New artificial intelligence (AI) tool can be used to forecast our future health conditions. according to the scientists in London. Scientists from a number of different universities and hospitals have been trying out a tool called Foresight. 

It has been trained on the healthcare data （数据）of real patients, and it uses deep learning to pick out patterns in the data and identify future diseases, medicine, and conditions. In other words, it's a simulation （模拟） of what someone's future health will look like. 

The results of the tests on Foresight have come out in The Lancet Digital Health. Three different models of Foresight were trained on sets of health data from more than 800, 000 patients in the UK and the US. 

In order to check how correct Foresight was, the scientists compared its forecasts with the medical records from a smaller number of patients they studied. It's said that its forecasting reports were 88% correct. 

"But this isn't a tool for forecasting the future, " said Zeljko Kraljevic, the study's first writer, "and it isn't designed to help patients diagnose （诊断） themselves. " He said it could be used to help doctors to make decisions about a patient. "The more data it receives, the better it gets, " he added. 

The scientists need more testing on the tool, and they' re looking for hospitals to help test a high-graded model called Foresight 2.

China has started testing a pet-friendly service on some high-speed trains between Beijing and Shanghai since April 9, 2025. 

This service enables passengers to book a special place for their cats or dogs, and is being tested on 10 trains between five major stations: Beijing South, Jinan West, Nanjing South, Hangzhou East and Shanghai Hongqiao. Passengers must book tickets through the 12306 website at least two days before their travel. 

Each pet must be a healthy cat or dog, weighing no more than 15 kg and no taller than 40cm. A pet health card is needed for this service. 

·During the trip, pets are placed in special boxes. Workers check the pets at least every two hours. Water can be provided if necessary, but owners' feeding and mid-journey visits are not allowed.

Buck had never experienced such freezing cold before. When he first arrived in Alaska, the icy wind made him shake all over. Back in sunny California, the coldest days were just rainy, but here, everything was covered in thick, hard snow that never seemed to melt.

More often than not, those who listen to Pingshu stories belong to older generations. While most young people spend hours online, a small number still find value in Pingshu, drawn by its cultural richness and storytelling traditions.

Imagine feeling upset but having no one to talk to. Who would you turn to? Today, many people treat AI chatbots like ChatGPT as friends. 

I understood why. Unlike humans, chatbots are available 24 hours. They listen patiently and say comforting words. However, this creates a problem. 

Philosopher Martin Heidgger believed technology makes us see things only as tools. For example, using a simple tool to search for rocks might make us view a hill as just a "'supply place" instead of noticing its natural beauty. Similarly, AI friends offer a limited view of friendship-focusing only on personal needs like reducing loneliness or entertainment. If we rely on them, we may never discover the true value of human friendship. 

Real friendships involve accepting imperfections(缺点). ____△____. Human friends might disappoint you, but they choose to stay even when they see your weaknesses. This shows you are valued beyond just being useful. Such relationships add deep meaning to life, which AI cannot provide. Sadly, not everyone experiences this. As Al friends become common, future generations might lose the chance to build real friendships. Out most important task is to protect human connections. We must teach the next generation-and remind ourselves-that true friendship helps us grow and achieve more together.

China is such a big county. Are the north and the south very different? The following are  (opinion) of some teenagers. 

Thirteen-year-old Linda from Fujian thinks that one of  (big) differences is the language. Each place in China has  (they) own dialects(方言). For example, people in her hometown Xiamen speak the Minnan dialect. But visitors from the north can hardly understand it! Luckily, China has spent much time  (teach) people Mandarin, especially older people. Her grandma didn't speak Mandarin before. When she moved to the city five years ago, she began to learn it  community volunteers. Now she is 64 and can speak Mandarin  (perfect) !

Consider what you are good at.

It's true that things like money are important, but don't let them lead you down the wrong path. Follow your heart and your characters.  If you don't like work which needs lots of attention, think long and hard before you decide to do something like applying to study engineering at university. 

 They start a job, love it at once and stick at it. But it isn't always like that. So remember you are allowed to change your mind. It's not necessary to worry for years. Your first decision isn't forever. Maybe the right job for you is right around the corner!

Some people choose their career simply because they think they'll make huge lots of money. OK, if that is what you want. However, in general people are pleased with their career when they feel they are doing something valuable for others. It doesn't have to be voluntary work.  Just don't forget, money is not everything. 

Looking at the undone homework on his desk always makes David Grey aged 15 feel uncomfortable. After 7 pm, David leaves his homework behind and surfs the Internet for more than 2 hours instead, waiting until the last minute. Do you have the same experience?

Everyone procrastinates (拖延) because they want to feel good now. The way to do that is to avoid the task. You can procrastinate on nearly anything, even enjoyable tasks such as planning a vacation. Research has shown that the top tasks young people procrastinate are studying and going to bed. "One big cause for procrastination( 拖 延 症 ) is that people are afraid of failure, of not meeting others ' expectations, " Professor Peter Stone says. 

Professor Stone did a study in 2022, asking procrastinators to finish a task before bedtime at night. The results showed that they did worse than non-procrastinators: they made more mistakes and they took longer. However, they thought they did better. Even, the procrastination led to sleeplessness, which caused many other health problems for them. 

For those who need some drives to stop procrastinating, the best advice might be to take action first. If you've been procrastinating on forming a habit of exercise, just put on your walking shoes. A little bit of progress will get you moving. 

Next, find something to help you remember to take action. If you want to go to bed at 10:30 pm, you might turn the lights down at 10 pm. When the lights are dim（昏暗）, you'll start going to bed. It works for most people. 

Finally, reward yourself every time you make progress. For example, after you've run 3 km, enjoy your favourite ice-cream. But be careful: it won't work the other way around. 

"Who did this?" asked my teacher. Thirty children tried to think about not only what they had done, but also what our teacher might have found out. The class was silent(寂静的). 

"Who did this?" she asked again. She never became angry, but she was this time. She held up a piece of broken glass to show us that she had already known what happened.

Have you ever imagined living on the sea? This idea could soon come true. The Maldives（马尔代夫）is building the world's first floating city and plans to complete it in 2027. 

The city is like a man-made island. People will live on floating platforms ( 平 台 ). These platforms are connected and placed along a hexagonal grid (六角网格). Natural coral reefs (珊瑚礁) will be grown around the city to stop the floating city from moving around, so people who live here won't feel seasick. 

People will live a self-sufficient life in the floating city. Electricity will be powered by solar energy. Sewage (污水) will be treated there. Also, the island is not far away from land. It takes only 10 minutes to travel by boat between there and the capital of the Maldives. 

Cool as it seems, the city is designed to solve problems. The Maldives is one of the world's lowest-lying countries. Most of its islands including the capital stand about only 1 meter above sea level. And now climate change has brought a big problem – the rising sea level. According to CNN, 80 percent of the country's land area will be under the sea by the end of the century. 

"We all know, the Maldives is special and it attracts visitors from all of the world. In the Maldives, we cannot stop the waves, but we can rise with them, " Mohamed Nasheed, former president of the country, told Newsweek magazine.
