Cooking is a necessary life skill. However, I never thought I could do it myself. Until one day, I1 how much time my parents spent in cooking. I decided to take on some of the cooking.

At first, I was nervous about using knives. But my parents2 me."Just try it" they said. I started with simple tasks like cutting up vegetables and mixing fruits for salads. I also learned to control the heat to3 burning the dishes.

Of course, I4 challenges. For example, there were times when I burned food or5 too much salt. However, with practice, I became better.

In a word, learning to cook has been a valuable lesson for me. It taught me to be patient, and responsible.

Sarah didn't like the clothes her mom laid out——a shiny pink dress."I' ll choose my own clothes for picture day," she said. Her mom sighed but agreed.

Rushing to her room, Sarah started  her treasures: a cat shirt from her favorite animal shelter,a blue tutu(芭蕾舞裙) she'd worn for ballet practice, and purple cowboy boots from last summer's forest trip."Perfect" she smiled.

At school, classmates in nice outfits  picture day. Sarah suddenly looked down at her old tutu and dirty boots. She felt nervous inside. A group of older kids snickered (窃笑) nearby when they saw her mismatched clothes. Sarah's face burned, but she took a deep breath and . Just then, a boy in a bright blue hat ."I love your boots" he said loudly. His words made the laughing stop.

Labor Day isn't just a day off school. It's a time to show what you can achieve through . For example, a group of students managed to do something special on that day. While exploring the area, they found a garden. It used to be full of nice flowers and green plants, but it had been left unattended for many years. Then, they planned to  to change it into a beautiful place.

After making the decision, they set up a small gardening club. Club members Sarah, Max, Emily, and Jake  and started cleaning. They pulled out unwanted plants, cut back overgrown trees, and dug the soil (土壤). It was hard work, but their excitement  their love for labor.
