows why the pyramids were designed in this shape. Some people think the pyramids were built to point towards the sun and stars, so that the dead person's spirit could fly to heaven like a rocket.

The Pyramid of Khufu is the biggest of all the pyramids. It is about 137 metres high. It is made of about 2,300,000 huge stones. Most of them are higher than a man and weigh about two and a half tons each. Some weigh as much as fifteen tons. It took more than 100,000 men twenty years to build the Pyramid of Khufu.

It's still a mystery (谜团) how the pyramids were built so long ago. Each stone fits so well. Did they have any machines? How did they cut carry and lift the huge stones? How did they make them all in the same shape? Scientists have studied the pyramids for hundreds of years, but no one can just tell how.

Inside the pyramids are rooms for dead bodies and treasures. Today, some mummies (木乃伊) and treasures are displayed in museums in different countries.
